Excellent spa-room/thermal bath (private and needs to be booked on a schedule). The staff were kind and the room was nice too.
A little far from train station and city center in my opinion, not many food options or stores open late nearby.

I loved everything about it. It was peaceful, traditional and cosy. The staff were hospitable and always helpful.
Breakfast and dinner was exceptional. I had no problems with it.
Our room had a private bath and having a soak at the end of the day was always a plus.
I didn't realise the city tax was cash only. Make sure you have enough yen on you to cover the city tax upon checkout.
One of the rooms (the room that has a basin to wash your hands/brush teeth) appeared to have mould on the ceiling. Not sure if it's intentional, I suspect it is not.

The staff was pleasant and helpful. There was a small onsen (bath) available for private reservation and also with public hours. They provided robes for the adults, but not the kids. So my kids wore the "jackets" and just held them shut to go to the onsen (no extra sash provided). Our room was a good size and had a sofa. Bottled water (daily) and special little candies (hand painted?, not that tasty) and tea were provided upon arrival.
We paid for a breakfast in their dining room. It looks out on a lovely garden (though I sat with my back to it so my view was a wall). The breakfast was nice, but not the reason to eat there. It's more for the experience and convenience.
My kids enjoyed the soft serve machine available at all hours.
The building was old, carpet stained, and generally felt like it needed to be updated considering the very high cost. The photos on the listing are very well taken. Accurate, but give a different feel than what you will find when you are there in person. After much scrolling we found our room, with an artful shot that didn't include the metal windows. Our relatives had a nicer room, but couldn't get hot water in their (very nice wooden) private tub. Too bad since she didn't go to the public onsen. The public onsen was a simple bath in a room with no view. It had all the parts, but not the luxury one might expect, again, for the price. The futon mats were uncomfortable - not enough padding for me, and I slept on 2 others during our trip to Japan that were more comfortable (though to be fair, I don't love sleeping on futons).

Got a private bath and garden view. Gorgeous room, Big bath, amazing garden view.
Some places were quite worn out but such things are to be expected of an old beautiful building.

This is a bit more of a traditional japanese style inn, which has futon beds rather than bed matresses, but was overall comfortable even when it was my first time sleeping in one of these. I would say for comfort wise, some may prefer more modern hotels, but the rooms were quite spacious and it also included one private session at the onsen that they have.
Personally, the value is not as good for the price, but I do have to say that the staff was exceptionally polite and good.
I do see myself coming here again.

Dinner one night; breakfast two mornings, all delicious.
Staff was very, very warm and accommodating.
Ryokan was very clean.
Location is in a calm neighborhood and very close to Nanzenji temple and Path of Philosopher.
The rooms were not 100% clear when booking- western beds are shown for the family annex and there were photos of a table setting and a bedroom- which appeared to be a suite; however, it was actually one room and the staff moved the table and laid out futons every night. I wish that had been clearer in the room descriptions because that is a tight squeeze for a family of four adults to share for 6 nights.

The staff is excellent. The suite with private semi-open air bath was exactly what we needed for a relaxing stay.

The location and facilities were good. There were bicycles for us to use and the complimentary snack was delicious. My son enjoyed the free flow ice cream.
It was a little pricey

Hotel was in a convenient location.
The hotel felt a little run down and overpriced for the value. The futons on the floor were quite uncomfortable and the rooms pictured on Booking.com did not reflect reality.

The restaurant and meals are exceptional, providing a traditional dining experience in a beautiful setting. The food was exquisite and I would highly recommend trying their breakfast and sukiyaki dinner.
The baths were also excellent with good reservation system.
Rooms were more than adequate and comfortable. The private shower was appreciated and the amenities were thoughtful.
Staff were delightful and so nice. It was a wonderful experience to stay here in Kyōto.
Nothing.

good to experience a Riokan stay, nice room size and great onsen. nice restaurant
I felt that was easy to get lost, was hard to find my room sometimes but no big deal

Private bath
Room was extremaly cold, I ordered a western style bed but had a futton (we are over 65!) so very difficult to sleep. And very loud…

amazing if you want to try a traditional Ryokan with an amazing traditional breakfast.

Extremely helpful staff, lovely atmosphere, authentic cooking, found accomodations for the vegetarian in our group.
All very subjective things - we wanted to experience a traditional ryokan + food + futon etc and there were simply some parts of that experience that did not fit us personally (discomfort sleeping on the floor etc). We are still happy we experienced them and feel everyone at the ryokan did their absolute best to make sure we had a good time.

soft serve machine!
onset style bath

Staff was very friendly, and made us feel very welcomed.
Price is a bit too steep for a property that was frazzling at the edges. Aircon was also blowing out dust particles that made us a bit uncomfortable.

The food was amazing and I'm really glad we opted in for the traditional Japanese breakfast each morning we were there. Also, the private booking times for the onsen were great!
