Clean
Nowhere comfortable to sit, shower was poor and the food choice limited anyone wanting a healthy choice
4.5
Friendly and clean
A eclectic mix of decor - but cheerful

We had room 522 which we really liked. The cleaning staff did an excellent job each day. The food was amazing.
The only slight negative I had was that room service came with a charge of £5 per person (so therefore £10 per time). If there has to be a charge at all, surely it’s the same effort to bring 2 plates at it is to bring one plate. It’s still the same amount of journeys.

Lovely hotel, with great amenities. Very clean and staff are so helpful and welcoming. Food at the restaurant is absolutely amazing. This is a fabulous hotel and can’t wait to go again.

Staff were friendly and very accommodating; we needed to change rooms due to an accessibility issue, and staff very quickly changed rooms and upgraded us for a reasonable price. Would also strongly recommend a massage that was glorious. Hoping to book again next year.
The shower was too hot and couldn't be used, but we were offered the use of the leisure area showers until it could be fixed.

It was quiet - apart from when there was a wedding party, which went on until half past midnight with thumping music and shouting and screaming. Breakfast was good.
Not impressed considering what we paid. The food was mediocre and burnt. The room size was disappointingly small - little space for luggage. The decor at the receoption is over-the-top flashy but very outdated. The room door did not close automatically, meaning that we found the door was open in the middle of the night. Two of the three nights were quiet, but the Saturday night was very noisy with a wedding party going on until well past midnight with loud thumping music. The sound insulation from the room bext door was very poor - we heard every detail of the couple next door's nightly routine. Overall, really disappointed for what we paid (£130/night).

Good selection of hot and cold breakfast everything you could wish for!
It more than fulfilled our expectations

Good value at £72 with breakfast
Very uncomfortable mattress, lumpy and could feel springs, room a little tired

Check out slow.

Swimming pool was excellent and the hotel was very clean.
Decor was bizarre, room was the most odd layout, (in the shape of a lower case h - literally). Worst of all, the bar and restaurant area stank very badly of boiled cabbage.
4.0
Very clean hotel with an exceptional restaurant.
Unfortunately some strange smells and our room was above a smoking area.
3.5
Restaurant on site, swimming pool, room with garden access, generous room size. Overall it is a nice hotel, looks pompous with it's furniture and gilding
On closer inspection there is quite a bit of room for improvement. The standard of cleaning was average, swimming pool changing area floor always a bit dirty and the same sticky stuff on the walls for 3 days. Shower head broken. Garden furniture legs broken, table in room wobbly, all sockets switched off and behind furniture...the list of little errors goes on and on. Would need a fresh pair of eyes to give it the once over.

The breakfast bacon tasted and smelled nice.
The pool was lovely and warm and made us feel comfortable.
The staff were very friendly.
I loved the interior decorating. Lots has been updated since we last stayed.
The bathroom drainage could be a bit pungent.
4.5
Excellent value for a comfortable short stay. Excellent leisure facilities included. Lovely bar area and pleasant restaurant.
Restaurant a little tatty in places and menu rather limited and expensive.
2.5
Good location. Plenty of parking. Shower was good. Quiet.
Rooms very tired. Sheets didn’t quite cover bed. Mattress way too soft (grandmas feather bed played in my head).
3.5
Good location, though tricky to find at night. Bed was comfortable, water hot and room and bathroom clean. Nice modern bathroom..There was one comfortable chair for watching tv. Staff were great, very helpful.
Lighting in the room was really poor. The wardrobe unit blocked the light when you walked in and there was only the bed light. They took away m hand towel on the first morning, and I never had one after that. I could’ve asked but forgot till too late. You couldn’t have worked at the desk as it was dark. Shabby decor in the hallways and spa area, and some of it quite odd eg strange white plaster statues plonked everywhere. Really cheap beaded curtains in the room. But I was comfortable.

Looked very Christmassy. Staff very helpful. Facilities - especially using the spa/pool area.
Some areas looked a bit tired or worn like tiles pealing on pool floor.
No drinking water from taps and having to constantly ask for refill of water bottles
4.5
Very friendly service, very nice ambience, great old features amongst the building. We booked a table in the restaurant for 12 people and were given our own room with great staff looking after us! Thank you!!!!!
Bar closing at 10pm seemed early for a Christmas family gathering as we finished our meal around 9.30pm
3.5
It’s a conference venue so rooms are just for sleeping in with no comfortable chairs. I booked based on the picture which makes it look like a small hotel. I resented lodging a card on arrival against any trashing of the room when it should have been obvious that I had booked and paid in advance personally.
1.5
That it was close to where we needed to be
It was absolutely freezing and so was the shower. When we mentioned it to the receptionist she told us she would get someone to have a look tomorrow which was when we was checking out. She told us to turn it up and we told her we had already done this and it just wasn’t working. Nor did any of the plug switches

Good value

Shower in room absolutely useless, not thermostatic and wouldn't even reach above shoulder height as it was a bath shower/fitting with one wall fix at 5ft which wouldn't then point down . Door broken on screen so water just sprayed on floor. Shower panelling and floor damaged , toilet felt like it was about to fall off each time you sat on it. Couldn't even see daylight from window as had a hedge directly in front of it. Lighting terrible, no shades and dazzling bulbs on one fitting. Cobwebs and spiders on walls walking through to bar, and staff at bar who struggle with to understand spoken English

Was fortunate to be given free upgrade so room was very spacious. Comfortable bed and good facilities.
Car park seemed very dark at night and even when I was able to get parked in area nearest reception it was difficult to move case and belongings up the steep slope.

Breakfast was good quality
Beds uncomfortable... no fridge.... no ac. Fan was from the war by the looks of it. Shower connections loose but managed to fix one myself

Useful location, generously sized room and very nice pool with large jacuzzi that was included. Reasonably priced, pleasant staff.. Large and comfortable bed and everywhere was clean.
Overall the hotel was a little dated but the rooms were being systemically upgraded. The furniture and furnishings in the lobby and corridors were made to look sumptuous and expensive but the style of lots of faux jewels, made it present as the opposite.. Access to the spa area was really good and enjoyed a swim after visiting areas. Again, some updating would be good but didn't affect use. The sauna and steam room could be hotter. No plug socket near a mirror when using the hairdryer - I moved the large mirror on the desk.
3.0
Clean. Close to work
WiFi was awful
4.5
Lovely building and grounds and the hotel has such brilliant staff who were polite, helpful and welcoming. Amazing food and a very comfortable stay in the rooms.
The facilities are a good mix but for children the leisure is limited to sitting in the garden or swimming in the very small children’s pool. With so much space a small play area would be a great addition to help parents keep smaller children occupied.
3.0
Good food & drink, decent pool and spa. Hardworking, pleasant staff.
Dated property, rooms need updating, small rooms and some really strange policies - like no additional water bottles while water in the taps in the room isn’t drinkable.
