The Banana House is beautiful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was really nice and helpful. The breakfast is delicious. The garden with the swimming pool is very nice.
The house offers daily yoga classes.
Because of the flowery garden (which is nice), the house has a lot of mosquitoes during the day and the night.
The house is not on the seafront, you have to walk 2-3 minutes.

The entire stay was luxurious and so relaxing. We liked staying during the low season as it was very quiet and super chill. Breakfast was incredible, staff were amazing, pool was glorious. It couldn't have been more relaxing and recharging.
There wasn't anything to not like. We enjoyed for a change that there wasn't much to do. There are activities if you want to find them but we enjoyed not doing much of anything.

It was well done
Just the corridors from the ocean walking on Donky poop

The food was great with an amaizing view. The room is very open wich is quite needed in the high tempurature environment. Great pool but it can get crowded. We enjoyed the Swahili dinner experience very much.
The fact that the room is very open can impact on your privacy if the rooms in the next building is occupied. If there is a party somewhere it will be loud. It was construction and renovation time before the vacation season so it was noisy during the day but this is not to be blamed on Banana House. A kind warning beforehand could have been helpfull.

Great breakfast, friendly staff, very easy going and helpful. Nice simple decor
Maybe some more choice for pillows. Building work next to the pool, they could put up a net or bamboo fence to give some privacy at the pool.

Great location, 3 minutes walk to the beach and about a 6 mins walk to Peponi and beautiful beaches past this.
When you were greeted at check in the staff gave you an induction of things to do & seemed very friendly, however that was the last you saw of the lead. The owner said a quick high and then was only really seen from afar. The rooms were uncomfortably hot at night as the fan didn’t seem to do very much and so trouble sleeping, on top of closeness to donkeys making noises. It was hard to find who to talk to as everything was done over whatsapp. One morning there was a two hour staff meeting by the pool, great for organisation but at no point did they consider that someone might want to order a drink or get some service by the pool. There were so many ants, flies and mosquitos that I only did yoga once and found it too unbearable. Seemed to be bitten a lot around the pool and even under the mosquito nets in bed. Upon check out you are notified of a 3.5% additional fee despite Booking.com quoting ‘all charges included’ in the booking price, as well as stating that 50% of payment is taken before check in (this is not true). Breakfast was ok, nice setting around the pool but the staff actually asked me to move because they needed the table for a larger group so I had to take my coffee to my room. I asked for new towels by putting them on the floor but didn’t get any. I could go on. The place has all the charm of somewhere amazing but the staff seem to be reactive rather than proactive at service. Was baffled by the owners lack of care.

very amazing surroundings
feels fresh, safe and serene
room was upgraded to a glass lodge with a nice view and flowers planted so you get a nice view of the Mara in the distance but also fresh flowers right next to the window
food was amazing, kitchen team and Chef Patrick offered us a private dinner for our group of 4; excellent food, wonderful experience.
The other Masai staff performed on both nights for bout our group and others
they also have a bonfire burning every night so you can get lovely time by the fire an opportunity to enjoy the starry night and also meet other guests
Staff walk with you if it’s late around the camp so you always feel safe

The service, location, rooms and food were all great. For those enjoying yoga there are several courses a day and massage/beauty treatments are available. I definitely recommend this accommodation.
The WiFi wasn’t always as fast as I am used to. Furthermore the pool area is nice but very small (luckily a very large beach is close by).

This is a wonderful place to stay! It's a little haven from the busy lanes of Shela and Lamu Town .... so peaceful and calming. Its pretty garden, pool and relaxing ambience make it a stunning choice to totally unwind.
Yoga and a massage spa are available.
The staff are friendly and personable and the food is excellent. One evening we had a choice of a swahili meal cooked by local women ....incredible !!
We loved our stay and were sad to leave.
There was nothing to dislike!!

Inefficient management. Customer service can be improved (no help at all with luggage). Pictures of rooms do not match with what is finally offered

The name says it all, the staff and the general atmosphere is one that tends to your wellness. We enjoyed each moment of the stay, especially waking up to the amazing view of the Indian ocean. The food was on another level, making the experience heavanely.
The main bedroom door is see through which reduces the privacy
