Breakfast okay but the eggs Benedict was not wonderful because of the use of ham hock instead of ham or bacon
The hotel has old world charm with modern ensuite facilities.
The remote control for the tv in the room didn’t work. We had to use the side controls.
The carpet on the main stairs is in need of repair and gives a poor first impression.
Lack of on site parking. If it wasn’t a Sunday we would have been paying an extra $25 for the day.
The lobby area was cold due to the constantly opening doors

Great location-great hotel for its age. Really love the vibe and feel of the hotel.
We had asked for a car park on the phone prior to check in-they said nothing available. When we were in line to check in, the person in front of us who was checking in had informed the reception that they had 2 cars, not just the 1 they had obviously booked. The receptionist hesitated and then said “ah look that should be all fine”. Not really fair and he looked like a complete liar because he had told us earlier in the day that there were no spots left lol. Also, the beds were on angles. I rolled off the bed at one stage in the night because it was on such an angle.

Central
Very noisy. Footsteps and running at 6am in the morning on top of our room.
Also at night near our window there is a balcony and people talking loud.

The decor was great. And the coffee and location.
No care or consideration for handicapped or mobility impaired patrons. The only door from the car pack to the hotel was even locked on evening and the staff were laughing at my husband trying to get in. On check out I asked to speak to the manager, he wasn’t in yet and I was told he would call. Over 4 days latter and no call.

Food was poor, customer service took forever and was poor.
Beds were terrible.
Biggest highlight was waking up in the morning to leave.

The ambiance of the hotel, beautiful, bed was comfortable . We were originally placed in twin room but asked for a double bed and we were kindly placed in a king room, which we really appreciated after 60 years married we much prefer to sleep together.
It would have been better to have had a cupboard in the bathroom for toiletries and a case rack to put your cases on to unpack. The kettle had to be boiled on the tiny shelf in bathroom, no outlet to plug into in bedroom.

Breakfast very well cooked.
Breakfast service slow. It took 30 minutes and we were the only ones there.

Restaurant was very good, staff were excellent, beautiful historic building, love the original lift. Bathroom was very good
Could do with a lamp on both sides of bed, some more power points instead of a power board hanging from the tv, somewhere to put the suitcase would be convenient, larger tv, but these a small gripes.

What a surprise. Landing in this hotel you will land smack bang in the middle to a history time capsule. Must be seen to be believed. Staying here really bring the history of the town alive today. Do the town read and walk history guide. There’s one for the statues and one for the buildings.
Restaurant staff who booked us in after 6pm gave us incorrect advice on the parking. Told us street parking was free to 9:30 am and the had 2 hours free. Thankfully we checked the signage. My fault… I didn’t notice a check in time. Maybe a checklist with up to date information for non-reception receiving guests after hours will help

The antiquated lift really is a pain in the but. Totally understand idea of maintaining a 19the century atmosphere but that is ruined by the Pokies. I am not sure what you really are trying to achieve.
my wife really did find that lift harf work.

beautiful historical building and true to its heritage. great location for exploring Ballarat. very central
a bath with no bath salts
a shower with no shower gel
sounds like a first world problem but that was $250 a night in regional Victoria

Only problem during our visit the lift wasn't working but they were waiting for the repairman.

historic and nicely refurbished
bathroom floor drained towards the door but it was of minor inconvenience.

That it was a historical property.
It was overpriced for the kind of rooms and the condition of the room.

The location was great and the food was Devine complements to the chef.
Would have been great for staff to help get luggage inside to our room.
