A real gem in the heart of the wonder-filled Kalk Bay. The ambience of this magnificent old lady is worth a visit, plan an extra day just to take it all in!! Clive could not have been a more warm, welcoming host. The scents throughout are memorable; the only thing missing from the rooftop pool was more time!

Lovely, home-cooked breakfast with a choice for what you would like to have on your plate. Fresh fruit and good coffee in a beautiful environment. The room was exquisite, comfortable, homey and welcoming. My family and I loved it. The team were helpful, kind and very thoughtful.
I cannot fault this accommodation. It exceeded my expectations.

The location is good, the manor building is very attractive. The coffee was good, and the staff were friendly.
Attention to details is certainly missing. Parking is very cramped, the windows are dirty ( including cobwebs), the grout in the shower was dirty too, and the breakfast food was mediocre- no better than at a very ordinary B&B . The safe in the room had no batteries, so could not be used. The bedlamp switch cannot be reached from a seated or lying pisition in bed, as it is placed too high up. The flashlight in the room was not working . All in all, the manor house and furnishings are in line with what was expected, the rest not.

More usb plugs that you can access without crawling round on the floor

Lovely old building and setting with great staff.
Parking is tight, bathroom is tiled with different levels/ accident waiting to happen. The pool is needing a facelift and even though it is winter one walks past this to enter and leave room. No bending the rules when we wanted to invited friends for breakfast, meant we gave up which apparently is a good one at the St James!

comfortable beds & pillows, breakfast included, bed made daily & room tidied. Laundry included too!
The thoughtful touches like water in the mini fridge andcomplimentary sherry by the fire in the main lounge area.
A couple of maintenance issues in the bathroom but they were minor.

The room was really spacious and a great view, very comfortable, and location was excellent.
Wifi was not great, parts of the room had no wifi, and it was erratic.
Loadshedding was a dampner in the morning as no boiling of kettle for coffee in the room.
Our second morning breakfast was cold so had to have it redone

very good position to walk down to central Kalk Bay, very pretty traditional house with sea view. nice breakfast
The room was full of ants, both alive and dead (so the room was not cleaned just before we went in). there was vague smell of old stuff, probably due to the dated curtains, but that was not intolerable.

Absolutely stunning place, worth every cent that one pays. Place was immaculate with so much history on the walls. Breakfasts were worthy of their 5 stars. Will definately be back
Everything was perfect - not one complaint.

nice and clean. very stylish

The spacious room and good quality breakfast.
The price - for our type of traveller we have limited needs so the high price was off-putting. We found little to offset the high price.
We didn't like the way the tips were stipulated in writing and how the tips were collected. For us, there was a high level of doubt about how the tip would be distributed.
We also did not like the close proximity to a noisy road. For the price, we felt more could be done to offset load shedding.

The staff, the service, the amenities and the location.
Limited breakfast breakfast options, but the food was good.

Beautiful place and great location, helpful and friendly management, peaceful and secluded feeling yet minutes’ walk from a vibrant village. Very nice breakfast too.
It’s not the property’s fault, but load shedding (intermittent electricity cuts) affect nearly everyone in South Africa currently.

Our room was very spacious, comfortable, and well-furnished, and the property itself is beautiful with a lovely view. The location is perfect for those looking to explore Muizenberg and Kalk Bay, and we could hear the waves from our room. The pool area was quite nice as well, with large loungers and umbrellas. Check-in and check-out were seamless (thanks, Ken!). The breakfast was simple but very well-prepared and tasty. We didn't use the Honesty Bar, but it's helpful to have one there!
Would be great to have a coffee machine (preferably Nespresso) in the room, and the TV was a bit tricky to use.

Our room smelt like cigarette smoke, so either someone had previously smoked in their for quite some
period because it wasn’t a faint smell but a strong smell.
