Die Einrichtung und die Sauberkeit sind außergewöhnlich und mit Abstand das beste was wir auf unserer Reise durch den Senegal hatten.
Auch die Mitarbeiter (vor allem die Köchin) sind super freundlich. Auch die Besitzerin ist hilfsbereit und immer vor Ort.
Die Unterkunft liegt etwas außerhalb vom Stadtkern. Leider gibt es lediglich ein Restaurant (Italiener) in laufnähe.

Beautiful place! They went above and beyond to make it feel like home - the sea view was really nice and restful, helpful staff, and located in a peaceful neighborhood. Also the bed was very comfortable.

Nyéléni maison sahel is beautiful. it is welcoming. The art has a prominent place throughout and each room features a different theme. The garden is a delightful place to sit and relax and read or just watching the birds flying about. Seeing the ocean waves from our room was an added treat.
The breakfast was perfect, fresh fruit, croissants, bread, jam (the hibiscus in particular was a favorite), orange juice and really good coffee.
The staff was super helpful, in particular Delphine and Mamadou who went out of their way to help us, once walking us to a nearby restaurant on our first day and then making rice for my husband who had some slight stomach troubles.
Virginie, the owner, is welcoming and so helpful, driving us to a cash machine so we could get CFA’s and providing useful information on where to go.
Were we to return to Sénégal I would stay here again!

This is a quaint guest house with 6 bedrooms that gives all of the attention and quiet that you need! It's a tucked away oasis in what can be a dusty, noisy city. The hotel and grounds are beautifully decorated with amazing local artwork, you can tell the owner has put a lot of personal touch and time into making it a lovely place to stay. Downstairs there is a communal living room area and dining table and outside there are several tables where you can take breakfast in the garden. The pool is refreshing and there are chairs and seating that make laying and reading a book a pleasure. Rooms are VERY clean and well kept. There is a small fridge in the common area that you can store some food. Staff doesn't speak English but the hotel owner and gentleman watching the grounds at night both do. I will definitely be staying here again!
The location of the hotel is bit hard to find and not on a direct main road. For this reason, catching a cab requires a 5 minute walk out to the main road. The nearest restaurant on foot is also about a 15 minute walk. The hotel owner was very helpful in always calling a cab for me to the hotel doorstep, when I needed it.

I loved staying here for a week. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony for my morning meditation, the peacefulness, and being able to get around easily. The pictures do not show how beautiful this place is. It was perfectly decorated with lots of amenities to keep you comfortable during your stay. I will be staying again.

The stay was very special, a true hidden gem. The house is decorated with beautiful items curated from West Africa. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly, and always there to help us out.

Virginne and the whole staff were incredible. The hotel felt like our own private house with a quiet room to ourself as well as multiple other areas to lounge and drink a coffee, read/write. The neighborhood felt very safe.
The location wasn't walkable to any restaurants. We thought it would be walkable to a nicer beach but as stated earlier the beach was incredibly dirty and full of trash. Not sure if this is just the Yoff location but the water was out for multiply days so at the hotel so we were using bucket to flush the toilette and shower. They made that experience wonderful but it’s not for everyone. Last suggestion would be to mix up the breakfast a little if someone is staying for a week. I love bread and jam but it’s tough to eat for 4 straight days.

The only small disadvantage is the location - a bit distanced from the town centre, although taxis are inexpensive so it’s not a big issue

I really liked the decor, cleanliness and warm reception from staff. The host had a list of places to go to for lunch/dinner alongside with the estimated taxi price and distance-this was so thoughtful. They even organized a taxi for us to go to the airport. It was absolutely lovely to stay there!

I have mixed feelings about the location. There was only one restaurant within walking distance. But I loved being walking distance from the roaring sea.

First, I must state I have NEVER stayed in one place beyond 6 days but I thoroughly enjoyed my 11-day stay at Nyeleni maison sahel. The staff is beyond approach and go out of their way to ensure that you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The owner, Ms. Chambaz, greets her guests everyday to ensure that your needs and questions are addressed. Her recommendations and suggestions assisted me in navigating around the city.
Although the grounds were lovely, I encountered singing birds, I played with my favorite dog (I miss you Midi), I heard ocean waves heard all day and throughout the night, wonderful artwork encompassed the entire property (inside and out), I slept in comfy beds, I perfected my pool game, and enjoyed a wonderful daily continental breakfast, it was the staff (and Midi) that would bring me back.
In the words of Maya Angelou: "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
A special shout-out to ALL at Nyeleni for making me (and my husband) feel special 😘
Not necessarily dislikes but more like advice to help others:
The neighborhood had to grow on me because it is residential. But after walking and meeting some of the residents and even spending time at the local salon, I enjoyed it. The location is a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of Dakar, but is welcoming after a busy day.
As advice for English-only speaking visitors, please brush up on your French. You will be at a big disadvantage because most people don't speak or understand English.
The taxis are a NIGHTMARE! Please understand your fare before entering a taxi. Even after negotiating a price, taxi drivers will try to increase your fare. Your host provides you cost for taxi fares; however, on your return, fares will be increased. So please have this expectancy. If you're comfortable driving where the rules of the road are not necessarily clear, renting a car might be a better option. Google maps work!
Note to Americans: It is a continental breakfast. Please don't expects eggs, bacon and potatoes. However, you will get fresh fruits, lots of bread, wonderful preserves, local honey, coffee and juice. Your keto or no-carb diet should be suspended during your visit to Senegal. Although fish is plentiful, so is the greatest breads and delicious rice.
