Ottimo ostello

Staff gentilissimo, mi hanno dato la camera in anticipo visto che era pronta. Ottimo ostello con aree comuni comode e funzionali. Tutti gli ambienti erano pulitissimi. Camera molto bella e spaziosa con una doccia enorme. Wifi veloce.

Tophostel! Hele leuke sfeer! Super vriendelijk personeel! Leuke setting! Ik zou zeker terug gaan.

Ik check nooit of de hostel een airco heeft dus nu ook niet, ze hebben er ook geen, enkel ventilatoren, maar dan nog was het erg warm en kon ik moeilijk slapen. Misschien aan elk bed een kleine ventilator voorzien (heb ik in eerdere hostels bvb gehad en was heel fijn).

Ein sehr nettes Hostel mit top Lage.

Tolle Lage, super ausgestattete Unterkunft. Man bekommt dort jedenfalls tolle Tipps bezüglich weiterer Reiserouten, etc.

Unsere Zimmer grenzte genau an dem Technikraum weshalb es jedesmal laut war wenn jemand das Wasser aufdrehte.

Pequeños detalles pero no opacaron la estadia. Las chicas fueron amables y predispuestas.

La ubicacion fue muy buena.

Nos quedamos en habitacion mixta. Las cuchetas son muy calurosas tienen pocos ventiladores y los mosquiteros estan rotos. Sufrimos mucho el calor. La ducha le faltaria lugares para apoyar los elemmtos del baño.

Waste of my money

we booked a private room for our rest. the room is adjacent to the kitchen, which serves as a meeting place and where continuous noise and music comes from. There is also a sofa next to our room... On the other side we continuously hear a family shouting and making music. We are surrounded by noise from all sides and there is no 0.0 peace! It's not worth the money and we feel cheated!

Übel riechendes Doppelzimmer

Entspannte Atmosphäre Nettes Personal Zwei süße Katzen Gemütliche Gemeinschaftsbereiche Kaffe 4 free

Das Doppelzimmer hat enorm nach Kanalisation gerochen. Das Haus ist auf kleinen Stelzen gebaut und durch die Dielen zieht übler Kloakengeruch ins Zimmer. Die Klos und Duschen sind direkt daneben, mit jeder Benutzung sowie starken Regenschauern steigt der Geruch an. Irgendwas scheint überzulaufen. Trotz 2 Ventilatoren und Rauchstäbchen grenzwertig aushaltbar. Bei 2 Nächten Aufenthalt wurde vom Personal keine technische Lösung gefunden. Kein Preisnachlass, nur eine erneute Zimmerreinigung wurde angeboten, was das Problem nicht gelöst hätte. Ein sehr schönes Hostel ansich, leider hat die Erfahrung diesen Aufenthalt überschattet. Ich rate stark von der Buchung von Doppelzimmern ab! Schlaft lieber in den Dorms. ;)

I had a beautiful time at roots! The owner, worker and volunteers was absolutely lovely and made me feel such at home:) Highly recommend this hostel, the dorms is very comfortable, and really its a perfect place to stop and just be. Thanks again a lot🧡🧡🧡

Great place, bad timing to go probably

The scenery and the size of the bed. The decorations were really nice and the staff was very understanding and accommodating.

The water was not working, so taking a shower was not really an option until a certain part of the night. The room was extremely hot by the day time.

Nice place, beautiful room and shower, only of our 4 days stay, there was not a lot of water, to shower, brush our teeth, drink or pee.... Really annoying. They said it was because it is dry, but it made the stay a lot more unpleasant.

I didnt really like the vibes there. Theres a bunch of volunteers making a group and you don't really feel like you belong there too.

Room was big, chill out area was nice. Good location with lots of recommendations for restaurants etc. very traveller orientated.

Puerto Viejo is very hot and the room was very stuffy - AC would have been a great help! Room very dark and lighting was bad in it.

Nothing.

Walls are made of bamboo sticks so we can hear e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. We can almost see in the neighbor's room as there are holes between the sticks. Also, I got sick from the "filtered water" they have. There were mosquitos all over the place, more than there is in restaurants.

The place is good, I just recall Costa Rica is overpriced.nRooms Puerto Viejo are horribly expensive, hence the dormitory. Just frustrating that, for this price, I would have a large room with ensuite bathroom and A/C in Mexico or Guatemala...

Cozy cat-loving hostel

Little, but cozy bedroom.The daily morning visits of one of the four cats were very sweet and a good waking-up ritual. We liked the atmosphere and positivity of Roots Family. It was nice walking barefoot on the comfortable parquet-floor.

At friday night there was a loud party till the morning in the neighborhood. But it was the only night we slept not very well. Unfortunately we didn't get the warm coffee in the morning that was promised. It would be totally okay if there was none and nobody told us that we could get some. It was just the unfulfilled expectation after we were told, that there would be warm coffee for us.

Feels like the place is run by volunteers only. I couldn't notice any cleaning activities doing the three days I stayed. Unfortunately, it was extremely loud every night till very late due to party music from a bar across the street

Helpful Staff. Great Location. The hostel looks lovely. Large dormitory room, every bed has got locker and mosquito net. Nice and relaxing atmosphere.

- Centrally located in Puerto Viejo, so if you do not mind the noise coming from bars/shops, you are very well positioned

- Hygiene is below standards: 1) rooms have a constant smell; 2) their cats run over all furniture including the kitchen; 3) the place is a bit run down overall - Staff is not helpful. They sure have a good time among themselves, but have been of no help during check-in & check-out whatsoever.

The hostel is just beautiful and has such a nice vibe. The staff and owner were really kind and helpful with everything. Location is great and the place is super clean. Full of cats and the cutest dog ever. Recommend %100

Hostel with nice, chill vibe. Nice volunteers working in the reception. They have a no shoes policy which means that there was no sand on the floor, really nice for a place which otherwise would get full of sand, and in that case our bags too

The double with shared bathroom was veeeery small. One sqm of floor + the bed. Mosquito net end fan, one light bulb. There was a hanger in the room which helped a lot to keep some order in your stuff. Only two toilets, which were occupied to often for it to be convenient. Big, private shower booths, two of them. Expensive for the tiny room, no soundproofing to other rooms or common area.

Very cool hostel with a welcoming, familial vibe. The common area is very nice and everything is clean and tidy. The staff is very friendly and you can organize tours easily and get helpful information. The location is just great, near the center but far enough for the ones who appreciate it a bit quieter.

We had a private double bed room that was just next to the kitchen, so it was a bit noisy. Also there was no possibility to get fresh air into the room and it was very hot these days. The toilet is just separated by a curtain from the bedroom, be prepared ;)

I booked a single room that was literally a shack made out of bamboo sticks. it was super hot and there was no room to barely walk around the bed. you could easily book a room in a cheap hotel for the same with better facilities and space. odd atmosphere

Lovely hosts

What a cool experience I had at this hostel. The place is very clean. It has a great location, near to the beach and main street. Chantal (the owner) is so lovely and Emi, Maxim and Isa are so friendly volunteers that i even ended up playing and hanging out with them haha ✌️:)
