Really enjoyed Mikinuya guest house. We had the annex family room which was spacious, clean and had lovely details.
Staff were lovely. Food included was good.
Enjoyed the private onsen as well.
Just to be aware the family guest house is not on the same property but across the road.
It was not an issue but is good to be aware of this.

This was by far our favourite accommodation in all of Japan. We had the guesthouse to ourselves and didn't realise how lovely it was going to be. The 2 spaces were fantastic and the views over the garden were beautiful.
We also enjoyed the common areas with the kids playing card games and making oragami. It had such a lovely warm atmosphere.

Extremely warm and caring people. Beautiful property and great stay
Parking was a bit difficult however island location is always an issue

Calm simple ryokan off the beaten path, friendly relaxed and welcoming staff, great mix of guests with ample opportunity to connect with people.

The accommodation was clean, beautiful and easy to find. The tatami room is so comfortable and the garden view was stunning. We really enjoy our stay, and will definitely go again!

Location was perfect, only five minutes from the Torii, and close to the nicest areas in Miyajima.
Breakfast and dinner were simple, but very good.
Staff was super nice and helpful as well!
There was only one shower for the entire floor, which meant we had to queue a few times.

This stay for us was novel, not something we would normally do but fantastic! We slept on futons on the floor & used a private onsen! The location was perfect. A very friendly atmosphere, communal dining room, kitchen & bathrooms. They even supply a basic dinner (the curry is amazing) & breakfast in the room costs, as everything on the island closes early.

This was my third stay at this accommodation within ten years. Some things changed a lot, some stayed the same. Positive here is:
- nice house and rooms
- clean
- they offer a simple but good breakfast and dinner
- you can reserve a private Japanese bath in the afternoon and evening to relax
- great access to everything you wanna visit
- good wifi
- nice staff
- you can stay in Japanese rooms or dorm rooms. In the dorm rooms you have full privacy in your bed due to a proper a curtain that covers the entry to the bed.
There is nothing I dislike. Nowadays the hotel is much more crowded as so many people stay overnight on Miyajima. But I can totally understand as it’s really worth it.
Only the beds in the dorm room are a little bit hard, but still ok :)

We stayed in the annex. Lovely and quiet. Liked the owner humble guy doing the best he can. Liked the guests we met in the communal areas, great conversations.
Add a few more plates, cutlery in the annexe kitchen and more tower rails to cater for a family of four
4.6
Very nice personnel, offered good advice and were generally helpful
AC in our room was a bit weak and it was a bit of a walk from the ferry

The guest house is absolutely beautiful. The room had a great view and you could even see the ocean. It was aesthetically decorated with some modern elements. The staff were so helpful and made you feel at home. The location was perfectly off the Main Street, so it was quiet. It was conveniently located on the road to the cable car. The onsen facilities were clean and peaceful. Overall, we loved our stay so much!
Nothing!

Very nice guesthouse for a stay on Miyajima. The employees are very friendly will provide you with any information needed (e.g. restaurants that are still open after the day-tourists leave). Additionally, you can buy cup noodles/drinks for reasonable prices at the guesthouse.
Great rooms with good view to the garden (and the village, depending on your exact location). As a plus, a random (tamed) deer might hang out in the garden.
This is a perfect location for spending one (or more) nights on Miyajima. Would absolutely come again!

BEST guesthouse in Japan, so far! Beautiful and huge spaces (collective kitchen, living room, entrance, big windows with view on the garden). The dormitory was super clean and well organized (just 4 beds). Possibility to privatize a "onsen" bath. Many books and games. Very kind and helpful welcoming (in English!). Good vibes! Perfect location. Totally worth it for 1 or 2 nights on Miyajima.
4.6
Very organised guest house with friendly staff. Large very bright lounge with views of the sea. Well stocked kitchen. Pleasant onsen with a big window onto a little garden.
We loved our bedroom with views onto the sea, with big bright windows and comfy chairs. The futon beds were also very comfy.
Nothing.

I loved the traditional Japanese room and the view I received. Everything is clearly within walking distance. The staff was terrific and could direct me to the location and gave great recommendations on what to do and where to eat. Highly recommended.
4.6
very warm welcome and amazing views from the room. complete japanese guest house experience on a budget
shared bathroom service is something we are not used to, but it was ok for one night.
4.6
The house was a lovely Japanese style townhouse with tatami floors, shoji screens and a tiny rock garden in the middle. Very authentic and just what we wanted in Japan! Also a very nice private bathroom and great hospitality by the owner.
A bit of a walk from the ferry terminal (20 mins) and no cabs available at night. Plan ahead if walking with bags.
4.6
Staff were so welcoming and helpful, and the facilities with the onsen were great. I had a room to myself and it was lovely and spacious with just me haha. Absolutely beautiful view too!

The receptionist suggested great places to visit

Very charming, authentic Japanese guesthouse. It was very pleasant to stay here, the dormitory is not cramped with beds, there’s even space for sitting and looking outside into the garden. There is also a terrace with a beautiful garden where you can sit in the evening. The location is close to the main shopping streets, the big tori and the mount Misen hiking route. It is even possible to bye simple foods at the guesthouse like noodles, rice, chips, ice cream and drinks.
4.6
Beautifully decorated guest house complete with a huge lounge area where you can watch tv, play board games, and even play the piano or guitar. The well-equipped kitchen is also stocked with beer, drinks and cup noodles that you can purchase.
Very spacious traditional Japanese room with tatami beddings. We enjoyed the view from our room and also the private hot bath facility within the guest house. The manager (I think his name is Junior) is really nice, patient and polite.

quiet and off the beaten track, but still close to the O-Torii and the main island attractions, extremely helpful and friendly staff (took the time to explain the surroundings - thanks for being so helpful!), stayed in the annex across the street - a traditional house with simple design
everything was excellent, would try to stay longer next time

Beautiful place. Staff super nice and a beautiful Cat!
