We had a nice big room with beautiful interior design. The host told us many nice spots for food and activities in the area when we arrived. When I forgot my Kimono in the room after leaving, she even sent it to San Jose for me. Definitely a recommendation!

Agélie the owner was the absolute best tour guide of Tamarindo. Great guidance for restaurants and activities. She set up amazing surf lessons for us. Was always very attentive to our needs and also friendly throughout our stay. She does an excellent job keeping things running smoothly for her guest.
More lighting in the room and bathroom and in shower shelving in bathroom to get ready would be helpful. Some type of storage for clothing you need to hang is ideal as well.

nice clean room
In the first 30 minutes we arrived we were told everything we were not allowed to do… not very fun after a day of driving and does not help to feel welcomed. Also we’re asked to leave a “cash” damage deposit…

The location
We did'nt like the vibe, trully not a Costa Rican vibe. Although a very good location and clean indeed was not a good stay! We got nervous because the owner asked for cash payment or additional 11% of comission if we pay with credit card. This is not acceptable, therefore we wont recommend this place. Pura Vida!!

Great location, the place looks nice from the outside, and the staff is very friendly.
The bathroom towels are very old and stink. Payment by cash is not convenient.

My son and I liked everything in Villa Nautilus! The room, the pool area, the breakfast, the very nice owners and staff…. we had a wonderful stay. We wanted to take Lenzo with us, but he escaped…

I was very warmly welcomed by The Hosts Agelie & Laurent. They were so lovely, helpful and hospitable. They gave me a full guide on local Tours and great suggestions on areas to visit. It was perfectly located close to the beach which is where I spent most of my time. Agelie provided a a beautiful breakfast of fresh fruit, coffee and home made spreads/bread (French cuisine to die for) which set me up for the day. The outdoor pool area was the perfect setting for an end of day Vino and to watch the sun go down. I absolutely can’t wait to return again soon ... it was the welcome break that I needed. I LOVE this place! Thankyou Agelie & Laurent for your incredible hospitality ... it was so greatly appreciated 🙏
Nothing could’ve been better

Agélie and Laurent were fabulous hosts! They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The food was delicious, especially the homemade jams. The room was very clean and comfortable. A great value and overall wonderful experience!

The communal area by the pool was delightful. Loved it. And much of the time we did have it to ourselves.
The property itself is great, close to all amenities and the beach. The hosts are wonderful and helpful.
What we were disappointed with was our room. Be careful with room choice. If you get the ones facing the pool, they seem wonderful, however the one to the back and side of the place is dark, gets very little light. For a beach stay, we were extremely disappointed. This room is not advertised well, so be aware of this. They say there's a garden view which really amounts to a path outside your room that leads to the common area. If you're looking for a light, airy room, make sure you do not rent the one in the back.

Breakfast was tasty and fresh, with the exception of the homemade jams. Location was perfect in terms of proximity to beach and downtown.
Rules upon check-in, which were followed to the letter - were advised that smoking was "unusual", but yet given horror-story examples (no smoking inside gate). Given choice of "scrambled" or "fried" eggs one morning - requested scrambled with cheese - was told that was "unusual", but could add cheese (next morning's breakfast was cheese omelet). Advised that NO bath tissue could be flushed (also given horror-story examples of guests who ignored the rule). Advised that A/C unit would freeze up if turned lower than 24 degrees celsius (approx 78 fahrenheit). Requested to turn down just 1 degree (literally sweating all night), but were advised that was impossible (again the dire warning the system would freeze up). The ending, Saturday morning (flying back to U.S. next day): had required Covid test taken on "private" balcony - owner raised her voice and said that test would have to be taken directly below balcony in public space by pool, not outdoor on our balcony. She then screeched that the nurse would "just have to wait" because breakfast was meant to be served hot(!) - when we said we did not mind, we just wanted to get the test over with, we were yelled at again, regarding the temp of the breakfast. Went downstairs anyway and took test (5 minutes). Other guests pulled nurse aside to ask about setting up their own tests - forced to beg nurse to leave so that we could lock the gate before we'd get yelled at again. Followed all rules, and wish we had been treated as paying adult guests, rather than small children. We were told by other guests during our stay that they were very disappointed they could not enjoy the pool in the evening, as all lights were shut off in the pool area at exactly 9pm, again as if there was a curfew. Again, we were all mature adults and paying guests, not small children, or loud teens or 20-somethings.

The property was located close to everything I needed, yet was tucked away enough from the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo. Agélie was very nice and extremely helpful! She took time to help me understand the area and the best restaurants. She helped me set up round trip transportation prior to my arrival and recommended some excursions that were great.
The staff was great and cleaned my room throughly everyday. My room was exactly as pictured, the bed was comfortable, and I liked that there was a kitchen with microwave and fridge. The property was secure and I felt safe, even when coming back at night.
I would highly recommend Villa Nautilus and will definitely stay there again when I come back to Costa Rica.

The staff and ownership were exceptional and provided us with everything we needed. We had a beautiful time and would stay here again.
I think the current regulations for covid 19 make it confusing for check in. We would love to interact a little more but nothing that was in owners control.

Location is amazing! 2 minute walk to the beach, to the grocery stores (important for families!) and great dining. We really enjoyed the pool area and the quiet setting as well.

Everything was perfect!!! Don't even hesitate, just book it. We were in one of the two rooms by the pool. It was large with a nice little kitchen area with everything we needed. The outdoor space is very special.
The nicest owners who live on sight, Agelie and Laurent. They even helped me try to track down a lost debit card after I left.
I've been to Tamarindo before but never stayed. From now on I will always stay at Villa Nautilus!!! ❤❤❤

The location is fantastic for Tamarindo and Playa Langosta. The garden and pool area is simply beautifully done and the 2 ladies that work in the property maintaining it work so hard - they do an amazing job. We stayed in a 2 person studio and it was cosy and comfortable - exactly what we needed. The owners of the property are knowledgable, friendly and attentive. It was very secure and quiet at night.
We opted not to cook as felt it may be difficult in our studio but no biggy. There is no card machine and you do have to pay in cash which is a pain. We would have loved the garden area to be lit up till past 9pm which tended to be the cut off. We loved our stay but the owners do live on site too with a little one and we did feel at times we perhaps didn’t have as much freedom as we would have liked with the property rules. Something to bare in mind depending on the holiday you want.

The hosts are a lovely French couple. The grounds are maintained and the pool area is quiet AND comfortable. We loved our room with the terrance. The mattress was soooooo comfortable. Being served a deliciou breakfast on the deck made the start of the day delightful. The walk to the beach and downtown Tamariindo is minimal. There are many great restaurants in the area and prices are REASONABLE. Villla Nautilus is an oasis in a bustling town. Highly recommend! Villa Nautilus is extremely well maintained an clean.
There was nothing not to like!

Villa Nautilus guest house is a tranquil oasis right in town, walking distance to the beach and everything in town. Because it’s located off on a side road it’s also a nice and peaceful escape. The exceptional aesthetic of the property feels like a French beach resort with a refreshing pool. Agelie has great tips on restaurants and nearby beaches where you can surf and find the best shells! Breakfast was superb! We even had the owners homemade jams, felt so pampered. I will definitely stay again when I return to Tamarindo.

The hotel was very comfortable. I loved how intimate it felt having our room floor level and right off of the pool.
Loved everything about it!
