The location was very conveniently to many stores and restaurants. The view was marvelous. The breakfast had a wide variety of items, we recommend asking the staff to cook fresh fried eggs instead of the ones at the breakfast buffet. The hotel restaurant's picanha was very delicious.
The bed was not comfortable at all. We woke up with a back ache each morning. This seems to be standard for hotels in Ouro Preto though.
6.0
Pratos típicos do restaurante Oscar.

A localização fica próxima à praça Tiradentes.

The location was perfect and the facility was beautiful. The staff has been very helpful and professional.
The fridge in the room made a lot of noise. The breakfast wasn't amazing.

We decided to stay in the Grande Hotel de Ouro Preto because it was one of Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer's first projects. We enjoyed our stay very much, though it was like going back to the 1940's when it was built, even though it had been renovated in 1993.
The location of the hotel was excellent for exploring Ouro Preto and there were quite a few restaurants nearby.
Our room was on 2 levels. The entry level had a living area and a large balcony with a beautiful view of the town. From the lower level, a curved wooden staircase went to the second floor where the bedroom and bathroom were. The bedroom has a beautiful view of the gardens and hillside behind the hotel. We definitely recommend getting a room like this, rather than the smaller rooms which only face the back of the hotel. The furnishings are by no means luxurious or fancy, but are basic and comfortable.
The public area is quite barren, though it does have several interesting old pieces of furniture which fit in well with the 1940's ambiance.
We liked the included breakfast very much. Some other reviewers had criticized the breakfast, but we found that there was enough variety to keep us happy for the three days we were there.
All the room entrances are one level up from the reception area and there is no elevator. However, nowhere in Ouro Preto is suitable for people with mobility issues. So if someone can't manage going up one floor without an elevator, they wouldn't be able to manage Ouro Preto.
We liked Ouro Preto very much and if we ever return, we would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Location near central square, restaurants, and sights. The included breakfast was good with variety of breads, cakes, juices, fruits, meats, and cheeses. The room has space and balcony with great view.
It’s a simple place. Not too fancy. The halls are long, lots of stairs and ramps to climb and no elevators. Definitely not designed for handicap access.

I love the pool (although it isn’t warm, it is clean and big), breakfast was delicious, the staff is very friendly and the location is perfect. We love the view from the restaurant. The hotel is cozy and clean.
The bathroom door wouldn’t close, it just needs to be fixed. The walls are thin so we can hear a lot more than we would like.

The hotel is nice, we were able to experience the stay at a Niemeyer hotel, the architecture is a bit cold but it was ok. The breakfast had a big variety of items but some of them were not so good. The room had a nice view and the location was fantastic.
One day we had lunch at the hotel. The service was very slow and the feijão tropeiro was not good, although the steak with jabuticaba sauce was delicious.

problems with the reservation, made me lost some hours until the staff solved it. And once I believed it was solved the staff looked for me and told me it was not and i would probably need to change hotels. Even being travel with a foreign couple, us and them carrying two children.
