I thought the room was lovely! Cute, clean, and with a nice view of the mountains. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The showers were nice and there were bikes you could reserve.
It was a little far away from Matsumoto Castle but still very nice and comfortable.
3.9
It is a clean and practical ryokan with an authentic Japanese feel to it!
The onsen is great to use because you may reserve it as a private onsen. Great for families like us.
The owner doesn’t speak English too well but is super nice and as always you will get around with hands and feet.
There aren’t food options offered but that is more than ok.

The facility has an annex with a bathing facility, which can be awesome to relax in after a long day. The rooms are clean and have a traditional look with comfy futons. The shared showers had a lot of space and giving a sense of privacy.
There was some unknown substance in the water of the bathing facility.

The view was nice and the futon was comfortable. They provided bicycles.
The pillows are too hard. They need to supply soft ones, too.

The stuff was very nice and helpful
It was very hot and one Aircon didn't work. There was not enough toilet rooms.

so hospitable
immaculately clean
lovely room
fresh sheets and towels every day!
great cooking facilities
bikes keeps in very good condition
only thing I would say is that it’s a bit annoying sharing the shower block with everyone as you don’t know when it’s free

Helpful staff. Brought my family of 4 to train station, free of charge.
If one does not leave the room before 10AM, it doesn't get cleaned.
3.9
Staff was very supportive and willing to help
Shower room with hair dryer inside. It takes more time for 1 person to finish

We met a local guy, Taku, he helped us understand the place and translated our queries to the owner. Very friendly people. The place also had a private Onsen for the family. This was my first Onsen experience and it was extremely joyful. I would suggest everyone going here to try the private Onsen atleast once. It's clean, it's private and it's a unique experience.
3.9
Good location, big rooms and they have bikes you can ride for free.
The onsen is great and you can fully reserve it
Communication is difficult because they only speak Japanese.

Family-run accomodation with traditional rooms and hot bath. All necessary facilities and basic hygiene products available. Good deal for the offered price, also local travellers and workers were staying in this place.

Nice spot, all clean and super friendly host!
Isolation is not great, but that comes with the charm of the place :)

All facilities in the room are so comfortable
Need to walk to annex to take shower
It's a bit cold

The whole stay was fantastic. The rooms were tidy and had a really traditional atmosphere. We stayed in low season, so we had almost everything for us. The building is old, but everything worked fine and gave us a "from another age" vibe. The staff was friendly and helpful with everything.
The only weird thing was the bath in the annex. Having to cross the street into another building that was unoccupied was really strange.

Free bikes to use to travel the city which www a big help! the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Communal living with the light of the shared bathroom shun into our room which made it difficult to sleep

It's a quirky Ryokan that's a warren of rooms and staircases. The room is large and cosy, and you are provided with free green tea, which is a nice touch. The bed is comfortable and warm, and there's a sento, as others have mentioned. However it isn't gender segregated but it is private, but it is a case of getting in there when you can, as there is no booking system. It's a 10 minute walk from the station if you exit from the back. Think it might be slightly longer if you exit from the front.
It is about a half an hour walk from the castle. There was no hot water in the main building on the morning I was there so I nipped across to the annexe and used the shower in the public bath, where there was hot water. The Ryokan has seen better days, but it is fairly reasonably priced.

Helpful staff, comfy futon
No dryer, thin walls

Very comfortable beds and good family bath.
Can be loud at night with other guests walking past the room

Location, room was very cleaned and beds were comfortable and traditional green tea & small hotsprings shower room

It wasn’t very clean. The air conditioning panel said the filter needed cleaning. This aggravated my allergies. There was also greening around the tiles in the bath area as well as general grime.
There was also only one small bath for the entire facility so it was difficult to use when the ryokan was full.
3.9
Room is nice, the bed is very comfortable
3.9
Reasonable and close to station

This is a very nice place to stay - The rooms are large, clean and well equipped. The bath (o-furo) is large. The guy who runs the place was very friendly. I enjoyed walking around the corridors - it was like a museum :-) I would definitely stay here again.
All good
