About this chalet rental
This new lakefront cedar log cabin is available the rental season! Minutes away from Mount Snow and Stratton, winter activities include: skiing, ice skating and ice fishing. Also 2 miles from the center of Wilmington.
The property has 160 ft of water frontage on Spruce Lake. Fish for brook trout in this privately stocked lake. Take our 2 canoes, 2 kayaks and paddle board out on the lake for a fishing or site-seeing trip. Swim from our private beach or canoe to a shared beach at the end of the lake. Fall asleep to the sound of the brook running just outside the cabin!
This is the perfect family vacation. The lake does not allow motor boats and the lake frontage has a shallow sandy entry.
Wildlife abound!: The lake, brook and surrounding woods provide a perfect wildlife habitat.
This year we've seen: moose, black bear, deer, heron, beaver, otter, geese, ducks. The family of ducks ask to be fed at least twice a day. Moose tracks have been seen on our beach. And a pair of black bear are well known to the area (keep the trash cans lids latched!).
The brook has brook trout, frogs, turtles and crayfish. And of course the lake is loaded with perch, brook trout, rock bass, and mud puppies.
In the surrounding woods the kids will also enjoy catching salamanders, newts, and garter snakes.
Waterfront Fire Pit ! We have a burn pit on our private beach. We provide the firewood; you provide the marshmallows!

This was our 3rd summer at Spruce Lake and as in years past, it was amazing. The location is perfect - just 2 hours and 15 minutes from Boston. The lake is ideal for kids and teenagers, big enough to support all the fun stuff (canoeing, SUPing, swimming and fishing) but small enough that there are no power boats and the kids can enjoy it independently without hovering parents. The house is perfect for a larger group with plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms and common space. We lucked out with the weather with the exception of one day that was so so, and made the hour ride to Jiminy Peak to do the mountain adventure package (alpine slides, mountain coaster and other activities) which was a blast. There is plenty of hiking and other activities closer as well. We always bring our own food and cook but there are plenty of restaurants in Wilmington and the surrounding area (Beer Naked Brewery!) Maybe next year we will finally do some hiking if we can get the kids to leave the lake! One of our favorite activities is cooking on the fire pit, and we made breakfast there each day. Just a few pieces of advice to pass along...based on previous years we brought kitchen trash bags and paper towels with us which was helpful. There are no dish towels in the kitchen - an easy fix - but would suggest bringing a couple. A cast iron skillet would also be helpful as most of the pans have seen better days. Thanks Tim for a great vacation. We look forward to coming back next summer!

While there was most of the expected equipment in place, the overall impression was not great. Can only say the description of the property was optamistic. A reported problem took 2 days to get a rsponse. Problem was resolved, but lack of acknowledgement of comunication was disappointing. Finally, upon arrival wiping out the fridge was needed.

Booked this house kinda last minute for a short get away. The owner was very responsive and answered all of my questions about the property. The location was excellent and many in the group enjoyed spending time in the lake. House was well maintained and roomy for my group. Would definitely stay again.

We really enjoyed our week at the house. The lake is small but lovely to swim and kayak in. The teens caught lots of fish at the shore and out in the middle, which was fun for them. The house is close to town, without being right in town, which was perfect for us. We all loved the fire pit and the ping-pong table downstairs! It was low-key, fun vacation.

Great property with direct lake access. Small lake which was great for kids. A lot of wildlife especially birds, great blue herring, ground hog, frogs, fish and occasional small bear passing by. Game room a big hit with kids especially ping pong and of course occasional video game. Loved having our coffee on the deck each morning. And s’mores around the fire pit in evening was a great way to end our day. Enjoyed a few small but very good restaurants in town just minutes away for dinners out or take out enjoyed on the table on the log cabins deck. Tim the owner was great to work with. Very responsive and helpful. Place was very clean and beds very comfortable. Overall a great place to relax.

We enjoyed the lake and fire pit. The lake was lovely and swimmable. It was great to have paddle board and kayaks to use too. Only also criticisms, it would be nice to have more chairs for the dining room

Wonderful little lake!
We really enjoyed this property- had 2 families there and all had a great time. Excellent host communication and the beds were comfortable (I’m very picky!). Very short drive to the nearest grocery store and the flea market on weekends was wonderfully quaint!
Only thing that wasn’t great was the kitchen frying pans, if you plan on doing any cooking you should bring your own as the ones that are there are well past their lifespans.

We had a very enjoyable stay. It was quiet with plenty to keep the kids happy and occupied. We’d gladly book again!

Great location but needs a good cleaning
Pros: The location of the house and spaces within and outside the house can't be beat. The lake is more of a pond (small) but great for short canoe rides, kayaking, and fishing. We had 3 generations at the house and there was plenty of room to be together and also spread out as needed. We used the fire pit each night and enjoyed easy access to nearby hikes and attractions.
Cons: The house has beautiful windows looking out at the lake but they were filthy- so many hand prints and smudges. The kitchen sink, kitchen floor and appliances were also not well cared for and dirty. Some updated, more comfortable furniture would make the interior spaces, especially the living room and dining room, more enjoyable.

Nice house
Overall the house was nice. They could have spent a little more time cleaning, floors were a little dirty. Some of the items like throw pillows and bath mat should be changed out for less worn dingy ones. For the price of the stay, some furniture could use an update or new cushion covers again dingy. The supplies were lacking. I needed to go out and buy more toilet paper and tissues which I feel should be provided in the price of the stay. The frying pans could be changed out as well. Also, we had to buy a lighter to start the fire. I am sure because of all the rain, the landscaping was over grown. Just a few inexpensive up grades would make all the difference in the feel. The place was plenty big enough, the water was nice, and the location is near many attractions and hiking. We used the paddle board and canoe often. The ping pong table was a hit! The bathrooms were clean and nice. Plenty of places to hang wet clothes and towels, which you do not usually get in rentals. That was nice to have. Plenty of space to spread out. Beds were comfortable. We brought our own linens and towels.

We had a wicked amazing family vacation!! The memories made were fun and full of laughter!!! The lake was refreshing! Kids loved fishing, paddle boarding and hanging out at the little beach/dock area!! We loved the fires by the lake. Loved hiking, scenic views and local businesses from coffee shops to breweries. We will definitely be back!!!

Lovely home
The property was lovely, well kept, clean and roomy. Our family trip included littles, a teen and adults and there was plenty of room inside the home and outside! We were comfortable and the property was as described online, no surprises. Tim was super responsive and communication was clear. Would highly recommend !

Another great Wilmington Weekend
This was our 2nd stay at the Ryan’s Spruce Lake house and it did not disappoint! The weather was predicted to be pretty terrible, but fortunately they were wrong and we had two great days on the lake. We love the location because the lake is small and our kids (ages 8-14) are able to be more independent, taking out canoes, kayaks & paddleboards across the lake to the swimming dock. We can see them at all times and feel comfortable letting them go out on their own. The house is rustic and well equipped with pretty much everything you might need. It was also cleaner than our stay last year and the beds were made when we arrived which was really helpful. We love the lake, the fire pit, the deck (grilling!), ping pong table, and communal areas for meals and playing games. The location is also great for exploring the area - though we have yet to do much because it’s hard to leave the lake! We hope to be back again next summer!!!

A wonderful week at Spruce Lake
My family, including 4 grandchildren under 13, all enjoyed our week at Spruce Lake. The house was clean and spacious with ample seating, and well stocked with linens and kitchen cooking equipment. BYO paper products and wraps. We especially loved the covered deck for grilling and dining on those hot sunny days. We very much appreciated the air-conditioning as it was a hot week! The yard and lake were just perfect for lawn games and boating and swimming and fishing. All you need is sunscreen!

Beautiful Lake Front Property
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lakefront property. There were 3 canoes, 2 kayaks and 1 paddle board for us to enjoy. The lake is beautiful!!! This was a special vacation for us, our 7 year learned to kayak here. Tim is a great host, he provided us with all the details we needed. The other family with whom we went by mistake took the house keys with them to Connecticut, it didn’t bother Tim at all and he just asked us to mail it back to him. It was an absolute hassle free check in and check out. We loved it!!! Thanks Tim!!!

Relaxing
It is a very quiet small lake! If you want a little down time this is the spot. The home was very spacious, you could all be together or doing different things inside as well as outside. I would stay there again!

Beautiful getaway
It was a clean house with plenty of room on a beautiful pond. Had a great deck to hang out on and the yard was good to play games and have a small camp fire. I would recommend bringing some pans and cooking utensils as those were a little lacking but over a great time

After a year of no travel, this was the perfect “change of scenery” destination. The house was exactly as it was presented on the site. It was clean and had the perfect floor plan for a family that wanted to spend time together but also might need their alone time:) We went in mid-April so it was “mud season” (didn’t know that was a thing) do a lot of trails were closed but the canoes and kayaks at the house kept use well entertaintained outdoors! There was also plenty of wood for the fire pit amd the indoor wood stove. Our only wish is that we could have stayed longer!

House was everything we anticipated. Very private, spacious and comfortable, the finished basement is a nice bonus area. Overall clean (we are very particular about cleanliness) but would recommend bringing your own linens and towels. Will keep this house in mind for the future

Perfect location, perfect retreat
Our family *really* enjoyed staying here. We're a family of 4 (14 year old twins) who were looking for a change of scenery. Since our kids are virtual schooling and my wife and I are remote, our biggest worry was the wifi. Absolutely no problem. But what makes this home unique is the lake view, combined with the close access to Mt Snow and Wilmington, plus the "everything you need" home. The kids really enjoyed the ping pong table and even chess (they finally beat me on the last night). I loved the wood burning stove. Everything was clean and the home was well stocked. Tim is super responsive. We hope to stay here again!

A perfect holiday retreat
Our family spent Thanksgiving weekend at the house. It was just perfect. The hosts have created a warm, inviting place where we felt right at home, and the setting on the lake is beautiful. We hope to go back and again and create more memories.

Excellent experience
I would certainly recommend this place to anyone looking for a getaway. Everything we needed was provided and other items were easily accessible at the local grocery store.
I called/texted the owner/manager several times to ask questions. He gave me great answers. I was most appreciative when I later found that all of the questions that I asked him were already answered on informational postings in the kitchen area (and he didn’t give me an attitude when I called/texted him with those same questions).
Our experience was exceptional. Thank you!

Great trip
Was perfect for what our group was looking for. Quiet, plenty of room and wonderful location. Antique flea market down the road was neat, this place is far enough away to be peaceful but has plenty of small stores in the area if you forgot something or need to restock.

Beautiful and quiet
This was the perfect spot for my family to unwind. It's very quiet since it's a small lake with few houses around it. One of my sons caught a small rainbow trout, and we all caught quite a few perch so the fishing was fun. The house/cabin is beautiful! The beds we used were very comfortable with nice quality sheets and blankets. Another reviewer mentioned that they didn't like that the beds were not made up. It only took a few minutes to put the sheets on the bed and we only used 3 out of the 8 beds there, so now they only have to clean sheets for the 3 beds we used. I see that as a positive.
The only thing I wasn't happy with, and this is not a huge deal, was something a few others commented on. There wasn't any paper towels, plastic wrap, baggies, trash bags, dish soap or dish washing detergent. You're then asked to put your trash in plastic bags and take out to the bins and put your dishes in the dishwasher and run it. The next place we went to had a new sponge ready for use in the kitchen, bags of all kinds, paper towels (+ extra), dish soap, hand soap, dishwasher detergent, etc. When you rent a place like this you expect to not have to bring anything but your clothes. It felt more like camping in a really nice house. I didn't want to have to buy a box of trash bags so I could use one.
Still, we were very happy with our stay and loved the home and area.

Simply majestic!
My family and friends were looking for a large, clean, and well equipped place to rent up in Vermont and we came upon Mr. Ryan’s log cabin on a lake. The outdoor activities were so much fun for the kids. Kayaks/canoes and fishing were amazing. The outdoor fire pit and indoor wood stove kept things warm and there was plenty of wood for us to enjoy. The home was clean and well stocked with kitchen items. The accommodations had plenty of places for everyone to sleep, nice clean bathrooms with clean linens and towels, and we had amazing meals with a grill out on the back covered porch. The location was very quaint and near hiking trails and plenty of activities for us to do. Tim was very responsive and we would be happy to rent here again and again. This time of year was Absolutely perfect weather! Thank you to the Ryan family for sharing his place and providing our kids with such great memories from this trip! Regards, Mark R.

Great Cabin on Lake!
Our family needed a change of scenery after months of being relatively homebound in NJ during the pandemic. Tim's cabin was such a great choice! We loved the combination of spaciousness and charm in the cabin and on the property. The property itself felt serene and private, yet was close enough to local attractions . The cabin is beautiful, well-maintained and thoughtfully equipped. Tim is a great host who is easy to communicate with and very accommodating. We look forward to returning again!

House by a lake abounds with nature
We had a great and relaxing stay. The house is in a very tranquil setting and faces a small lake. Lake is perfect for easy and relaxing canoeing, kayaking (provided by owner) and swimming. There is a fire pit by the lake with chairs around it to enjoy during the cool late-summer evenings.
