It’s location, the activity centre with pool, soft play and kids play room!
The room wasn’t overly clean and very small. The staff in the Italian restaurant need a refresher on customer service - other than the Italian waiter he was pleasant and was clearly trying his best!
3.5
Sauna and steam room was good. Italian was decent host was nice.
Not having a smart tv in the room and buffet breakfast was average, meat wasn’t fresh most of the food wasn’t fresh.
3.0
Nice location
I booked a double bed but was given two single join together as there was a gap in between which made it really uncomfortable.
There was the last fried egg at breakfast as I was approaching then they changed it to scrambled egg!
4.5
Hotel was lovely, and staff very helpful. I initially went to the wrong hotel, (there are 3 on the same site), and the receptionist helpfully directed me to the correct one.
Breakfast was buffet style, food was great.
Restaurant in hotel did pizzas, they were really good.
Breakfast was in a separate building. Not a huge issue but was a slight inconvenience.

Lovely location.
Many facilities were not open when we arrived. We were told this was because it was Sunday and the owner does not want facilities open on this day. Not a good impression for customers arriving or for foreign visitors to an iconic area of Scotland.
We had 2 soft drinks in the only bar area which was open. £9.60 for a diet cola and a fantastic orange is very overpriced.

Breakfast was excellent as Was the room which exceeded our expectations. The bed was quite luxurious and extremely comfortable. We slept very well.
Food in Aspects tended to be over-cooked and salty. Dining on the first night, I chose haddock and my wife chose hake. My haddock arrived looking burnt/overcooked and was quite dry. My wife's hake was very salty and we were both mildly disappointed in this. On the second night I chose ribeye steak and was not disappointed but my wife's chicken was dry and overcooked. We decided to eat elsewhere after that.
I took the opportunity to swim in the pool and was there at 08.00 each day as the facility opened. I was informed on the first day that From 08.00 to 09.00 there would be "lane swimming only." I turned up on the second day at 08.00 and proceeded to the pool which was lined off. I began swimming and after about four lengths I was instructed peremptorily to vacate the lane. It appeared that some children were about to play on inflatables and that this had been booked. I feel that the pool could be managed better in that if that particular portion of the pool was booked I could have been redirected sooner. As it was, the rhythm of my swim was disrupted and left a sour taste.

The room was lovely as usual and location excellent.
Because the hotel was understaffed, we couldn't get checked in until after 5pm as the room wasn't ready.
1.0
Room okay, but see below. Food good at 'adjacent' MacDonald Highland Aspect Restaurant. But not much else.
Reception unhelpful. Room not ready on arrival c. 3.30 pm. My wife is disabled, and her needs weren't considered. We had to go away from the hotel and return later, since no tea, coffee etc. facilities available until after 5 pm. Officially it was 4 pm check-in, but they had been advised in advance, but paid no attention. They took our bags to the room c. 4.30 pm but we could not get access until 5.15 pm. Dysfunctional – receptionist told us they couldn’t trace the room-cleaning supervisor, so room not inspected. Duty manager then told us it was confusion of information.
Only Italian cuisine available at hotel situ for dinner. Alternative menu was 200 yards away and my wife was unable to walk that distance on the day. We tried to book a 6.30 dinner only to be told it was fully booked at that time – we’d have to wait 1-2 hours. When I insisted, they managed to fit us in, but when we attended the Italian restaurant, it was less than half empty and for the hour after 6.30 pm!. Despite booking / paying for dinner, bed and breakfast we then found out that we were only allowed £25 for dinner. When we went to the restaurant, items on the menu were expensive and we ended up paying around an extra £80.00 (unbudgeted) for both nights. Indeed steaks at the ‘adjacent Highlands’ hotel started at £32! That is a con and probably a breach of contract. They make profit on the room then make more profit on the highly priced enforced menu. Plus, you don’t get offered a refund if you don’t take dinner, opting to dine elsewhere. Italian food wasn't great. So never again for the Aviemore Macdonald Morlich! Disabled access at the MacDonald Highlands was also poor. We had just spent 4 nights at an excellent hotel in Pitclochry (The Green Park -- also 4 star), where we were well looked after, with excellent food, service and surroundings. So this was also a massive comedown for the trip.

location and swimming poor were perfect.
drinks from the bar there an absolute disgrace! almost 8 pounds for a pint of lager is robbery! over 5 pounds for a bottle of sparkling water!
3.5
lovely room with very comfortable big bed. great location
the pool / spa is more like a local leisure centre. not relaxing in the slightest and was full of kids. jacuzzi didn’t work. Majority of restaurants were closed.
5.0
clean and very comfortable, first impression of quality throughout with very pleasant greeting on arrival.
didn’t stay long enough to find any faults if any?
4.0
The hotel and room were nice and served my daughter and I perfectly. Hotel staff were on a whole very nice and friendly. The leisure staff on reception were excellent.
The food at the Italian was tasteless and the breakfast in the morning had very little for vegetarians on the hot counter plus you had to get there early if you wanted any muffins etc which we never managed to get any of. Drinks were extortionate,

Good location, pool and soft play were good as was the play park although it was full of sheep poo
lacked customer service, very regimented
3.5
Really good pool and soft play were fab! Our room was ok it was dated looked like they have started doing up rooms and not finished, so I think we just got put in an old room. But it was nice and clean and had everything we needed.
Rooms were dated and not representative of the photos in the booking.com advert.

great central position, good sized room, excellent breakfast
no bath towels - had to ask 3 times and then my husband had to go with staff member to get them at 6:30pm. we had restaurant reservation at 7 which we were late for. no bottled water either. coffee ring on the side of the bath.

Limited choice in Giovanni's restaurant (no fish).

it was central to Aviemore
We turned up for check in at 3pm. We were then told our room wasn’t ready and hadn’t been checked off bed head house keeper. Was left waiting 1 hour and 40 mins before pleading to just let us in as we had reservations elsewhere for food.
We weren’t the only ones and seemed like a lot of chaos.
