Leuk, charmant hotel in rustige buurt.

Leuk, klein hotel. Mooie kamers, erg charmant zoals in de naam. Bed is fantastisch!! Groot en zeer comfortabel. Kamer zelf ik ook ruim en aan het zwembad gelegen. Zwembad is niet heel groot maar prima voor een verfrissende duik. Ontbijt is ook heerlijk. Vriendelijk ontvangst en goed advies over waar te gaan eten. Aanrader!!

Lovely, quiet hotel with a great breakfast and friendly owners

We loved our stay here. La Ramona Charming is a lovely 5 unit hotel, just a few mins away from everything you need. The hotel is family owned. They are all very friendly and helpful. A daily breakfast is made to order and it is delicious. You won’t walk away hungry for sure! The hotel is tucked away on a quiet side street, just a 5 min walk to the shops and beach. The rooms are comfy and the wifi works well. We were a group of four and stayed in the family suite. It worked well for us. We would definitely stay again.

Very good stay

The location is very calm and on walking distance from the the center and beach. The hosts were very friendly to also provide breakfast before the actual hours so that we could eat before our surf class.

Minor detail. The airco was placed right across the bed so with airco it got too cold at night, and without it was just too hot.

Frühstück ist o.k. Bequeme Betten Großes Zimmer, viel Platz Die Betreiber waren sehr freundlich.

Dir Fotos sind leider völlig veraltet, die Unterkunft ist in die Jahre gekommen. Es wirkte alles etwas lieblos ohne viel Liebe zum Detail. Unsere Außendusche wurde von einem Ameisenvolk bewohnt, es lag trockenes Laub darin und die Blumentöpfe enthielten mumifiierte Reste von Pflanzen. War also nicht zu benutzen. Die Amaturen im Bad sind total oxidiert und sind eher weiss als verchromt. Rund um den Pool war alles vertrocknet und es gab keinen Liegestuhl o.ä. um sich dort mal niederzulassen.

Pro's and Con's - would think twice about re-booking.

Staff - the owner was really friendly as was the housekeeper/maid/chef (all one person). We had a couple of power cuts as well as 1 day without water (however this was across the entire town and nothing to do with the hotel). What I want to flag was how helpful the owner was. He had placed a big 12 litre of water outside the room to drink while it was out and any updates he had he shared with us. 10/10. Location - not far from the beach with nice restaurants and bars within a 5 minute walk.

I thought long and hard about this as while I don't want to harm an independent business, I was dissatisfied by a few aspects. Cleanliness - In my opinion this was lacking. While the sheets were spotless, a number of areas of the roomed needed more attention with multiple cobwebs in the bathroom, around the mirrors, light fittings etc. The grout in the floor was dirty and the toilet needs a deep clean. In my opinion the root cause of this is that there is only 1 person who's a multi-combination housekeeper/maid/chef (mentioned above). She was lovely and I believe she has cleaned the rooms as best she could, but given she has so many responsibilities she is clearly overworked. She handles everything from check-in to cleaning, cooking breakfast and there are 5 rooms to tend to. With breakfast between 8-10am she does not have anywhere near enough time to clean up after breakfast, prep fresh rooms for check-ins while looking after existing guests. The back of the curtains are filthily, granted you don't seem them frequently but when you do it's not something you want to touch. For example we stayed in the room with the outdoor bath, when walking back into the from after a shower the first thing you see are the dirty curtains and it't not something you want to touch after cleaning yourself. On the topic of curtains only 3 curtain cover the main door into the room from the garden, as a result you get BRIGHT LIGHT shining through the large glass doors are 5/6am. No great if you're tired after a long flight and would like to sleep in. The shower area itself also needs a refresh, with a number of stains on the wall. The rooms look tired as a result and being able to spend some extra time to deep clean would go a long way. Also a fresh lick of paint is badly needed.

Charming sums up this Tamarindo find.

We liked everything about the property and our stay. We were welcomed by the hosting family and were allowed to store our luggage as we arrived earlier than check-in. We love that the hotel is family-owned, and the rooms were spotless. The outdoor shower in our room was a nice surprise. Our patio featured a swinging chair which became a favourite spot for reading or catching up on emails. The property is not beachfront, but after a day at the beach or in the centre, we were happy to return to our quiet retreat located a short walk away from all the hustle and bustle.

The outside bath(room) was awesome

The outside Bath and shower were awesome. With the candles it was really romantic.

Just the wine glasses were missing (because there was an opener), then Everything would be Perfect!

Lovely, homely boutique hotel in Tamarindo.

The staff were all very kind and helpful, the room was lovely as well as the pool! All very clean, breakfast was tasty with fresh fruit as well, and a good distance to the town of Tamarindo where there is a lot to do. We loved our stay here, we just wish it could have been longer!

Exceptional

La Ramona is a great spot in Tamarindo if you want to be close to town but not too close. It is quiet and so relaxing and Paolo the owner is laid back but still very attentive to all your needs. The room and outdoor shower were so nice and larger than my wife and I expected. It was a great home base and only 10 minutes walk to the beach and 5 minutes to town, coffee and shops. Loved it!

May not suit people who don't like to walk to work up an appetite.

Very comfortable with good location and security 24/7

The room was very modern and comfortable. The outdoor shower was so good after a day in the sun. The bed was comfortable and the AC did a good job keeping the room cool. The pool is very nice as well. Overall, it gave a very home-like vibe.

The breakfast lacked a little flavor for us locals, but it was fresh and a good portion. Having some options to choose from would be good too.

Stayed for a week, our room was very spacious, a/c worked with no issue, had a small fridge, coffee machine and coffee. Loved the breakfast (fresh fruit, super tasty coffee (I suggest you to order one bag from Pavel for taking home on your arrival, it takes time to bring it in) eggs, toasted bread, butter, delicious marmalade and Gallo pinto (rice) for the included breakfast. Very much appreciated to Pavel's (owner) hospitality so rated as "Superb". Cute boutique hotel close to the center but away from the noise. 5min walk to the market/restaurants and bars, 10-12 min walk to the beach. Do not forget to book for shuttle bus for airport transfers in advance (pp $25) We went two excursions during our stay - a day trip to Nicaragua (included breakfast and lunch) and full day combo trip (ziplining, horseback riding, river tubing, hot springs included lunch).

Fair value for money

The location was great and staff were friendly. It felt very safe there which was good and there was wine waiting for us in the room when we got there. The AC was also great and the bed was comfy.

It was not easy to find the property but the parking was convenient when we arrived. Our stay was nice, ultimately it was fair value for the money we paid. The room we stayed in could do with a deep clean and the pool could too. I do feel the pictures used may have been from some time ago.

Pleasant Stay

The property was super clean and only had about 4/5 rooms so it really felt like your own private space.

10 days for our cousin's destination wedding in lively Tamarindo, full of partying vacationers

We enjoyed talking to Pavel and appreciate his hospitality. He and his family and staff are very helpful and friendly—the perfect hosts. A full Costa Rican breakfast each morning was a great start to our day. The location is close enough to walk to the beach, restaurants and shops, while far enough to be quiet at night. We didn't mind no ocean view, since the courtyard, landscape and decor are so tranquil and beautiful, and we could walk everywhere without a steep climb.

Costa Rica is tropical, so we had to get used to ants and spiders. It's also a developing country, so the plumbing is super sensitive, and the hotel and their supplier ran out of water for a full day. Although our room and beds were comfortable, the pillows could be softer... But no real complaints! Pura vida!

Charming in tamarindo

from the minute we found it tucked away from the Main Street we were charmed!!! super sweet boutique hotel

we loved how small the property was. we were greeted by Pavel and his adorable little boy and felt welcomed right away . our room was fantastic!! the bed was not only modern and beautiful but super comfortable. I was surprised on the size and the indoor and the outdoor showers!! great touch. Sadly we o my spent one night so we didn’t have so much time to enjoy the pool . Breakfast was great !
