I loved the interior decor in keeping with a beachy cottage feeling. Also loved the up to date clean and bright kitchen. We enjoyed the SUP paddle boards every day in the bay. And occasionally walked to Main Street for dinner or coffee.

We have stayed at this property for 3 years now. It has the best location- only 4 houses from the boardwalk on a very quiet street. Only 4 blocks from Marine and a nice walk to the Balboa Ferry. Home is comfortable and very clean and includes all the amenities you need. It reminds me of the quaint home in the movie The Holiday- quaint, English cottage.

We spent a perfect week at this wonderful cottage home on Balboa. You can tell from the moment you walk in that this home is loved by the owner. Spacious front room and back room. 3 bedrooms upstairs were just right for our family. Highly recommend and would book again in the future.

This was our second year staying here and the house was just as wonderful as before. We couldn’t have asked for anything more in terms of comfortable beds, excellent communication, proximity to water/shopping/dining. The house is gorgeously appointed, the kitchen is well equipped, the WiFi excellent and we loved how centrally located the island is. There are excellent dining choices walking distance from the house but Newport is just a cross the bridge. My daughter took surf classes at Huntington Beach (12 minutes away) and we love the beaches south as well: crystal cove 15 min, Laguna 30 minutes. But what we really appreciated is that we could walk out of the garage with our kayaks or the paddle boards graciously provided and be in the water in minutes. We come to Balboa Island every summer, we’ve stayed in 3 other homes, this is our favorite place to stay.

This was our second time renting this very charming cottage. It is only 4 houses to the boardwalk/bay and is located on a very quiet street. It is a convenient walk to the main street where the restaurants, shops and convenience stores are located. It is also close to the Balboa Ferry which takes you to the beach. While it does not have air conditioning, there were plenty of "tower fans" in the home to circulate the air, especially at night. It has a garage for parking your car (very important on the Island) and access to a washer/dryer. We love this cottage and highly recommend it if your are considering vacationing on Balboa Island.

We had a great time in this beautiful, original Balboa Island home. Having a front patio with table and chairs and lounges was wonderful to sit on in the morning and afternoon. Close to the beach and downtown Balboa Island just just what we wanted. Hope to come back again next summer.

Charming
Storybook home on charming street of Balboa Island. Favorite feature of home is front porch. Only drawback was microwave and oven not working properly. Made it difficult to cook for my family.

The most charming beach cottage!
We stayed on the island last year for the first time and fell in love and couldn’t wait to come back. We rented this perfect little beach cottage this year and had a great experience. We fell in love with all the original charm to this cottage. Layout was convenient for us. We’re a family of 5 with kids ages 6,4,2. Perfect location when walking to the beach or the shops/restaurants. The street was very quiet and the neighbors were friendly. Definitely would rent again!

Cottage Heaven
Enchanting! From the peaceful patio to the adorable antique phone bench. Stepping back in time where you are able to take long deep breaths. Clean peaceful cottage close to all the action - but far enough away to hear silence. Definitely our new favorite!!!

Cute Cottage on Balboa
Cute, clean Balboa beach cottage. Liked that rental dates could be flexible, longer than a week. Check in etc was very easy. Would definitely recommend!

Ideal Location
This cottage is darling and beautifully appointed.....the neighborhood is very quiet and the home is only 1/2 block from the bay. Easy walk to the Ferry, the main area of Balboa, and even Fashion Island if you want to take a good, hearty walk. Bed was comfortable and even though it was a warm week, the house stayed cool (fans were appreciated, too).

Cozy home, best location
We had a wonderful time in this lovely, well appointed home. We greatly appreciated the homey touches and the proximity to the beach. Veronica responded quickly to any questions we had but the instructions and layout were so user friendly, we had nothing come up. Having a garage made day trips a breeze and we enjoyed eating our dinners outside on the beautifully planted lanai. We looked forward to the morning and evening visits from a hummingbird as well as a monarch butterfly. I highly recommend this property and host.

True Balboa Experience
This is a classic Balboa cottage. There are quaint features everywhere you look, yet all all the modern amenities are there. The cottage is within easy walking distance to the bay front as well as the the downtown shops and restaurants. I can’t imagine a better place to spend a lovely vacation!

Great beach getaway
We had a wonderful few days on the island. The house is adorable and so close to the beach, shops, and restaurants. We loved that we didn’t have to get in the car once we got there.

Balboa Island Cottage Treat
The cottage was perfect for our family and close to everything. We checked in at 3 pm with no problems. No need for air conditioning, the ocean breeze was all you needed with a little help from the standing fans to push the cool air. We ordered take out most of the time however did cook in. There were plenty of dishes and pans to use. Having paddle boards, boogie boards, beach chairs, and beach towels in the garage to use for our stay was fantastic. The home was exquisitely decorated and comfortable for our family of 5. It was like staying at are own beach cottage. Loved it! Would highly recommend to others.

Great cozy cottage
We had a wonderful week in this charming cottage. The location can’t be beat. We were able to walk anywhere on the island and didn’t even need our car. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed for the week. It was more like staying at a friend’s house than in a rental - the owner even had it beautifully decorated for the holidays!

good location, nice patio with garage not worth the hassle
It's a good place if you are looking for a centrally located vacation spot. It's missing amenities that make it a good place to hangout. The fireplace wasn't working and the owner was able to schedule the repair man on the last full day of our vacation which we opted out. The electric stove dial numbers are worn down and difficult to manage the temperature. Even though we had purchased groceries we ate out or ordered take out. The owner left items at the house and stopped by on the 2nd day to pick up then a day later sent me a text with a list of items for me to look for around the house so she could pick them up on the 4th day. The owner also sent me texts to retrieve her mail and packages out for delivery and where to store them so she could then pick them up. It seemed like we were paying a family friend at a discounted rate to use the house rather than a rental property. The owner also claimed a mirror was broken which didn't occur while we were staying on the property. I would not recommend this property to a friend.

Lovely Historic Cottage
The cottage has a homey, not rental, feel. The furnishings and decor are high end but yet keep to the cottage feel. The house is situated on a very well preserved historic block on the island and is located close to a nice sandy beach. The kitchen is fully furnished with everything you could possibly need. We had a wonderful stay with our daughter and grandchildren. There is an alley to cross to get to the sandy beach so little children must be chaperoned. Neighbors are great; upon arrival, a nearby homeowner offered to parallel park our vehicle. TVs are on the small side for today's standards which did not bother us. If you're looking for a big screen type of house, this may not be for you. Located just blocks from shops and eateries. Great place to kayak and use SUP boards. We had a fabulous time and would go back again.

Made our trip!
Staying here was such a treat! We felt so at home and enjoyed lingering at the cottage, as did our friends, on the patio and by the fire. This place made our trip so relaxing and we would for sure come again. Thank you, Veronica, for a spring break to remember!

Beautiful and very charming Balboa Island home. Perfect location!
We spent a fabulous Christmas week in this wonderful Balboa Island home. First of all, Balboa Island is simply magical at Christmas time and being able to enjoy the holiday and relax in this gorgeous beach cottage was heavenly. The house is beautifully decorated and well appointed. The living and dining rooms are spacious and very welcoming. There is a back den area if more space is needed. The kitchen has everything you would need. The bedrooms are darling with beautiful linens and plenty of closet and drawer space. I think our favorite feature of this home however was the beautiful front porch area. It is very large with a table and chairs, lounge and surrounded by lush plants, fragrant flowers and a lemon tree loaded with lemons. It was simply wonderful to sit out on the front porch with our morning coffee or an evening glass of wine and watch the world go by! The location of this home is perfect. It is very close to the water in the harbor but off the main Balboa Island promenade so it is quite quiet and private. You can easily walk to restaurants, shops and the Balboa ferry which takes you to the Newport peninsula and more restaurants, shops and of course the ocean. The owner Veronica was available and very easy to work with. We would definitely recommend this home and can't wait to come back!

Best Christmas Ever!
You could tell the minute that you walked through the door that this sweet Cottage was owned by a decorator. It was inviting, cozy, comfortable, charming and oh so welcoming. The living room with its large and attractive fireplace was the center of our holiday. We hung our stockings and settled in. It is ideally situated, to walk to the main street and only steps from the boardwalk, yet offers privacy and quiet. We enjoyed walks each day and evening and were fortunate to arrive in time for the wonderful Christmas Boat Parade! Could not recommend more highly.

adorable vintage balboa island cottage
I spent a week with my 6 year old daughter in Veronica's gorgeous home for our last week of summer. This is the prettiest Balboa island rental on Vrbo. The decor is both sophisticated and welcoming, and the house itself is a quaint meticulously kept dream with adorable dormer windows in the front bedrooms. The front garden is magical and populated with butterflies of all colors. It is a fairy tale cottage! This home has all the amenities in perfect working order from the front patio barbecue, washer, dryer, dishwasher, garage, comfortable mattresses, soft luxurious sheets, to the down pillows. It is a 5 star hotel translated into the intimacy of a home. The location on the south side of the island is perfect-4 houses from the beach and a short walk to the ferry which we rode every day to the ocean. The home brought me back to a simpler time of my own childhood spent in Balboa. We will definitely be back next summer!

Wow, what a wonderful house!
My wife and I spent a week in this lovely beach cottage with our teenage son who was having eye surgery at UCI. We wanted something quiet and comfortable, yet close to dining, shops, and the beach. Well, this was the PERFECT place! This is a wonderful vintage beach cottage that is well designed and beautiful, it also has a really nice front patio for dining or relaxing and a good size garage with a washer/dryer, which is a must on Balboa! The Owner and the neighbors are delightful and friendly and you can walk anywhere from this location. I highly recommend this property, Veronica is wonderful to deal with and has incredible taste!
