You can’t go wrong in Dartmouth, this was our second time this year (different hotels) but location is great.
Reception team were super lovely, and welcoming.
Our only regret is we didn’t have dinner there as we’d pre booked elsewhere, and were gutted when we saw the menu!
We read the bathrooms needed a bit of an update which agree, but it didn’t impact our stay at all.
The room was lovely, on a bit of a slant but expected for an older building, bed was very comfortable and a lovely range of fresh teas and coffees, perfect for an overnight stay.
Parking - you’re given a pass for the carpark but we managed to nab a space out front which was limited but much easier.
Breakfast was outstanding, local ingredients and cooked to order. Would recommend!
Nothing.

Very welcoming and relaxing hotel in excellent central location. Love the décor and ambience. Fabulous food; the breakfasts especially are a delight for those who are up for a full cooked breakfast, with local fayre, and vegetarians alike! Nothing too much trouble. Great to see it's dog- friendly too :-)
Nothing, though worth noting no garden, but the shortest walk to the quayside and gardens.

Bistro food poor. Pillows very flat & uncomfortable. Bathroom extremely small no shelf to put anything in there. No lift

Lovely hotel in a great location. Friendly staff and fantastic food
I would recommend those who aren’t very mobile request a first floor room. We were fine but there are lots of steps to the top!

This is a family run hotel and it shows in the level of service you receive. A team who really care about you and just as importantly the staff they employ. My first choice of somewhere to stay in Dartmouth.
Dinner service got a bit haphazard on the Saturday night but it was the Dartmouth music festival and they had a great singer on so it was very full. However, the staff and owners worked their socks off and kept smiling and we all had a great night - I think that’s another compliment!

Disappointed to have our restaurant booking cancelled for on first night and extremely long wait for meal on second night

Excellent breakfast and the location was just right. Very close to the harbour and all central amenities
There were no face flannels.

Spent 2 nights in this hotel, great service from a very friendly staff. Room comfortable and spotlessly clean. Quiet location and great location. Would definitely stay there again.

Excellent location, Browns was very friendly, room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was delicious and the evening meal we had was excellent. Perfect weekend away.

Highly recommended. The Hotel's decor is very good and it was also very clean and comfortable. The check in was efficient and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Excellent evening meal and the breakfast was also of the same standard. Really appreciated the car parking 'voucher' that saved a considerable amount.

Everything was wonderful. Staff and service exceptional. Food was great.

great location
stylish boutique hotel
Be careful with the room you are allocated
Have stayed there before and had a great room .
Paid the same price this time but room was at the back of the hotel on the top floor, cramped and not value for money . Owners response when we asked to move was poor and dismissive . We checked out early as a result and won’t be staying there again .

loved the location , the staff were really friendly .
the room was very clean
breakfasts were very good , fresh products
no espresso coffee
asked for room to be refreshed and would have expected
more sugar / milk and water and fresh towels - not just
bed being made … dirty cups were still there , bins
weren’t emptied - BIG DISAPPOINTMENT . For the
price paid… a room refreshed should be more that a
bed being made !

Location
Breakfast
Room nice if small .
Owners unfriendly - we were 15 mins early but no real welcome . The man was positively unfriendly , the woman more unwelcoming . Their front of house girl was lovely .
Communal areas need work - stairs / carpet tired and downstairs needs modernising - gloomy . Also a very strong strange smell as you came downstairs - mix of cooking and not sure what else but gives impression of smelling dirty . Whole place needs updating and a more welcoming approach . Overpriced for what it is. Get the impression everything is on the cheap -

The staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful, the rooms were beautiful spacious and had all the amenities you could need, an outstanding breakfast with great choice, the restaurant also offers great food including some amazing fish dishes, all in great location in Dartmouth.

If it was a little cheaper.

Great breakfast, cooked to order and good choice, clear instructions for arrival and room was excellent with some ice personal touches. Rarely go back to hotels for a 2nd visit Browns will be an exception

the hotel location was great for us, particularly my mum who needs to mainly walk on the flat. the decor and ambience in the public spaces lovely and tastefully done. it was easy to get parking (permit from hotel) at this time of year so no worries on that score. the staff were really friendly and very helpful and the breakfasts were cooked to order and were delicious, we also had dinner one of the nights and it was scrumptious. the room was clean and tidy with tea and coffee facilities and you could even get fresh milk from the bar if you wanted it.
a heads up on the live band in the pub opposite would have been helpful especially for those who like to retire early. not helped by then being woken up at 3am by a dog barking which didn’t stop, and still hadn’t stopped by 9am (i wasn’t the only guest to hear it). the dog wasn’t in the hotel but staff didn’t seem to know where it came from and said it was probably a holiday rental (i was also concerned that maybe the owner was ill etc., as it is unusual for a dog to be barking for that long but no-one seemed to care about that). if i owned a hotel in the city centre i would get to know all the owners of holiday rentals and have contact numbers so issues like dogs barking or late night parties could be handled easily. as it is i had a 4hr drive home on very little sleep and a cracking headache to boot when a little effort on the hotel’s part would have helped tremendously especially as the hotel was far from cheap. i did not get my night’s money’s worth on that score.
hotel room had loose taps and water pressure was diabolical.

The Location was excellent, with a good arm, a stones throw from the river, car parking arrangements worked well when we stayed. All the food we ate while staying was to a high standard with dinner being one of the better meals I have ever eaten. the room was very comfortable, quiet and warm with all you needed to stay and some of the character of an old building still evident which is a pleasant change in theses days of dead square corporate decorated hotels. We had a room with a massive bed which was super comfortable. What made the stay superb was the staff, they were all very friendly helpful and good at making us feel very welcome be it at breakfast, on arrival or in the evening, they could not have been better. If you want to eat in different places instead of the same place every night, there are a selection of good eateries else where within easy walking. With post Brexit and Covid staffing issues it pays to book up wherever you choose to eat which would probably include here in busy times. Dartmouth as an area is a good location to stay and to explore from with ferries across to Kingswear, Boat trips, Steam railway, good selection of shops.
we loved our stay and will no hesitate to return, not much could be make the stay better. The Bathroom we had was nearing time for an upgrade. And plugs nearer both sides of the bed to charge the inevitable phone.
