Hippy vibe with a cool top floor hammock hang out
Internet did not work for all three days. Endless street traffic and noise until the wee morning hours. Advertised balcony with ocean view was over a kitchen with a limited view of the chimney vent! No soap. Bare bones living.
6.0
La proximité avec la ville.
La cuisine pas très accessible pour cuisiner.
10.0

Not to clean .

Nothing
Dirty baths, when I wanted to park, the parking lot was full and I had to leave the car out. The owner of the hotel was drunk and was disrespectful with us.

El mar justo al frente
El color de la habitacion era deprimente.
La ducha jalaba y estaba rota y el inodoro manchado adentro mal visto.

Perfect location right opposite Playa Negra and close to shops, the bus stop and restaurants.
Excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Unfortunately there was no hand soap in the room when we arrived and the staff were unable to provide us with any after we asked.

Locación to the bech
Overall everything. The bathroom was dirty and I almost electrocutad myself with the shower head

Staff here are super friendly and helpful. The space is basic but very comfortable and considering it's a communal space, the space is well maintained and cleaned regularly. My room was comfortable, clean and came with a fan. No complaints, good value for money - many thanks!
Personally, I hate sharing my space with strangers but this is not a personal criticism of the place. Considering this is the case, I think the experience I had was positive on the whole.

Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Ownership was super friendly and accommodating.

The location absolutely amazing. The atmosphere around very good. Caribbean style.
It needs some renovation. The price is too high but I think that depends on Puerto Viejo system.
10.0
it was a close walk to town and there was a built in bar and restaurant
7.0
Good location, 5 minute walk to the centre of town. Can flag the bus from across the road, to go to Limon, Cahuita, etc. Decent sized rooms.
Kitchen was recently closed, as guests were stealing cutlery, which is a shame. Light meal prep was possible on request however.
1.0
The location was satisfactory as it was opposite Playa Negra beach and just a short walk into town.
This place should be advertised as a hostel, not a hotel. It is like staying at a party hostel. Most people staying there are drunk (including the staff), the rooms were very basic and not cosy. We couldn't sleep because of constant noise throughout the night from some of the guests. I would highly recommend avoiding this place. There are so many other lovely places to stay in Puerto Viejo for around the same price (such as the cabinas). We had to check out 3 days earlier and find another place to stay because the place was too unpleasant for us, but the management refused to reimburse us and were very unhelpful.

Rouven the manager was a likeable chap, very hospitable and helpful. Great location opposite the beach and a short stroll into town, away from the madness.
I couldn't even find a glass. Kitchen was not well stocked.

Location, views, breakfast (is no longer included)
The recepcionist smell, he was drinking beer and smoking everytime. The room was very small and dirty, the blankets were too old, the towels were dirty, the bathroom was not completly clean….

The location was perfect. The hotel in general is a very no frills location in front of the beach. Keep that in mind when considering. It's great for what it is. I booked one of the private rooms with private bath. I really enjoyed the accommodations there, they were modest but a perfect beach location. Walking distance to town. The staff was nice. I would stay here again.
The shared kitchen and fridge unfortunately is...shared. Grown adults don't seem to pick up after themselves so unfortunately it often is left messy.

it’s a good location, nice places for relaxing outside of the room (veranda, hammocks, restaurant/tables downstairs)
in theory: nice to have breakfast included in the restaurant
the room/bathroom was quite dusty and not very clean, sheets were fresh but had stains, pillows were super bumpy.
out of 3 days, we could get breakfast 1 day at the hostel, the other days the restaurant was closed (we were compensated though to get breakfast in town which was nice)

Nicely built, complete with all facilities!
Cockroaches and lizards inside the room!

A little noisy

Very friendly and helpful stuff and owner. Awesome view at a black sanded quiet beach. The center is only 5 minutes by walking. breakfast was great too. I will come back for sure!
sometimes there were no plates in the community kitchen. But the stuff provided some, after i asked them

The breakfast pancakes were nice.
They had a kitten.
I wish that I had the luxury of exaggeration in this review, but it is not possible as all bottom limits were reached and exceeded.
This is the truth.
Mold mold mold. On the walls and the floor and in the bathroom, round the sink and in the shower. In the air too, as the smell was like something had died.
There was no soap, bathmat or toilet roll meaning multiple people had used the room since anyone had actually tried to clean in there.
The light only worked after the owner tapped the electrical tape sticking out of the fitting.
Nothing was clean.
The bedding had cigarette burns and one of the pillows was only good for a draft excluder.
The shared kitchen at the back looked like it had NEVER been cleaned and flies were gathering on the surfaces the first and only time I dared look.
I am angry that anyone would charge anything for the state that it has been left in. The owners should be ashamed that they believe this is okay.
To top it all off on the second day the ceiling began to leak onto the end of the bed and there was an acute power cut that lasted for three hours.
It is a trap, a scam, a theft for any money to have been exchanged for such a disgusting experience.
Trust me, we would have left had the opportunity been available.
It is not only the worst hotel I have stayed in, it is the worst bedroom I have ever known to exist.
And before the owners think to reply, please don't bother. There are no excuses for this. You know what you are doing. It's appalling.

loved the roof top the best with the hammock- you can sit there and watch the world go by for hours

it is very close to Puerto Viejo
breakfast was good

Entire place is super cool and definitely has a 'wow' factor. Room is unique. I didn't realise it would have a double bed top bunk but we loved it. Lots of amazing places to sit and watch the ocean which you could literally throw a rock from the balcony into it. I'd stay here again
We got breakfast included but the morning we stayed, kitchen is closed all day, so no breakfast. Had a quick chat with the owner who was very chill and then we went for a free lunch the next day. So no issues from us and if anything this was actually a better result for us. Shower was dreadful though. No pressure to it at all
