The beds were clean, staff very friendly, food was excellent.
Room was dirty except for the beds they were clean and comfy, but the room really needs refurbishing.

Easy to find
Room was dirty, plaster falling off wall, shower was broken. Room had really bad smell had to sleep with windows wide open and had to buy air freshener.
2.5
it was perfectly situated for us
Mattress was very soft and the bathroom was far too cramped

Beds were so uncomfortable that my back still hurts even after 2 days.. you can feel the springs and material through those mattress

The staff are excellent.
The room is clean.
Nice bar.
Radiator not effective. WI-FI not functioning in the room. Water heater stop working at a point.

I was initially given room 8 which had broken toilet and TV on floor. To make things worse, the toilet had very black dirty water in in like it never been cleaned.
Honestly, I will not even put my enemy in that room.
Bed rubbish
Mattress had metal prings digging into me
Walls too thin
No security as anyone could walk through door
Like 12" TV.
Don't know how it still deemed fit to operate

Stayed here for a family birthday. Booked 4 rooms all ensuite. Had to move 2 members of the party to another room no ensuite due to severe mould in the room... one was asthmatic

good location near family, good selection food available in bar.
general condition of facilities in room. no heating, no spoons to make tea/coffee, had to relocate kettle to bedside table as tv shelf was not suitable place to boil kettle, on coldest night of year to date there was no additional bedding. lacking bedside light so made navigation in dark from light switch to bed interesting. general update to all facilities definitely needed.
3.5
convenient to where we were going
small room. Not great for price paid

location and staff were nice
This is possibly the worst hotel I’ve stayed in for about 10 years.
As well as a chugging radiator, the worlds flattest mattress, stained bedding and minging carpets, the bin was still full from the last guests.
There was one cup and glass between the two of us and no spoons just a used plastic fork with stains on it. I’ve never had ketchup and mayo as an option in my tea tray either.
I wrapped a towel round my pillow as I couldn’t fathom putting my face directly on theirs.
I couldn’t even have a drink of water or a cuppa tea as it came out the tap like this!
What a dump

Great customer service, great food, easy check in / check out. Look forward to staying again.
Room possibly due a little freshening up.

easy and quick to check in and nice and clean. quiet after closing time
no toiletries and would have liked option of breakfast

Location was near an event we were attending. The property was good value.
Staff did not know answers to questions about breakfast and misinformed us. They were unwelcoming and unhelpful.

Young lad that checked us in was very helpful
Everything:
Ripped wallpaper
drawers falling off furniture
Stains up the wall
Hair in a glass in the bathroom
Bed on a slant, so kept rolling off

Room was ok,bathroom a bit small in parts,no breakfast offered.
Very helpful staff, good atmosphere.

I thought I'd booked breakfast but unfortunately I hadn't so I'm sure it would have been lovely. We did enjoy an evening meal and they gave us a reduced price for the 3rd person (as we took a meal deal of 2 for £12) which was very kind. They also booked us a taxi and went out to it when it arrived early to tell them to wait.
Nothing was a problem to the fantastic staff.
There was no one around when we got up to order a breakfast there and then. This is understandable of course if there were no bookings for breakfasts.
It was altogether a good deal but there was one slight niggle and we didn't get chance to feedback in the morning to the owner I'm afraid. I'm positive this would have been rectified had we have got to report it, but the TV did not work in my Mother in Law's room. This impacted us as she had to join us for a while in our room. She also was cold at night and the quilt seem to be much thinner than ours. The chill she felt may have been through sleeping alone though I've got to say in fairness.
4.5
Very welcoming, all the staff we met were very polite and professional, nice food in the Inn good lively atmosphere. The room was bright clean and airy with en suite.
The mattress was not the most comfortable. But I must say that is the one and only negative.
4.5
The staff were welcoming and friendly. The Inn is well positioned for local amenities and close to where we needed to be. Although a little dated in places, it was spotlessly clean and we slept very well. For what we paid we were more than happy. Thank you 😊
There’s nothing we didn’t like really. It’s a bit dated in places but spotlessly clean and the room well presented. Good shower in the en suite. Toilet a little night on room but ok.
I think the only thing I’d add is that it is important to remember that it is a working pub / restaurant as well as a hotel.
It’s fairly noisy until the pub closes but it didn’t bother us as we had the tv on anyway when we got in at night. Once it was closing time the noise stopped and we slept well … and no we weren’t drunk 😂.

Clean sheets, clean towels.
Very accommodating staff.
No problem storing a lot of bicycles very securely.
Handy for the Trans Pennine trail.
Rooms are tired and in need of modernisation.
Owner knows this and has this planned into future works.

Great host and food. Rooms are a good size and clean.
2.5
Staff was lovely and helpful, poor guy had hurt his back and still took the time to look around to find us an iron. Price for room was good and cheap
Mattress was very uncomfortable. Didn’t seem to be much pressure in the shower or hot water. Shower ceiling could do with some treatment.
3.5
All we needed was a clean bed for the night with en-suit facilities.
The Ritz it wasn't but what would one expect for £50.00. It was cheap & cheerful. Maybe if I was being picky, a spot of bleach down the loo wouldn't go a miss.
There were tea & coffee making facilities, clean sheets & towels & hot water for a shower. We didn't need anything else.
We weren't looking for a 5 star holiday.
I use to run a 5 diamond guest house & I had all sorts of ideas of how I would refurbish it. However the price would definitely be more after refurbishment.
The Manager obviously knows his clientele & he told us he had only recently taken over so lets give him time.

The woman who dealt with me was very friendly. The entertainment on Saturday night was a lot better than I expected.
I would have liked a breakfast.
I went to The Toby Carvery at the top of the road.

value for money, under new ownership - Andy couldn’t make us feel more welcome and nothing was too much to ask.

I booked on the understanding that breakfast would be provided at a cost of £7 per day. I was informed on arrival that breakfast is not, in fact, an option.
Breakfast is not provided despite what it states on booking.com
Tired and outdated furniture. Mattress offered no support and was uncomfortable. Cracked sink in bathroom. Noisy corridor outside rooms. Not very clean at all and fire door constantly held open with fire extinguisher.

Staff helpful
No breakfast available. Restaurant closed at 7pm. Room not decorated for 20 years. Knackered beds. Noise from outside. Not great value compared to a travel lodge
