The meals were excellent and every member of staff was delightful: kind, courteous and helpful .
The stairs were very steep. Not a problem for us but might bother some people.

Excellent location right by the lower ferry and a 2 min walk to the Dart embankment. Very friendly staff and a lovely building.

Excellent breakfast. Maybe could have some sugar tongs with sugar bowl and a knife for toast and marmalade.
Re. Bathroom. All good but a bit worried about breakable glass for teeth cleanin above sink.

we stayed in the Nelson suite, top of the hotel and comfortable but with low beams. Excellent breakfast with fresh fruit and good choice of cooked food.

The breakfast was excellent, a good choice between continental and cooked. The staff were friendly and made our stay very enjoyable - we loved the goody bag we received on checking out.
Nothing - everything was wonderful.

Our room was very comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was superb. Dinner was OK but our table was very close to some excitable youngsters which could probably have been avoided. The hotel is in a very historic building and full of history whilst also being nicely modernised.
There was a lot of rumbling from machinery adjacent to our room and a lot of stairs (maybe unavoidable in such an old building).

Really central, the decor was perfect for the area and the room was really comfortable for a two night stay.

Lovely historic building, very well presented and in a great location. Breakfast was fantastic.
We stayed in the Mountbatten superior double, as beautiful as it was it was very noisy from 7am to 11pm. lots of noise from the kitchen dumbwaiter.

The welcome we received. The ever smiling staff and friendliness shown. Breakfast was superb and dinners of very high quality. The bedroom was most acceptable and the bed was very comfortable. We will most definitely return for more stays at Bayards Cove Inn. We'll done and thank you for a great stay.

The room was beautiful and we were even upgraded which was a bonus. 2 bedrooms and a lounge. Added bonus of tea and coffee facilities in the room. Eco friendly bottles of milk in the fridge.
Ate in the restaurant in the evening and it was as though we were too much trouble for the staff. We had to ask for things too many times because they were too busy with a friend and their dog instead of checking on people.

Delicious vegan breakfast, spacious characterful room and friendly staff.
Bed was a little soft for our taste but we like a very firm mattress. The pillows were incredible though!

We were not sure what to expect as this is an Inn, not a hotel or a B&B. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was clearly old, but nicely furnished with a large, comfortable bed. After checking in we sat in the bar area in front of a log fire and had light bites which were tasty and nicely presented. Breakfast was a nice selection of cold meats, cheese, fruit, cereal, fresh croissants and a choice of hot food. The service was welcoming and friendly.
The only slight drawback is lack of parking, but we managed to get a spot by the harbour. Parking is free overnight until 9am and then 1 hour so plenty of time for breakfast.

The staff were great, really friendly and helpful. The food was excellent too.
The room was by the kitchen extractor and a little noisy. It was great otherwise.

Bayards cove is tucked away down a side street of Dartmouth close to the estuary. The inn is ancient, beautifully restored, atmospheric and cosy. There were lots of thoughtful touches, well appointed room, welcoming staff and a delicious breakfast with loads of choices.

stayed here before, everything excellent
beds, towels, staff and food
building quirky and very comfortable
we were told we didn’t need to book supper on our first night but when we went down to eat there were no tables - so we recommend booking
plenty of other places to eat so not a problem and we booked for the second night

This characterful 600 year old property is situated in the heart of Dartmouth. It has been tastefully renovated but retains the slopping floors and wonky doors! fab.
Inevitably in an old building, there were lots of stairs, some steep so something to consider if you find stairs difficult.
Also you have to sort out your own parking; we managed to park street side not far from the hotel after a few circuits of the one way system.

comfortable mattress
very clean
nice drinks and mince pies in the room

large gap under door (room 3) lets in lots of light at night
