Breakfast
Is included for the first morning, and served on your cabin terrace between 9 to 10 AM. For any ther days the cost will be RD$1,000 pesos (approx. $17.00 USD) per person.
Space
A clean private cabin, to rent, set amongst the abundance of natural beauty of Jurassic Park. The bungalow comes with a fully equipped small kitchen, a queen bed, a bunk bed, a bathroom with shower, and a terrace with view of immediate garden.
Jurassic Park is a magical place situated on a small hill, in a tranquil valley, 3-5 mins outside of the main town Las Terrenas. A short stroll behind us there are two waterfalls with pools - which are extremely inviting, especially when its hot, great for cooling off and helping to make you feel at peace with the world. We have semi controlled jungle areas which we continue to improve and make part of the attraction of being here. There is very little light pollution (no upward facing lights) so you can view the night sky, from our open pool terrace, which are mostly spectacular all year round. If you are a star gazer, a writer or a poet you would feel very much at home here. We are moving towards self sufficiency and Eco tourism. We already have pure spring water and we have solar panels and soar water heaters. We will in the future add a variety of electric vehicles for guests. If you have children then this is a natural wonderland providing constant amazement. Indeed, visits from the local children, who are a breath of fresh air, will aid your children in understanding this environment. We also grow many fruits and vegetables and indeed as I write this the wife has popped out to our herb garden for some coriander. We hope to have created a much more personal and friendly feeling. We have a great track record of content, repeat visitors. It seems that a return visit is a must, once you have been bitten by the magic and unadulterated beauty of our little oasis. Also for a small additional fee we now offer breakfast (typically eggs, toast, seasonal fruits, juices, vegetable and cheese empanadas and coffee in our jungle communal area. Its a great chance to discuss your days activities and learn the best places to go. Just let us know before hand.
See you soon.
Guest access: Guests have partial access to Jurassic Park Retreat and all its amenities, firefly and star viewing areas, organic produce gardens, nature trails and running trails. Our grounds keepers are also available for advice or to take you on local excursions.

We enjoyed stepping into the jungle for a few days on our trip. The breakfast was excellent but we did not read the fine print that it is only on the first day. Dominic was kind enough to send us with some bananas on our drive.
It was really fun and still close to everything if you have a car.

The property is a work in progress and not for the faint of heart. But with a sense of adventure and the proper attitude it is well worth it. Dominic was a very responsive host and went above and beyond to ensure we were well looked after. He even took time to wait for us and point out a side trail to downtown that we would surely have missed on our own. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and breakfast was beautiful and tasty.

Despite what seemed a very promising destination according to the announcement, unfortunately the actual offer was far from what I expected! It was publicized (with a map location) as an 8-10 minute walk from the beach but the actual address turned out to be a 1h 20 minute walk to the nearest beach! Even to do groceries, it was stated that there was no need for a car but in fact, it was isolated (i.e. 15-20 minute drive out of town on country roads & no other guests present!!) and required either expensive taxis or cheaper moto-taxis, which I was told were difficult to guarantee because of unreliable drivers! My initial exchanges with one of the hosts via VRBO were excellent, and I was told breakfast was included in the accommodation price. Upon arrival, I discovered that that person was in fact living overseas and on day 3, I was told by the host on-site that breakfast was only offered for the first 2 days. After a WhatsApp exchange with the host on-site re: the misleading information about the location (it even mentioned beach access and ocean views!!) & the total lack of autonomy, he proposed 3 other breakfasts over the course of the 15-day visit as compensation. He claimed that VRBO had made the mistake and that he was not responsible for the error in location. I chose to leave and rent elsewhere - there was no offer of reimbursement.

Nice place
Nice place, nice people.

Great hosts, clean, close enough to town but with a remote jungle feel, good chow and a super value.
Rustic simple accomodations in a lush setting. Our rate included a lovely breakfast brought to our little balcony each AM as Billy the goat would occasionally pass nearby. Internet was good, so was the bed. Some neighors liked their music too loud and too late on the weekend but we always travel with earplugs so no problem. An older review mentions the condition of the road not being suitable for four-wheel drive. That makes no sense to me, yes it's a secondary road but our front wheel car had no issues with it, even when wet; must have been a city folk. If I were to change anything about the accommodations I'd add more comfortable seating and better lighting because my wife and I both enjoy reading but in the bigger picture the value received for what we paid was well worth every peso.

Mucho Gusto!

Staying at Dominic's Place
We really enjoyed our stay here. The property is beautiful and Dominic has some really exciting plans for the near future which will be great! They served us a great local breakfast and gave great advice.

It is either primitive living or glorified camping. Take your pick!
This is a lovely place for the right people, and the hosts are completely wonderful and accommodating! The best part of the trip was the company of all the animals -- dogs, baby sheep, and baby goat.
I learned the difference between traveling and vacationing. This is a traveling opportunity to live within the community and meet the local people. I'm a vacationer who prefers a condo or hotel room to this adventurous bungalow.
There are many positive qualities to this retreat if you enjoy a more primitive environment. This bungalow is private, and the staff is very polite and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure that we were as comfortable as possible. There was a chef on the premises, who made us a delightful 4 course meal. Breakfast was served promptly at 9:00, and the papaya is the best I've ever had!
My discomfort was with the insects. It started the 2nd day when I cleaned the bathroom and found a 5cm (2 inch) tarantula behind the toilet. I do not like bugs, and the ones there are very large. My husband almost stepped on an 18cm (6 inch and 1/2 inch wide) centipede in the bathroom a couple nights later. Whenever I stepped on the floor or went into the bathroom, I was very aware of looking for insects before I put down my feet.
This property was not what I wanted or expected, and that's why I did not have fun. However, for the right people, this place can be an amazing adventure!

Lots of fun!
We enjoyed our stay at Jurassic Park. Dominic was so helpful and the lovely Helena made us a delicious breakfast. The only scary part was the road leading to the bungalow- we seriously worried about damaging the rental car. Other than that, it’s an experience not to be forgotten.

Beautiful, natural, peaceful
Marcel and I spent 2 nights at Jurassic Park. We were very comfortable and happy there. Very clean. Helena and Dominic helped us connect with fantastic daily activities. They offer a delicious breakfast that was so much more than I expected. This is a place we will love to go back and stay for more days. Thank you for your hospitality!!.

Dschungel und Glühwürmchen
Our stay at Jurassic Park was quite short bit we had a really nice experience. Coming home from Las Terrenas (we have to admit it's a bit far when you don't have a car but you can always take a motoconcho!) we could always relax and chill out in the quiet environment. The pool is great and we enjoyed the Glühwürmchen at night in the jungle like garden. The breakfast was immense!!
Thank you a lot

Hidden Gem - Peaceful Oasis
Our stay at Helena and Dominic's Jurrassic park was a beautiful peaceful time. The huts are clean cozy and fun looking. The grounds are lush and well tended. The rabbits hoping around just add to the feel of Eden. The best part though was the thoughtful guidance of the hosts Helena and Dominic. They are happy enthusiastic knowledgable and helpful people who guided me through where I could go what I could do and who to get as a guide etc. One excursion I took with them made my whole trip- a hike through a farm, more like a food forest, eating and talking and learning with our wonderful guide Fausto. Frankly it was unforgettable. Playa Bonita is aptly named as well and Dominic's advice on that was spot on too. And Las Terrrenas is a bustling whirl and really fun. Jurrassic park as I have seen noted in other reviews is not for those who want the creature comforts of big screen TV s ac or a resort feel. It's getting away from all that. It also is not at all beachfront. But it's an exhilirating ride down there and frankly the beach is quite touristy and does not have the real feel of being up in the hills with the regular Dominicans. For authenticity, feeling like you get to see some real Dominican life, and cool, breezy, sunny, not at all buggy climes-(as explained to me by Dominic based on its altitude) Jurrassic park is a great bet!

Amazing
Great accommodations, great recommendations, wonderful town, friendly employees, cool travelers. Be sure to take a guided tour with Fausto, visit playa coson, and eat at Cavo del Drag. We recommend renting a moto also.

Jurassic Park. Is. Amazing!
Jurassic Park is perfect!
My boyfriend and I came to the DR for our one year anniversary and knew we wanted to stay somewhere off the beaten path that wasn't an all inclusive resort. If you want somewhere that is peaceful, tranquil, mixed with adventure and a bucket full of AWESOME, Jurassic Park couldn't meet your needs any better.
We arrived late - we flew into and rented a car in Punta Cana. Then drove the 5 and a half hour trek to Las Terrenas. Dominic and his loving (and adorable) family welcomed us right away. Of course we were hungry and Dominic made a call to a neighbor, and arranged for us and another couple to have dinner.
We walked 5 minutes down the hill to her tiny bungalow of a restaurant and she prepared us an amazing spread. Un poco de todo, a little of everything, and it was some of the best local fare we ate on the trip.
In addition to her place, there are tons like it and grocer's, fresh fruit stands, and shops downtown for anything you could want or need. Downtown is only a 5-10 minute car/quad/motorbike ride or 20 minute (beautiful mind you) walk away.
Dominic and Helena are the best at arranging excursions! A local guide (Fausto) will take you on personalized day trips and meet you at JP. We went with two other couples staying at the property on a boat trip across the bay to the Natural Park. We explored caves, ate freshly caught and prepared fish and shrimp, relaxed on the sunny beaches of the fishing village, and more! One couple even stayed behind with Fausto and slept in the larger cave!
In addition to Dominic and Helena being excellent resources for directions, ideas, and good company, there are excursion companies downtown that will take you about anywhere. Cody and I rented a quad for a day and hired a guide that took us and another family vacationing around the "coffee route" to explore the coffee plantation, cigar factory, waterfalls by horseback, and more local eats. If you can find a guide that will take you around as a small group it is well worth it!
At night, there are clubs and bars to go to. Cody and I stayed in most nights to enjoy the peace and tranquility Jurassic Park also offers. We would relax by candlelight on our front porch.
As far as safety is concerned - I NEVER felt unsafe and frankly Cody and I never locked our bungalow.
Dominic and Helena - Thank you again for sharing your perfect slice of jungle heaven. We can't wait to see you again!

An incredible experience
It is a unique experience to stay at Jurassic Park, far from the mainstream tourists and hotels, but still just some minutes (by car) to the beach. You feel as one with the nature when you are there, and since it is a very quiet area you have the full impact of the sounds of the night with grasshoppers and fireflies around you. It is so relaxing to wake up in the morning and go out to the terrace and lie in the the hammock and watch the wilderness around you, and it's easy to forget about time and just live in the moment instead. The local people are very nice and helpful, and just around the corner you can get good local food. We were only there for a weekend, but we are sure to come back for a longer stay the next time! Thank you Dominic and Helena for living out your dreams and inspiring the rest of us :)

Simple, basic, enjoyment close to nature!
As usual it is always a rewarding experience... e.g. as was arriving late; lights were on and a welcome bag of ice in separate cooler next to fridge +++ the little things we invariably forget: sugar, coffee, salt, mosquito repellant, matches.. (all basics and totally essential...specially if you forget to purchase; like I did!!!) And this time more plusses for the list: enlarged verandah, hot water; and the electrics have gone solar (Well done Dominic!) The pool has been made child friendly and Dominic has recycled some local scooter tires into very confortable deck chairs!! Jurassic is 5 minutes in the hills above Noisy and bustling Las Terrenas... so very quiet and relaxing. We did the must walks: a visit to the tallest tree in DR ( a ceiba, but locally known as the "avatar" tree) awalk up to the the river to the local natural water fall... that serves Dominic well ... as this is his source of water!!! Beaches around us galore... Coson, Playa Bonita, Estillero... endless!!!
The accommodation is simple and basic; but has all the essentials for a very confortable stay. For all those who enjoy nature and the best simple things in life...Jurassic is perfect!!!

Fantastic
We recently spent 8 glorious nights at The Jurassic Park, we've been in Las Terrenas many times and this has to be the best place to stay for the money. The jurassic atmosphere with small secret paths, waterfalls and natural pools is fantastic, the owners amazing, the view out of this world and the room excellent. I could go on and on about how great The Jurassic park is but instead I'll just say - do yourself a favour and stay here, you won't regret it! We are already planning our next visit.

Jurassic park
What is so wonderful about this place is that it is totally secluded and a bit like being in another time. Although just minutes from the beach, it is really in the jungle, so you get the best of both worlds. The pool is now operational and has a view to die for.
But the really best thing about this place is the proprietors themselves. Dominic and Helena are just the sweetest, nicest people you could possibly find. Originally from England, they speak Spanish fluently and are more than helpful. They will do everything in their power to make sure you are comfortable and know your way around town, etc.
This is truly a gem in the jungle and affordable as well....

Outside the cookie cutter
My WARNING right off. If you can't live without air conditioning then this is not the place for you. It never got too hot while I was there, and there was usually a cool breeze. If that wasn't enough there was always the swimming pool.
Everything else was absolutely perfect. The location was set nicely in the mountains and close enough to the beach that you could walk to it if you wanted to (not a quick walk though). The bungalows were set apart in two sets of three which made for the perfect amount of privacy without feeling alienated. The rooms were clean and neat.
This place had the comfort and ease of country living with relatively easy access to social settings and commodities. The ability to enjoy a simple lifestyle or experience take-it-easy luxury really set this place apart form other excellent options.
But it was the owners who truly made this place superb. Dom and Helena not only gave brilliant advice on what to do and how to do it, but they created a friendly and home like environment right on the premises with real personality and character. They assisted me with everything from having my laundry cleaned to finding the best horseback guide to the best salsa dancing and nightlife.
This place was awesome and I hope to find more places like it along my future travels!

Great Weekend Getaway
I was browsing homeaway and I came across Jurassic Park. I was both intrigued and impressed. I immediately I told my friends about it and right then and there we decided to go away for the weekend. Friday afternoon five friends and I set out for the beautiful Las Terrenas. We did not know what to expect, but we were ready for a change!
Jurassic Park is absolutely beautiful! the view is amazing! Everything is green and lush! You can also see the water since we are so far up! It was stunning! My friends and I were eager to explore and our hosts/property owners (because we are friends...they do not look at us like tourists/customers) were friendly and eager to help us in any way possible! I have to mention the the youngest members of Dominic and Helena's family were too cute and they helped to make our stay even more memorable!
Anyway, Dominic and Helena gave us a quick tour and then filled us in on the excursions they offered as well as the best local beaches. They told us to come to the main house if we needed anything and they did their absolute best to make us feel welcome and at home. What wonderful people!
The next day my friends and I ventured to playa Bonita and after a fun filled day, we were warmly greeted by Helena. She was eager to hear about our day. One thing that I really loved about Helena and Dominic was how friendly they were and how much they genuinely wanted to get to know us. Helena then invited us out for a night of dancing. We were excited and although we had a little trouble finding motoconchos (that is the main source of transportation in Las Terranas! Don't be scared! It was fun!), we made it! Let me add that Helena is an amazing salsa dancer!
The following day, a friend and I went on a nearby excursion with Dominic. We connected with nature and gained a deeper appreciation for life! It was amazing! I don't even have the words to explain it, but take advantage of your time and opportunities with Dominic!! We did things that we never thought we would do and we have no regrets!
Overall, we will cherish this weekend for a lifetime, and we will be sure to remain in contact with our new friends! Jurassic Park is a MUST GO place in the DR!!
