The property is very well located nice view from our window
It very much needs renovating such a beautiful looking hotel but once inside you were very disappointed.

I sometimes stay here when returning from deepest Cornwall as its always a competitive price compared to other hotels and I know that the breakfast is always good. Parking was always limited but they also have additional parking over the road.

The room was clean and very spacious. The bar/restaurant was very good, extensive range of food and drinks. Breakfast was nice. Lovely location with sea views at the front and walking distance to the main town. Friendly staff.
Our room was located underneath the breakfast dining room so from the start of breakfast service we could hear lots of noise, people walking around etc. The room felt very warm and a bit stuffy as it faces the sun all day so it would benefit from aircon but there was a fan supplied which helped a bit.

Room was good size
Terrestrial tv did not work, Floor noise from upstairs was intense. Sleep when people walking was too much. Could not sleep when people were walking upstairs. Woken in the night when people were going to the toilet at 3.30 pm

The location is perfect
The pub was a tad loud at times
0.5 / 5.0
Breakfast was average. Room was hot due to the hidden radiator which was left on. Room was also not very clean and noisy as below the roof terrace and in the car park.
Better room.

Old and tatty
No plug sockets in room
Bathroom poor
Beds uncomfortable

Very good location with a good view over the promenade and sea. Cheerful staff. Power shower.
Creaky floorboards in room overhead. Depending on the guests occupying it could be disturbing into the late evening making sleep difficult. It is after all a Victorian building with wooden flooring.

I travelled alone to visit my friends in Torquay. Not once did I feel uncomfortable. The staff are super friendly and helpful.
Nothing The kitchen had a problem with the Electricity so we couldn't eat on arrival. But they apologised no ones fault .I walked to the beefeater down the hill instead

Nice out of town location, would be great in the summer. Free parking
Quite old fashioned, rooms felt dorm like. Bathroom finishes not great, loose fittings and coloured seals but essentially clean.
4.5 / 5.0
Very difficult to improve on location.
The food was very good especially the evening meal
The room very clean and very comfortable.
I could’ve done with a slightly larger shower but the one in the room was adequate.
Electric plugs somewhat scarce.

We had room 12 which was very nice and enjoyed views over Torbay. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast menu meant we were spoilt for choice - very good. The dinner menu had a good choice as well.
Well the hotel is sited on a hill, so a lot of steps to deal with, so not too good if you are disabled. We were told there was no lift, so my wife struggled to get up to our Room 12 on the first floor. We did however spot a lift on the landing, but it was not working or had been turned off. Can't the management afford to have it fixed? Also the chambermaid service varied, on two mornings the double bed was made up properly. On the third morning, the duvet was just thrown over! The shower was effective and simple to use, but when sitting on the toilet, we noticed the wall mounted radiator/towel rail was very clean and shiny up top, but nearer the floor, there was a lot of muck accumulating on the lower rungs!

Location and friendly
The property is a pub with rooms

The breakfast was a choice of one of 5 options. Then the basics (coffee, tea, cereal, toast) also available
Room ok.
Hotel had a very random layout. Easiest way to room was via the bar, which was a bit strange .
Tv in room didn’t work. No view from window (faced part a wall of the hotel and a bit of car park).

The location
The property was tired, unkept and very outdated.
We arrived and checked in at 2pm, a door key (a key, not a card that controls the power) was handed to us with ‘Green’ breakfast tokens. The room was located up a flight of stairs, through a corridor and through two doors (the lift was out of order, throughout our stay). The room was a good size, nice view but very outdated. No plugs in the room for chargers but provided with an additional extension lead to be used with the existing extension lead that powers the tv. The bathroom looked as if it had been renovated at some point but not maintained, very small cubicle shower and toilet had a temperamental flush. Breakfast wasn’t great and we went to Costa most morning to dodge the coffee. We went into the pool but note that it’s not available all day, restricted times, chargeable to hotel guests and dirty!

After paying £130 for B&B expected guests to pay another £5 to use the pool for only 1 hour
No lift or help with luggage

The view was wonderful. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The loud music was quite bad but it did stop as promised by 11.30pm. It's quite the hotspot so if you are bothered by loud music don't stay there.
