I liked the sound of rushing water from the 'dining 'room. Very soothing 'white noise' . The open plan of the dining room, to terrace to swimming pool was light and airy.
I would have liked better lighting in the bathroom. A well-lit mirror over the basin would also improve the bathroom.

Not much.
Not clean at all - from the linen to stains on doors and dust on the floors.

Clean, swimming pool, honesty bar. It was quite comfortable, great bathroom.
It was a bit noisy.

Absolutes no go:

The free coffee and staff were great.
The toilet lights are set on automatic however when you having a bath the lights will go off and even if you wave your hands, the lights stay off and then you will have get out of the bath but this happens constantly.
Also, I think there is a leak in the bath or around the rubber. You run a bath and after sitting in the bath for some time, the water level is low and I constantly checked if the plug was in.
If you have a quick shower, the tiling is sloped that the water runs into the room from the toilet.

the staff were great, facilities and breakfast
The Lab device didn’t work properly and technology a great idea but not that user friendly.
Room needed maintenance with mould above windows and also a proper spring clean as lots of dust under bed

Nice pool chilling area, easy bar system to get drinks. free sparking water. luxurious and tidy rooms, very close to Main Street of Fransschoek. adjustable lights and music in the bedroom.
we rented bikes to go to different wineries, was fun.
had to wait 45m for breakfast twice, due to large groups that had to depart early. make sure to check what is a good time to have breakfast.

Room was large and airy, with walk in shower and free standing bath. Comfortable outside seating for breakfast, and around pool and hot tub. Excellent breakfast served inside at long communal table, and under cover outside. Cold filtered water and sparkling water free on tap. Beer also on tap with honesty box system, as are a selection of wines. All staff very welcoming and friendly.

We had a great stay. I would recommend TheLAB to anyone who's looking for an unusual hotel experience in Franschhoek. We'll definitely be back :)
There wasn't any water in the coffee machine, so it took some time to figure out how to add water. The iPad/room controller wasn't charged either, so we couldn't use it during our stay. These are just tiny things though. Our overall stay was great.

The host was amazing. Really kind and attentive. Made us feel totally at home. The hotel was lovely with a really clean but also homely feel. Couldn’t have been happier. Would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Gerald, our host, was very friendly and ensured a smooth check in. The room was state of the art and we really enjoyed the home automation as a novelty. The bed was comfortable and there were nice amenities included throughout the guesthouse. The pool area was very nice and the hot tub/plunge pool was a extra treat!
Our room was located very close to a common entertainment area, which unfortunately meant that there were a few guests who got drunk and rowdy quite late and that disturbed us a bit. We lit a fire in the fireplace in our room, however, the smoke wasn't extracted properly and the room became really smokey. I would suggest the installation of smoke detectors in the room to avoid a serious incident.

Steriel gevoel, wc en shower in de kamer zonder afscheiding. Aircon did not work in de hele lodge.
