Dog friendly
In process of much needed renovation , work in progress everywhere …it apparantly still has AA 4 star rating , at present it deserves no more than 2 stars , as such it offers very poor value for money , if we knew , we certainly would have booked elsewhere .

Room was Good and Spa Very good
Breakfast did not enjoy and Dinner was below Average needs a menu change

Newly refurbished room. Very comfortable and good facilities.
Building works in progress during our stay making some areas out of use. Not informed prior to arrival. No method of controlling room heating - it was very hot (surprisingly perhaps for the Lake District!). No information in the room as regards hotel facilities, meal times and so on.

Everything is excellent

Food was excellent. Lovely pool and friendly staff
Definitely worth a visit
Nothing.

Lovely setting, nice building, the bathroom was very modernised.
The bed itself was awful, very hard and uncomfortable. The evening meal wasn’t much better, over seasoned making it also let inedible. I think it’s the first time I haven’t finished a steak.
3.8
Beer garden
Leisure facilities
It was in the process of having an update which meant the bar wasn’t open
There was renovation materials laying in the corridors
TV in the room channels keep freezing
Shower very noisy as was the constant running of the water in the toilet cistern
3.8
Good location. Staff friendly.
Suite 61 did not have a garden view but one of the staff car park.
Phoned ahead to check there was somewhere to store a bike and assured there was. Unfortunately when we got there, the receptionist couldn’t understand how we had been told that as there was nowhere to store a bike. Had to keep it in our room which was not ideal.

I’ve stayed at the Castle Inn before & it’s ideally situated for visiting friends. It also has a swimming pool & gym.
Unfortunately the hotel was recently taken over by another hotel group. I knew nothing about this until I checked in. Also it was in the process of being updated, again no mention of this until checking in. Lots of hammering & drills in the room next door, so after being out for the day, quite noisy until around 5.30pm.
3.8
Lovely modern clean hotel. Room had everything we needed
Couldn’t fault the hotel

Pool, gym, Sauna. Dog friendly. Helpful professional staff. Breakfast was perfect, lots of continental choices and first morning additional hot food was cooked to order, the second morning, served from a buffet cart, it was hot and well presented. Very attentive staff who answered all our questions, met our needs as a family with a dog.
Lots of wildlife in the well kept gardens, even a hare sauntering around the car park!
There could have been nuts/seeds to go with oats and yoghurts at breakfast.
Some aspects of the hotel were a little outdated but you could see further renovations are under way.

The room was tired. Curtains frayed. No hairdryer, which is really unusual these days.

Everything
Nothing
3.8
Easy access from the main roads.
Property is dated and lacks any ambience. Layout doesn’t flow and feels like reception has at some point been relocated meaning the whole flow through the building doesn’t work. Decor is dark and furniture is heavy and dated. Female solo traveller and felt a little vulnerable.
3.8
Breakfast ok but food was served to each person which I think is awkward like Covid days
The bathrooms are very old fashioned
3.8
Great hotel good amenities
3.8
The room was clean, spacious and well equipped
The walls and ceilings are paper thin. Other guests congregated in one room. So noisy we had to leave at midnight. This in spite of night reception asking them to be quiet.
3.8
Breakfast very good location beautiful
Nothing really

Nice stay along the way, had everything we needed, dinner in the pub which was lovely and breakfast in the morning also good. Pool was lovely and gardens to stroll around. Staff in restaurant were particularly nice.
Nil.

Our room was comfortable, big, bathroom was bigger than usually, the wellness facility, the place as it was in the middle of nowhere (in a good way) but very quiet, really great for chill out.
We liked everything, the only issue was the bathtube was damaged so we just had shower.
Breakfast was great, typical English breakfast though any other kind of breakfast wasn't available
3.8
This is one of the best appointed hotels we have visited.
Every detail of the bedroom and bathroom carefully sorted.
The public rooms and gardens v nice.
Our special requests attended to, which they often aren’t at other hotels.
The meals were just average though.
Nothing.

I liked that they had a sauna room ,steam room ,and a jacuzzi which I didn't saw on website when I booked the hotel .The reception and housekeeping staff were very friendly and made our stay so good. The location is just 15 min drive from Lake District and there is so much to see and everything was sooo relaxing
I wished there were more options at brekfast ,and the hot brekfast we had a choice between 5 hot meals ,tbh I asked uf I can get 2 options because we were very hungry and ,they didn't let us....so brekfast wasn't as high to our expectations .And the inside room could have been cleaner ,we took the fan from the closet ,which haven't been cleaned in ages probably ,the dish on it was unbelievable.

Very good stay. Comfortable
Not a lot

Great location, easy access to Keswick and cockermouth.
Shower was cold even on the hottest setting, room was not made up without request! Room was huge but the bathroom was tiny, with mold in the shower. For over £100 a night without breakfast I expected more.

Large room. Comfortable bed. Helpful staff.
Food only average.
3.8
Staff were helpful and friendly
Pool facilities were great, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi
Views from room were lovely
9 sockets in the room so great for needing a charging point!
Bed was the hardest bed we've ever slept on, we didn't sleep much at all
Shower knob was loose and the shower wouldn't turn on initially, took a bit of fiddling on to work
3.8
Breakfast good.
Room good.
Swimming pool really nice and sauna , steam room.
Beds really comfortable.
Very clean.

Location, plenty parking, offer to upgrade room, room size, room on ground floor. Leisure facilities - gym & pool freely available for use. Friendly staff, good range of choices for breakfast & evening meals available if wanted.
Long walk to breakfast, some areas of hotel were noticeably cold ( appreciate they might be trying to keep costs down in low season). TV reception not great - not a smart TV - no slot for usb.
3.8
Breakfast was good, you can see mountains from the windows
Old furniture, room small
