Notes about Location:
Although Laurelwood is convenient to both Boone and Blowing Rock, it is a true mountain cabin. State maintenance of the road ends before reaching the cabin. The last part of the drive before the cabin is maintained by the Sunset Acres neighborhood and is a gravel road that is steeper and not as smooth. AWD or 4WD is necessary in inclement weather. Being familiar with driving on mountain roads is definitely a plus!
We generally won't be on hand to welcome you to your private getaway. However, we will try to provide everything you will need to enjoy your stay.
The Neighborhood:
Located 10-15 minutes from either downtown Boone or Blowing Rock feel free to explore these towns. In winter be sure to visit Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain to enjoy the winter sports. Sugar Mountain is 25 minutes from Laurelwood. In Boone you may want to watch a game at Appalachian State. Or just take a pleasant drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway any time of year.
Although we do not allow pets at Laurelwood, we allow service animals. As such, this home is not guaranteed to be an allergy free home. Also, we do have a camera mounted on the front porch and it faces the front yard and driveway only. Video is recorded however audio is not.

House was very relaxing, even with a two month old baby. Host had changing table setup before we arrived. Would definitely book again!

My husband and I recently stayed at this adorable home while attending a wedding celebration in Blowing Rock. The home was so comfortable, and we had so much fun, that we were reluctant to leave! The house was spacious but also cozy and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty to do to keep us busy, from the hot tub and fire pit to the ping pong table and front porch swing. Never even turned on the TV! The kitchen was stocked with everything you could think of and every cooking item you could use. I will definitely put this one on our list to revisit when we can stay longer! Oh, and Diane was wonderful to work with, very responsive to every inquiry!

We loved this cabin for our anniversary getaway. It is spacious and bright inside. Kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed the covered front porch, hot tub and fire pit/outdoor seating. It is well situated to be quiet and private. Loved looking out at woods and the little pond/water feature. The host was very responsive. Easy drive to Boone and Blowing Rock. We plan to return.

We had a beautiful weekend celebrating our 28 th Anniversary. The host was beyond a super host. The cabin had everything you could possibly need. We highly recommend this cabin for your next stay, if you’re looking to stay in Boone.

The pics of this place really didn't do it justice. It was actually bigger than we expected and had a beautiful view from any room in the house. The hosts thought of everything to make it a super easy check in/check out process and to make all features of the property easily usable to make the most out of our stay. Perfect setup for a family of four. My wife, 8 year old daughter, and 5 year old niece were as comfortable as we are at home. I can't say enough about how great the upstairs loft area is for children. The panaromic views in the kitchen are so awesome and the kitchen itself and dining area so well outfitted that we only ate out twice during a seven night stay. The property itself is gorgeous and with windows almost anywhere they could put a window you can easily keep an eye on the kids playing in the yard and enjoy the view from inside. The kids' Ipads died on the way from Wilmington and they didn't ask for them again till the way home. Close proximity to more things to do and beautiful sites to see than you can fit into a week. 5 stars all around.

Everything you could ever ask for! The location is tucked up on the mountain, perfect amount of privacy, super clean and spacious. We didn’t even touch the second floor but would be perfect for a family. We enjoyed the hot tub after a long day of hiking and what is not mentioned was the sleep number bed in the master bedroom. We slept great and woke up every morning with fresh coffee stocked by the host. Centrally located to everything. The host really thought of everything to make this house perfect.

We ENJOYED the cabin immensely and the weather. We
were hoping for snow and it was GREAT ! It was COLD,
so the hot tub was our only outside venture.

This house is big enough for a whole family! It had all of the amenities to keep kids entertained as well. Otherwise it just felt very luxurious for my wife and I. We loved the hottub and endless supply of hot cocoa.

Very nice cozy cabin in a private location. Host thought of so many little details that went way above and beyond! Little goodies and treats and a hot chocolate bar with a fresh can of whip cream just for us! Heaters in the garage for the ping pong table. So many extra little touches. Close to town and not far from Beech mountain where we took the kids sledding. Highly recommend!

We only stayed 3 nights, and will definitely stay longer next time! Loved the fact it’s so close to town (shopping and restaurants) and no driving issues to the cabin!

We went to Boone for a hiking vacation and Laurelwood Cabin was a great place to rest up between outings. It is nicely outfitted and comfortable. We prepared most of our meals in the well appointed kitchen, and relaxed afterward on the porch or inside on the big leather sofa. Other than the evening choruses of spring peepers - which were fun to hear - we enjoyed the peace and quiet.

The cabin was great! But if you have someone with handicap needs this isn’t the place to stay. The showers are high and no bars to hold on too! I would t recommend for someone with elderly people! I have had a knee replacement and I didn’t like the shower had no bars to hold on too! Also the bathroom toilet has no bar to hold on to get up from the toilet and it is a low toilet. The TV remotes are a little confusing to work! We had a hard time getting them to corporate and it is a streaming set up! Hope this helps others! The location is great the kitchen is well stocked. The chairs are low in the den to get up from also.

This cabin far exceeded our expectations. It was clean, had a great layout, and many nice amenities. The front porch with swing was awesome and there was a nice fire pit and hot tub in the back. It's very close to Boone and other local trails and parks ie Moses Cone. It had everything we needed to cook and grill. Also, loved the Keurig one cup that came with a great assortment of coffees and teas. There were many nice touches that showed the owner put thought in to the guest experience. The cabin is secluded and is on a high ridge accessed by an unpaved road. The road is steep in parts but presented no problem for our Honda Pilot.

This beautiful place has everything you need. Just bring whatever you wanna cook.
Location is perfect. Short distance to lots of area destinations. Staying there alone is worth not going anywhere. Cannot wait to return.

My husband and I were on a weekend getaway with the two grandchildren, hoping to see some snow and go tubing at one of the nearby tubing places. The predicted snow storm turned into mostly ice and our tubing adventure was canceled. I can say we still had an awesome weekend! Enjoying each other, playing games that were provided in the cabin, watching movies on the big screen, puzzles, etc. We ate all of our meals in and were so thankful for a well-stocked kitchen that had everything we needed and also some things we didn’t know we needed. We enjoyed the hot tub and we did get to do some sledding down the hill after all! We made great memories that weekend and we hope to make it a yearly trip.

Last minute booking and experienced no issues. Our teenage son stayed and skied with friends at Sugar Mountain and we were close enough to drive to hang out, but enjoyed being so conveniently located to Boone and toured App State with our older daughter. The cabin was clean, beautiful, lots of windows (but curtains were surprisingly effective as light/thin as they looked blocking enough light to have a lazy, sleep-in morning) and special extras. The kitchen is well stocked with any appliance or cooking utensil you could possibly want, beautiful, fun dishes and extras like aluminum foil, zip lock baggies , snacks, Smores supplies, coffee/tea that really make the stay nicer and easier. The hot tub, fire pit, ping pong table, and HUGE TV were great entertainment along with views. Nice, local book selection to curl up with and toys for younger kids. The thermostat worked beautifully and as open as the space is, it wasn’t drafty at all. The beds were comfy. Enjoyed having shampoo, conditioner and body soap like at fancy hotels. Check in and check out we’re a breeze -love having the ease of keypad entry. Host was very responsive, excellent communicator and even had cabin ready well ahead of scheduled check on time. The only tricky part could be the road if you don’t have AWD or if there was ice/snow, I could see it being more of an issue. Overall, really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back if coming to the area again or recommend for anyone looking for a quaint mountain get away that feels like home and a retreat/escape, super convenient to Boone/App State.

What an amazing mountain getaway for our family of five. The cabin is well maintained and had everything we needed to cook a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. We loved the hot tub, fire pit, hammock, and ping pong table. It is located close to Boone and Blowing Rock. Perfect family getaway for me and my boys.

Everything was perfect! The owner helped me surprise my fiancé with a short getaway to Boone. She arranged a gift for me to have for him waiting when he walked in the door. It was perfect! Definitely a great place and owner was especially helpful in making it a memorable weekend.

This property is an excellent place to relax and enjoy a wooded, country, mountainous setting. We are bird watchers and were disappointed that we did not see or hear birds other than crows. One highlight though was the siting of a flock of wild turkeys, one deer, and several squirrels.
The cabin was very clean, comfortable, and was, surprisingly, well equipped lacking only Q-tips for those who use or need them. It was obvious that Ms. Kradel had an eye for decorum as was evidenced by the furnishings and accessories to include decorating with fall colors. This was our first visit to Laurelwood and it was a delightful experience. We plan to visit again next year.

We appreciated how well stocked it was with all the basics (quality linens and towels, pots and pans, shower toiletries, detergents, paper products) and fun details like a fully stocked coffee, tea and hot coa coa bar, and even s'mores ingredients.
