Exactly what I needed. Somewhere quiet that was close to Puerto Viego.

Exceptional

Good parking and area. Better to have a car to go around. You can also rent a bike here. Clean, very warm hearted people. Fully equipped kitchen. Working AC and Wifi

Well-maintained place!

THERE IS AIR CONDIOTIONING IN EVERY ROOM!!! The place was very clean and well maintained. Staff was super friendly. There is a nice and well-equipped outdoor kitchen for cooking. Place is a bit outside of the city center but in a walking distance. There are bicycles for rent at cabinas (5$/day) or you can take a tuktuk (2000 colons/one way).

Sound-proofing is maybe a bit poor, you can hear street dogs, birds and other guests. There could be some hooks in the room to hang your towels, bags etc.

I was impressed with the spotless absolutely clean room. Immaculate! I enjoyed a comfortable sleep and was treated so kindly by the owners, that I will not forget them. I definitely recommend Cabinas Hukats Secret Jungle. What a local gem!!!

Very good

Room was Nice and clean! Bike rental was available for 5$/day which was perfect to get around the area! Its outside of puerto Viejo center but it was an easy enough walk and even easier with the bikes! it’s close to the black sanded beach which is really cool!

Not necessarily a bad thing but fyi: There’s a bird family living in a tree next door that loves to sing at night :p

Good hotel

This is a nice hotel outside the center. The room is clean. During the day it becomes very hot inside the room but you have a fan. Unfortunately the fan was very loud in my room. Next to the hotel is a tree where you can watch and hear beautiful birds.

As a single women you should not walk the way alone from Center to the hotel. Always Take a taxi.

Relaxed, mostly quiet lodgings

Even though Hukats wasn't what I expected, the hosts were genuine gold. Wonderful to us, helpful always in our two week stay. Hubert and Katia are lovely people. Our room was clean, and we could have had daily "maid" service, but didn't ask them to do that.

Essentially the place is five motel-like bedrooms with a bath. There is a common kitchen to cook what you want. Other guests did respect our food supplies. It is a long walk to the beach. Playa Negra is make of volcanic ash rather like graphite: so not so good for staying clean. The surf is better about a half mile walk along the beach, closer to Puerto Viejo. PV is a beach town: relaxed, full of tourists, with necessary stores.

Hukats was a perfect little gem! Riccardo our host really was amazing. Nothing was to much trouble and he was very helpful answering any questions we had and really just an all round Nice guy. Hukats had everything we needed. Our room was a good size with private bathroom hot showers and comfy bed. Outdoor undercover kitchen was equipped with everything you need for cooking breakfast, Lunch, and dinner if you want to. You can also hire bikes from here as well. It makes getting into town a bit quicker than walking. Although I did enjoy the walk to town along the beach. Beach is a 3min walk this is and all round great place and highly recommended it. Thankyou for having us.

Simple, clean, kind and comfortable! Highly recommend!

The owners were very lovely. I arrived at the bus station in town without service and knowledge about how to get to the property. They arrived via car and took me to the Cabinas which saved me a lot of time and stress. I wouldn't expect this, but it goes to show how willing they are to help!

Perfect for people with rental car

Book this accommodation if you have a rental car. It is very safe, seen that you can park your car on the locked property. It is not in the centre so less suited for us as backpackers. It was nice that we could rent bikes for 3000 colones per bike (good deal). Friendly host and nice outdoor kitchen area.

Too far from the centre for backpackers.
