Casa das Taipas is a 2-bedroom house in the heart of Vila Franca, right in front of the sea with an outsanding view to the Atlantlic Ocean and Ilhéu, a volcanic islet known among the villagers as the Princess Ring.
Hi! We are Vitória and Hermínio, a happily married couple from the Azores. We live in Vila Franca do Campo for more than 30 years and we think this is the perfect town in the island to spend some relaxing holidays.

This property is stunning! Very clean with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Well stocked kitchen, beautiful view and roof terrace. Herminio is very easy to contact and very helpful if there are queries. The air conditioning was most welcome in August. I would stay here again if I were to visit Vila Franca do Campo again in the future.

Place is wonderful and very clean. Views from the living room and upstairs porch are amazing. I miss the ocean already. Excellent location for hiking all over the island then return and enjoy the view and the sound of the ocean.

The apartment was clean and comfortable, and the views are stunning. The large glass doors open easily from the 2nd-floor living room/kitchen so you can hear the waves as you eat breakfast. The outdoor patio on the third floor also has a great view (though in early March the weather was a little chilly for us to use it.) Indoors on the third floor, there is also a small writing desk with a nice view. The kitchen was well-stocked with equipment and dishes. Bring your own shampoo. Communication was quick and easy. We had a lovely stay and I highly recommend.

Everything was just right. The apartment was clean and very well furnished. Our host was very nice and helpful. The communication was exemplary. The highlight of the apartment is certainly the roof terrace with barbecue and the unobstructed view of the sea, which can also be enjoyed from the living room. The apartment is strategically located in the middle of the south coast. All important destinations can be reached quickly. Absolute recommendation we would love to come back.

We had a great week here. The apartment was everything we could have wanted. Good location, very clean. We loved being right by the ocean. It was walking distance to restaurants, shopping, etc. Hermínio was an excellent host. It was wonderful!

Apart from parking not always ideal as no parking directly by house everything was excellent. The property had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Hermione was always available when needed. The property was just as the pictures showed. The village and it's amenities are all within easy walking distance including the harbour area for sea trips and eating out. The second floor with its Juliet balcony and double opening doors and the rooftop terrace overlooking the sea made it perfect when relaxing .

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt in dem Ferienhaus sehr genossen. Von alle Zimmern hat man einen Blick aus Meer. Fußläufig können einige gute Restaurants erreicht werden. Brötchen holen im Supermarkt zu Fuß war auch kein Problem. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet und wir freuten uns über die Nespresso Kaffeemaschine. Auch bei schlechtem Wetter ist die Unterkunft zu empfehlen, weil man vom Wohnbereich wunderbar den Blick aufs Meer genießen kann. Auf der schönen Terrasse im obersten Stock hätte ich mir einen Liegestuhl gewünscht. Sofadecke und Sofakissen wären ebenfalls nett gewesen. Aber das ist jammern auf hohen Niveau. Schade, dass die Schlafzimmer direkt an der Straße liegen. So kann man nicht mit gekippten Fenster schlafen und das Meeresrauschen hören. Heizung und Klimaanlage ist vorhanden. Nur die Lüftung km Fensterfreien Badezimmer könnte besser sein. Mit einem Mietwagen kann man von hier wunderbar die Insel erkunden und das Auto direkt vor der Unterkunft auf der Straße parken.

My wife and I loved this property. The view is outstanding and it is close to both groceries and restaurants. Very good central location to all the great highlights on São Miguel. Furnas, Sete Cidades, Nordeste,…. All within an easy drive. Herminio was a great host. Always available and quick to respond. Only thing I would improve is to remind travelers to bring their own soaps and shampoo, as well as any spices, sugar, etc you might need. Coffee was available but that was it.

Sehr schönes Ferienhaus, genial gelegen.Super Ausblick und kurze Wege zu sehr guten Restaurants. Von Vila Franco kann man alle Sehenswürdigkeiten auf der Insel mit dem Mietwagen schnell erreichen. Das Haus selber ist komfortabel eingerichtet, mit sehr guten Betten. Alle 4 Tage würde das Haus gereinigt.

The sites, the sounds, the location

Our time in Vila Franca at Taipas House was wonderful. The perfect location gave us beauty right out our window and convenient walking access to the center of the town. The house was thoughtfully equipped with all we would ever need. Each evening after dining at one of the nearby restaurants we returned to the third floor open deck to hear the waves and view the light of the setting sun reflected off the Vila Franca Islet. Thank you Herminio for your part in making our stay in the Azores such a beautiful experience.

Wir haben die cleane Ausstattung, den phantastischen Meerblick vom Wohn/Esszimmer und der windgeschützten Terrasse täglich und auch bei Regen überaus genossen. Das Haus wurde alle vier Tage sauberst gereinigt und Bettwäsche sowie Handtücher gewechselt. Der sehr freundliche Vermieter Hermino war hat gerne Tipps zu guten Gaststätten gegeben und war sehr hilfsbereit. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Intifada Herminio

Wonderful modern apartment in great location

We stayed here for a week in early March and were very pleased with this apartment. The location was perfect for several reasons: the lovely ocean view from the patio on the top floor, easy walking distance to several local restaurants and a wonderful bakery, and also because this is a good central and quiet location from which to explore in all directions of the island without suffering through the hubbub of a large town like Ponta Delgada. The apartment had all the mod cons, including kitchen equipment although we only cooked one dinner in. The wifi was fast, the hot water plentiful, on-street parking was available, and Herminio was always available if we had questions. The beds were quite comfortable although the bottom sheets may be a little small because they came loose and had to be remade every morning (this was the only annoyance of our entire stay). Having a good washing machine available was a very welcome amenity, and an excellent drying rack. Can't speak to the air conditioning as it was still chilly, but the heat worked just fine when we needed it. All in all, we recommend this place highly and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The Best in Town

This property could best be described as a three story town house on the water. It was like new inside and very clean. The full height doors and sliders plus the third floor deck had great views and the sight and sound of surf. A short walk to restaurants and the harbor as well as small grocery stores made the location perfect.

Das Haus ist wirklich ein Volltreffer. Es ist sehr gut ausgestattet, sehr sauber, mitten im Ort nahe an guten Restaurants (Atlantico und Praia Cafe) und direkt neben dem entzückenden kleinen Stadtstrand, an dem wir jeden Tag zum schwimmen waren, um uns danach auf der unglaublichen Dachterrasse zu sonnen. Der Atlantik ist immer präsent im Haus und auf der Insel. Hermínio war ein toller Gastgeber, sehr aufmerksam. Insgesamt sehr sehr empfehlenswert!

Sehr schönes Apartment mit einer Wahnsinns Terrasse, wir haben jeden Abend dort verbracht. Leider sind die Schlafzimmer im EG und direkt an der Straße gelegen. Ausgestattet ist die Wohnung sehr gut. Wir wurden leider jeden späten Abend Opfer von Klingelstreichen. Alles in allem war es ein schöner Aufenthalt.

Sehr schönes, hell und modern eingerichtetes Ferienhaus mit allem Komfort, den man benötigt. Die Lage direkt am Meer und die Aussicht durch die Panorama Schiebetüren und von der großen, wunderschönen Dachterasse aus, ist einfach phantastisch! Meeresrauschen rund um die Uhr! Die Putzfee, die alle vier bis fünf Tage wirbelt ist der Hammer, das Haus wird immer tiptop gereinigt. Auch der Vermieter ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Beautiful modern house spanning three levels with absolutely incredible views of the sea. Walking down the stairs from the terrace and looking out the living room window you'd think you were on a cruise ship. Generally pretty quiet and tranquil location, though I could see it being a bit noisy if you needed to leave the windows open in the summer at night. Fully appointed kitchen and barbecue that allowed for all kinds of cooking. Very close to a big grocery store that had all the staples we needed and 30-45 minutes to all the sights on the island. There was always a parking spot on the street right out front. The town definitely has a very local feel, which really enhances the experience. Highly recommended!

This apartment is bright, pristine, modern and convenient for walking to two grocery stores, the farmer's market, whale and dolphin tours and several restaurants, including our favorite, "The Praia Cafe". The incredible view and privacy windows were greatly appreciated. If you plan to cook I suggest you bring along salt, pepper and any seasonings you use.

Das Haus ist einfach zum wohlfühlen. Modern eingerichtet und super sauber.Der Grill auf der Dachterrasse auch genial. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich das das Haus alle 3-4 gereinigt wird + Handtuch wechsel. Der Vermieter Herminico kam nach einer Woche persönlich vorbei um sich zu erkundigen das alles in Ordnung ist.

Haus ist von der Lage hervorragender Ausgangspunkt für Inselerkundung, man hört die Brandung und ist trotzdem im Herzen der Satdt, ist in Laufdistanz schnell am Hafen , Strand, Restaurants und Lebensmittelgeschäften, Haus ist modern und sehr sauber, sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeber, Inselurlaub ohne Schickimicki, bodenständige Einwohner, die gerne weiterhelfen, Natur spektakulär,. Wohnen auf 3Etagen in der 1. Häuserreihe direkt am Atlantik. Modernste, hochwertige Ausstattung. Sehr gutes Box-Spring-Bett, Einbauschränke. Schicke Dusche, hochwertige Einbauküche, Induktionsherd, bequeme Couch, fantastische Dachterrasse mit freiem Blick zum Atlantik. Klima-, Heizgeräte in allen Zimmern. Topservice wie Reinigung, Wäsche-, Handtuchwechsel alle 3 - 4 Tagen. Vermieter vor Ort, sehr freundlich, kümmert sich sehr zeitnah um alle Fragen oder Wünsche. Wir würden wieder kommen!
