The location is fantastic. Easy access yo all the sites in Takayama. Their focus seems to be non japanese guest based on the amount of western guests and the booklets in english in the rooms with elaborate explanations.
We found the food rather disappointing for a ryokan in this price segment. Portions were very restricted and not very japanese in taste. Almost every course was served by a different member of staff that often was not able to explain and felt like they were in a hurry.

Staffs are super polite in Japanese way.
The room is spacious and cozy with a balcony that can saw the puppets show of the spring festival.
Provides shuttle bus between hotel and JR station.
Has multi-language staffs on call.
The room door only has one horn lock that is super unsecured. It can only be locked by antilock. The staffs of course have the spare key to open it without noticing as there isn’t any physical anti-theft lock like other hotels. I got my door opened without door knocked three times and even two time with one knock them door opened, which all received sincere apologies later.
Dinner isn’t worth its price. While waitresses are super nice and polite, the food was not equivalent to other restaurants at this price.

Loved the corner room overlooking the river ( we were in the annex).
Would be good to clean the onsen's at different times as opposed to having them both closed at the same time

location
needs a lot of renovations and the food was not impressive for a ryokan.

Check in was easy.
The room smelled strongly of green mats. It bothered my allergies really badly. Fortunately, I was able to sleep with the balcony door open. Otherwise i wouldn't have been able to sleep. Also, very few food places were open in town the thursday we arrived despite google listing them as open. We were also unable to eat at the hotel because they were full. Its very confusing that a hotel doesn't have the capacity to feed its guests. Breakfast was very mediocre.

Fabulous location on the river and in the centre of historic Takayama - our room had a wonderful view of the river.
Beds were super-comfortable and the staff were unbelievably attentive. Make sure you have at least one kaiseki dinner while staying there.

Location and and the staffs are really helpful.
The checkin time 3:00 PM and the checkout 10 AM and they charge 2,000 yen for an hour for late checkout. I think this is a ripe off to customer.

Loved the view from our room, and that the Ryokan was at the steps of Takayama’s key attractions, including the Old Town and the morning market. The hotel breakfast was also so lovely. We felt it was a great way to enjoy some Japanese traditions. The staff were so attentive, friendly and helpful.
The Women’s Onsen that was located in the next building was absolutely fabulous- so well equipped that it made you feel like you were at the spa.
