cleanliness of toilets & location
giants run a mock in the buildings!
2.5
The location was good and central.
The toilets were pretty disgusting on our floor so we had to use a different bathroom on a different floor.

staff on reception was not very helpful

the mattress was comfortable
first of all I called the hostel to book in with my friends but as I was leaving earlier I asked which was going to be the best way to go as I wanted to share the room with my friends. they told me I just could have made two separate bookings and then give them a call to be putted in the same room. I did that and then they didn’t give us the same room as promise and they were not able to find a solution to make me happy either. The rooms were very smelly and it was dirty especially the kitchen (we were scared of touching anything in there) and bathroom fans, but most of all the staff was really bad organised and not competent: I had an issue with the laundry service as I was asked for a deposit but they just took my card and they blame me after all for not paying the deposit. they gave a timeframe for the washing but then they called me half and hour earlier to returned the keys when I was at the museum and they just ruined my day by being rude and pushing when we were on different agreements.

The location is amazing
It needs to be cleaner… for real…
Some furniture needs to be replaced, it’s falling apart.

the check-in time close too soon and the room was not clean enough. I found someone’s underwear under my bed even though I was alone in the room.

Friendly staff member I spoke too over the phone. Pillow and bed were very comfortable.
Laundry hours are plain ridiculous 9am until 3pm $8 per hour.
Signs in bathrooms telling you you will be evicted for hand washing laundry in the bathrooms yet it's very difficult to do laundry before 3pm when you are busy travelling.
Whole place was dingy. Filthy old carpets need replacing
Woke up to get breakfast at 615 and the kitchen was locked - couldnt even access fridge or the kettle.
Kitchen floor was literally slippery with what I believe was grease.
Only stayed here as YHA was full, I'm staying in YHA tonight as part of a tour and it's 100x better at similar price.
With some renovations and relaxation of stupid rules this place would be a lot better.

Location awesome and friendly staff. Also a cool community room.
Dusty bedroom and paint peeling off the walls.

A $20 late fee for checking in after 5pm. Then they wanted cash!
Floors were not clean and bathrooms also needed a better clean.
Very seedy atmosphere.
No lift to 3rd floor.

the location is great. Excellent for getting to inner city Hobart, the water, markets, food, everything you might be after
Turned up at the time I said I would turn up - between 8:30 and 9pm. Place is closed with a number to call. Took probably an hour before I could get anybody to come and let me in. There is a $20 late check in fee that had not been mentioned earlier and applies any time after about 5. Payable in cash on check in,
Then my room had been double booked so was not available. They eventually sorted me out to stay in a "staff" room that was somewhat less than the room I had booked (I had other friends staying there and visited them in their rooms and the difference was significant) - the shower near the room did no more than dribble unless I wanted it cold.
They were totally booked out and so I was unlucky. Probably not a bad stay under other circumstances.

Location
Most awful experience in my life Disgusting disrespectful staff so dismissive and uncaring The signs up everywhere felt like I was been constantly monitored and that they were only after money Freezing cold room no hit water downstairs and no heater in room

Lock on the door to bedroom was great as was central location
Felt unsafe, having the “night entrance” be a back ally way where the door to the building is held open with a milk crate was not a good first impression. People were up at all hours of the night having loud conversations and yelling. Additionally, at check in when I arrived at 7:01 pm I was told I would need to pay a 20$ cash “late fee” I was not expecting

Nothing

Horrible experience.
they denied us the stay because they wanted to charge us more than what we already paid booking.com
staff is very unreliable
2.5
centrally located, room was large, wifi reliable.
reception and the main entry is only open from 9:30am to 2:30pm daily, and there are no staff working outside of these hours. you have to use the (inappropriately named) “night” entrance at any other time after 2:30pm to 9:30am to enter and exit the building. we never used the normal entrance over our 3 day stay as it was always closed. if you want to check in outside of reception hours you are charged a $20 cash fee.
mould prominent on walls/ceilings of bathrooms
