This cottage was delightful. Close to downtown and easy to reach the beach without driving. Plenty of room for all of us. Well stocked w/kitchen items as well.

Perfect place to stay in St Joseph

My husband and I stayed here with my 3 young adult children and their significant others (ages 22-28). Chris and Dave's home worked great for our group. Two couples stayed upstairs, my single son downstairs, and we had the master bedroom. Everyone enjoyed playing games at the huge dining room table (plus the younger ones played games upstairs some nights). The parking worked great with the two spots off the alley and one on the street (we called the number to let them know we'd have a car on the street). It was super convenient to be able to walk downtown, over to the bluff, even down to Silver Beach Pizza. Our family made some lovely memories and we hope to be back!

This is our second time to stay at this property, and we absolutely love the location. Being able to walk down to the beach, to Silver Beach Pizza, to the shops and Kilwin's, and then being able to walk back "home" for a break whenever we need it is wonderful. My 3 kids also enjoy being able to have their own space and not have to share a bedroom. Chris is very easy to work with and quick to respond to questions. We will be back!

This property is our annual choice to stay in St Joseph Michigan. The location is within walking distance to downtown, beach and much more. We have used the cottage for over 10 summers

Had a great time with family. Everyone had their own space. Great having 2 bathrooms. Location great for walking to town and the beach. Air conditioner kept up even on the really hot days. Needs a new couch but overall lovely.

We had a great time in St. Joe! The house is in a fantastic location, so close to everything. David was very helpful when we had an issue with one of the TVs. He came over right away to address it and made sure we were satisfied.

Cute little home in a safe, lovely, historic area. Just a short walk away from beautiful downtown St Joe and Silver Beach. So enjoyed walking on the bluff with my family. The owners responded very quickly to any inquiries and were very kind, helpful, and generous. Highly recommend this family friendly home. 😊

Stayed here on our first visit to St. Joseph for a summer family vacation. House is very well equipped and was very clean. Very close to town for restaurants, library, walking, etc. Beach is a bit far because of the railroad in-between town and the beach and a high hill, but parking at the beach is very easy and inexpensive. This is NOT a 3-bathroom house, nor is it a 2-bath plus outdoor shower as there is no outdoor shower. But the 2 full baths indoors are very clean and updated. Note that there is virtually no outdoor space except the front porch and the parking area for the 2 cars - plus the small pad where the bbq grill is. We should have been more careful about selecting someplace with a little bit of yard for the kids. Otherwise, a very comfortable place to stay!

Love staying here for the past 6-7 summers - very convenient and family friendly. Grandkids love riding their scooters to town, game nights at 'home' and great restaurants. Beaches are the best! Hosts are wonderful! Have regular updates in accommodations - may need new mattresses in small downstairs bedroom soon, but overall rest are great! Thank you Dave and Chris!! Feels like home to us!!

We have stayed at this property annually well over 10 years. Great location, easy walking to activities. We plan to return the summer of 2022.

Our stay at your Vrbo was fantastic! It would have been helpful to have more pictures of the inside of the home and the outside yard to give us a better idea of what to plan for. No complaints about the property itself. The place was clean and everything worked well.. and the kitchen was well stocked!! Thanks for a great stay!

With five family members ranging from 81 to 22 the location was super. We were a couple blocks from the Bluff and just a few blocks from the beach and the downtown shops. The house was very well furnished and stocked.

Beautiful quaint home, walking distance to everything. Thank you to our host. House fully equipped with everything and then some. Beach, splash pad, restaurants, ice cream and Carousel kept us busy all week. Gorgeous weather, had a fabulous week. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

The property is close to all shops and the beach. The kitchen has everything you would need to cook and everything was very clean. Check in and out is very easy and the owner answers quickly and is a great host St. Joe had extremely hot and humid weather during our stay and I was greatful that the ac worked great The house is a nice home-away from home Hoping to stay in the future.

The location of this home is absolutely perfect. Hardly any traffic the week we stayed. The stroll to downtown was lovely. We really enjoyed all the old homes in this historic neighborhood. The neighbors we encountered were nothing but nice as well. Everything is well detailed upon check-in. The house is dated but we loved it’s old charm and wouldn’t expect less from the area. It’s well stocked with just about anything you would need or want. We brought a lot of our own items but it was good to know for the future that the house had laundry, kitchen, and bathroom needs there which is above and beyond. It has an awesome DVD collection both upstairs and down , a smart tv, and a sweet collection of children’s books in one of the bedrooms. The front porch has two chairs and just enough space to hang out on and enjoy coffee in the morning. The mattress comfort was lacking and the upstairs was always a bit warmer than desired but really the stay was perfect so obviously that didn’t bother anyone too much. That’s more of an observation not a complaint. Communication with the owners was spot on,from looking into the property, during, and after our stay they responded to us quickly and are super sweet to talk to. We will 100% stay at this lovey Cottage by the sea again, as long as they would have us.

We're a family of six and the little cottage is perfect for us. Plenty of space for our 3 teenagers upstairs and the adults and youngest downstairs. This is our 4th stay at the little cottage and it feels like home. It has everything we could need for our stay. We love the location within an easy walk to downtown for coffee and shopping and an easy walk to Silver Beach and Lion Park beach. Chris and Dave and wonderful hosts. Perfect place for our family vacation...we loved our stay at the cottage! All the amenities we needed were included, the house had everything and we could walk everywhere. Chris and Dave were so kind, attentive and truly the best hosts. The perfect house to stay at St. Joe’s - we can’t wait to go back!

The showers were hardly functional, with the heads clogged with inline debris and very low water pressure. Lack of counters in baths made it very difficult for the gals. Kitchen also marginally furnished. Upstairs rooms okay for kids, but not for adults.Without the location, home would be tough to rent at current rate.

We've been renting this house for 3 years now, and we're already signed up for next summer. Overall, this is a nice house with plenty of space, in good shape, and has a great location adjacent to downtown (only a 5 minute walk to the beach). It is a reasonable price for the area as well. The owners are very pleasant, organized and prompt in communications. The house is always clean and in good shape when we arrive. We look forward to our time in St. Joseph each year.

We loved our stay at your home. The home was clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We were in St. Joseph with my daughter and her family. We stayed downstairs and they used the upstairs. My daughter said it was like having their own apartment. We walked everywhere and the kids loved it! A very nice week!

My family stayed at the Little Cottage by the Sea in early June 2015. We enjoyed the small town feel and proximity to the beach and downtown. Chris was responsive when booking the house, I asked a few questions about the layout of the home because we had small children traveling with us. Chris did explain that the upstairs bedrooms didn’t have doors except for at the top of the stairs. Noise between floors would not be an issue. She did fail to explain the stairs are very steep and not recommended for elderly or young children. I didn’t ask but there was no description about the yard. Unfortunately there is no yard so that is something to consider. We are giving the home a low review for a couple of reasons. The first is the beds are very uncomfortable and the home could have been cleaner (the kitchen ceiling was covered in dust). The second was the first floor had very limited cable channels (including cartoons and ESPN). We did mention this in passing with the owners, just so they were aware if they were paying for additional channels. The third there were several issues with plumbing in the home. The owner came promptly to try and fix the drain but then had to call a plumber. The plumber didn’t show up until after the agreed upon time. We had small children sleeping and the plumber said the machines he uses are loud (we were never informed they would use load machines to fix the issues) so we had to turn him away. The plumber returned later the next day, which meant we had dishes piled up. On the last day of our stay the faucet in the kitchen broke and water was spraying everywhere. It was a hassle to get packed up in a timely manner. We weren’t able to unload the dishwasher before we left, the cleaning lady told us it was no problem she would unload it. Well, the owners took $50 from our deposit to pay for the additional cost of unloading the dishwasher. Wow, they hired an expensive housekeeper! I emailed the owner, Chris, about the $50 charge. In the end she agreed to send an additional $25 back to me but also wrote a nasty note asking that we don’t return to her home. I guess fixing an old houses plumbing issues is too much to ask a landlord. We have rented from many other homeowners for vacations before and have never had an issue with any until now. I caution the next renters.

We stayed here with two of my bridesmaids and their families over our wedding weekend. We loved every minute! The location is excellent, parking convenient, and the house itself is spacious and clean. The sheets and towels are nice, and the kitchen is well stocked. The owners are also easy to work with and very responsive and professional. We really enjoyed it here and highly recommend!
