It's not often that a home truly has everything you could ever want but Tuscan Retreat might just be one of those rare finds. Located within 1 block of popular attractions such as the Nimitz Museum, Otto's, the National Museum of the Pacific War, and many other great restaurants and stores of Main Street, you really couldn't ask for a better location to begin each morning of your stay in Fredericksburg. Step through the front door and you'll be impressed by a luxurious and welcoming living area featuring supple leather seating, rich wood floors, and a gorgeous stone fireplace. This same sense of quality continues into each of the four bedrooms. The master bedroom features a wonderful king bed. Off of the master is a separate bedroom with a queen bed. From this queen bedroom, you'll also have access to another sleeping area that includes a trundle bed that makes into two twin beds. A third bedroom features a king bed while the fourth bedroom includes two XL twin beds, which are ideal for children or even adults who desire a bed all to themselves.
Outside, the covered portion of the patio includes an outdoor table with seating for 10, a fantastic hot tub, and a wall-mounted television while the open portion features a comfortable outdoor sofa and end chairs that encircle an amazing stone fireplace.

Up to two dogs are allowed at the property but we ask that they each weigh 25 lbs or less. In addition, there is a pet fee of $22/dog/night (before tax). Due to the fact that HomeAway/VRBO does not allow us to charge for more than one dog at the time of booking, please let us know if you will be bringing more than one dog, so that we can make sure that you are charged the correct amount. If you bring more than one dog and do not let us know, you will be charged accordingly. Furthermore, please bring crates for your dogs and crate them in your absence from the house, do not allow the dogs on furniture or beds, and pick up and properly dispose of their waste. If these rules are not followed, there will be an additional $200 charge added to your reservation.

What you see is what you get! The pictures don't lie...beautiful house, beautifully appointed, everything you need and then some! The kitchen is extremely well stocked! Very spacious, room for everyone. The outdoor space is perfect, even a spot to play Bocce. Loved it and would most definitely return.

The Tuscan Retreat was conveniently located one block off of Main Street and close to all shopping/wineries. I need a central house for us to prep for wedding venue tasks and have family/friends of the wedding sleep/eat/relax. It was nice to have a venue with all the "things" available such as kitchen/pantry utensils, iron and ironing board, wifi, grill, hot tub and outdoor seating. The only thing I had to do before my guests arrived, was sweep all the leaves etc off the back patio/driveway area. I really loved the key pad access to the long driveway which kept our vehicles off the street. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Everyone was impressed! Kim K.

It was the perfect house and location for our 3 night stay. Very short walk to Main Street, 2 restaurants even close just down the block and super close to the Fredericksburg info center. They have everything you need to make a meal. Coffee pot and keurig. We enjoyed sitting by the outdoor fire. Super comfy beds. We would do it again.

I want to start with how I wanted to give this 5 stars, but had to take a star... the location of this property is perfect to walk to everything on Main. I took a star because we weren't able to park in the drive due to the tree branches being too low, and the steepness of the drive way would of had the branches hit our vehicle when pulling forward to the garage, so if you have a truck you will have to park it in the street until they fix this. The photo listed is not of the driveway entrance from the street, its the parking in the backyard (if you can't fit in the driveway to go through the garage port to the backyard parking (not sure of the height of garage door) than the street is public parking for anyone, so you may not get a space next to the house unless they get those tree limbs cut to pull in the drive way). We were nervous about parking in the street because you could tell 2 mailboxes had been taken out due to being hit by cars, but that was our only option. This really was the BEST location, clean house, beautiful backyard (note: no grass for doggie potties), enjoyed the clean hottub, and how quiet the neighborhood was. Note: the back door by the bar to the hottub area automatically locks, so make sure you take your key or make sure to unlock the handle (learned that the hard way with no phone on us and no number listed in the backyard to even know who to call) maybe they can fix this by adding a waring sign or add a code lock to that back door? I would stay here!

Excellent location and great place. All great, but one thing to be aware of is the back bedroom situation. The back twin and queen can only be accessed there the master. So we did have to be creative with privacy. Not sure we understood that in its entirety. Still a great stay

Booked last minute for the weekend to celebrate our mom's 60th birthday. Had 8 people/adults stay and it was a tight fit but we made it work! Without a doubt this is the BEST location to stay - Close to everything. Loved the home and the hot tub! It was a perfect home for us to stay at and spend time together. We all said we can't wait to come back!

Overall the house was wonderful. The huge open living room, dining room and kitchen was perfect for all of us hanging out together. The outdoor area and hot tub was so nice too! The location was perfect - walking distance to the shops, restaurants etc.
My only complaints would be we didn't have hand soap in the front bathroom, and overall the house could use a good deep cleaning (especially in that front bathroom - the floor and baseboards were pretty dirty).
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

Ladies weekend and the house was designed for entertaining. From the beautiful fireplace and dining area to the front porch it was a delightful experience. Close to main street as well so those that wanted to do more shopping could while others relaxed.

Inconvenience at its best
We stayed at the Tuscan retreat and inconvenient is using a nice word. You had to open one garage door to access the back yard area then open another garage door to access the garage that was not the inconvenient part. What wasn't convenient is then you had to walk from the garage all the way back around to the front door to get into the house which was ironic at best because we did not have a key that would open the back door we were only issued keys that open the front door. So every time we left the house and came back no matter if it was for five minutes or an hour we had to do the same routine walk from the back of the property all the way to the front door rather than going in the back door. What added salt to the wound was that there was no garage door clicker you had to get out of your car and put in the code then you had to hit the button on the other side to close the garage door and then repeat for the second garage door and then walk all the way to the front door for the price that you're paying her one should not be inconvenienced like this.

I gave this home 3 stars only because it was filthy. It is a nice home and well stocked but it was very dirty. The cleaning service is obviously doing the bare minimum. Aside from that, we loved the location as it was within walking distance to downtown and many restaurants.

A very charming and comfortable experience where you can walk and enjoy Fredericksburg or just sit outside and enjoy the Hill Country! Gastehaus Schmidt was so very friendly and helpful and made renting so very easy. The house itself was so inviting. One small problem was the shower in the master bath not working but other than that, it was a dream place to stay. I hope that I get the opportunity to stay at the Tuscan Retreat on my next visit to Fredericksburg because it's a lovely place to stay.

Moms get away
This was our 2nd annual moms trip and first time staying here. Location was perfect for getting on the 290 Wine shuttle and walking distance to most restaurants and shopping. The layout was perfect for a group of women who don’t mind sharing rooms. We will definitely be back.

Perfect home for a get away with friends, great location
We spent New Years weekend at the Tuscan Retreat. Perfect place for three couples to ring in the new year! Check in was seamless - we arrived after office hours and the host had left the key for us at the property and lights on so we wouldn't walk up to a dark house. It looked so warm and inviting upon arrival! The house itself was just lovely - clean and spacious - and made it easy to relax and enjoy. We cooked most meals at the house (note, the gas grill was a little tricky but we eventually got two burners working) and, I must say, the kitchen was well-stocked with all the pots, pans, dishes etc that we needed. The hot tub and outdoor fireplace added the perfect touch to our last evening (which was, fittingly, the first day of the new year). We will definitely stay here again. One other callout - due to the layout of the bedrooms, if more than six people are staying here, the additional folks might need to be family or at least comfortable with walking through another bedroom to get to the bathroom during the night. Oh, and great location! Walking distance to shopping, restaurants and the ball drop at the town square. All in all, we were more than pleased with the experience.

Super Property
We had a family of ten (6 adults and 4 children) stay at the awesome Tuscan Retreat and had a great time. The house is arranged well and the backyard is awesome..The kitchen is well stocked. The kids had lots of fun in the hot tub and playing in the backyard. It is 1 block from the Main Street and the Nimitz Museum. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the Tuscan Retreat.
