Fitch Mountain Lookout (FML) is perched on the south (sunny!) side of Fitch Mountain in Healdsburg. Its stunning views of the forested river valley below often showcase Osprey & Egrets flying along the water's edge, while Otters and Herons hang around the banks. Deer and their fawn (Quails and their little chicks) trot by the bedroom windows daily, and the provided Hummingbird Happy Hour kit entices our furious fliers to provide daily entertainment on all the decks while Chickadees, Titmice, Stellar & Scrub Jays, Grosbeaks, Pine Siskins, Gold Finches, and even Orioles hop in for wild seed, a sip of nectar, or bird bath. It is a fantastic 2000 square foot multi-level 3 bedroom, 2 full bathroom reverse-flow floor plan home. The main level of the home showcases an amazing 12ft picture window with a large open flow family room to living room concept. This area features a picturesque retro Vermont Castings fireplace, ample cozy seating, & is perfect for sipping wine, playing board games, or catching up on your favorite show.
Yes, FML is nestled in the woods, on a little mountain, & feels delectably removed from the busy world, but tech lovers' have nothing to fear! The family room is equipped with a 58' flat-screen smart TV to make using your streaming services and apps easy! No Roku or Amazon stick needed! And you can cast from your cell phones & laptops. Additionally, we offer bluetooth surround sound bar & speakers for an enhanced tv sound experience--which can also be used to stream your favorite playlists. The entire house boasts up to 500mbps Wifi for over 11 devices, so any “unplugging” or “disconnecting” you do, will be completely at your discretion!
The formal dining room seats 8 with stellar forest views, connected to a well-equipped kitchen with spacious counters (& 2 barstool seats) that make it great for cooking. It also has a Caffeine Corner full of extras that will delight the coffee & tea lover in your group. The kitchen ends with french doors that flow out to the massive BBQ deck that also has dining for 8 under adorable bistro lights. Break off from the group & take the back stairs down to the Coffee & Cuddles Deck (with Moonrise Meadow views) for a more intimate chat or play some jumbo Connect 4! Relax your muscles & mind in the luxury spa, complete with waterfall & led light features (or my favorite, leave it dark & simply enjoy the star-infused sky) on the forest facing deck.
All of the bedrooms have spectacular views over the Russian River Valley. Truly, there are no bad views! Each room has luxury linens (genuine 600-thread count organic cotton) paired with down-alternative duvets, featuring such cuddly-worthy duvet covers, they might tempt you to stay snuggled past your alarm. The Van Gogh (Spa Level with forested valley views) & Duncanson (Penthouse Level with river views) bedrooms are generously sized, both with chat corners, & still roomy enough to set up our Graco Pack´n Play to keep any little ones within earshot & eyesight (the home is not child-proof, children should be closely monitored at ALL times).
With multiple outdoor decks for humans & fur-babies alike to enjoy festive BBQ feasts, amazing wildlife, refreshing forest ambiance, star-riddled nights, or the luxury 37 jet hot tub, we think we might just redefine what “FML” means to you!

Through a tall pocket door, this room boasts a massive walk-in closet (with a larger dresser) that allows any fashionista to hang all their lovelies and coordinate their daily outfits. The pillow-top queen bed invites even the earliest of risers to stay tucked in for just another minute, while two extremely cushioned chairs lure any reader to curl up with their favorite book (or one from the lending library) or the chatty conversationalist to host court. A large desk and chair serve double duty as a work desk or vanity station to finish that last task, or glam up for a night out, all while keeping cool with its own air conditioning system (seasonal). This massive room has options for everyone. The charming wood cathedral ceilings create an airiness while the lovely bay window beckons you to take a seat and absorb the river and forest views (& seasonal sunrise fog). We had a lovely family vacation at Stephen's house. The hummingbirds and views were stunning and we loved being on the mountain close to the beach. Communication was very easy and thorough. We came during a heat wave and the AC units struggled a bit to keep up at times, but it was 100 degrees plus so very understandable.

As professionally managed and hosted a VRBO accommodation as I have experienced. Everything is thought of in advance, including mapped and detailed instructions to a somewhat remote location, to the two river beaches within a short walk of the house, etc. The idea is, I think, to avoid the frustrations one can sometimes feel in these types of arrangements when these types of things are not clear. The large house, numerous decks, first-class Weber BBQ grill, intentional attraction to the house of dozens of humming birds and other birds each day, the sight of mother and baby deer just below our deck, first-class hot tub, stupendous views, set-up with kayaks and large river tubes, immediate responses to every question (like a concierge) — you get the picture.

Tenay, the property manager was outstanding!! The home was warm and inviting from the accommodations, the hot tub to the amazing views. The travel from Boston to CA couldn’t have been any better. Thank you again Tenay for all your advice and help!!!
4.8
The location is remote and peaceful with great views and minutes from Healdsburg. We would recommend the Wine Country Walking Tour with Greg (amazing!) We also did an exciting self-guided raft trip with Russian River Adventures. The hot tub at Fitch Mtn Lookout was a welcome treat after rafting. The only challenge of FML is, if you are in the top bedroom, it's 2 flights down to the bathroom in the night but the stairs have nice lighting. The hosts are very responsive with any questions you might have. Great find!!
4.8
We had a great experience at Fitch Mountain Lookout. The home has a great view, is a short walk downhill to the river, and only a short drive to town. We most enjoyed watching the birds come to the feeders in the morning while we started our day in the hot tub!

We will be staying here again! Love Healsburg, love the wine, and this house was a great way to enjoy it. Stephen and Tay were wonderful hosts and they sincerely work to make your stay enjoyable. The house, elevated on the hillside, has amazing views, is clean and has everything you need for a great vacation in wine country. Highly recommend.

We loved our stay at Fitch Mountain lookout for our anniversary get away over New Year’s. Weekend. The house is very comfortable with stunning views of the Russian River valley and more hummingbirds in one place than we’ve ever experienced. Less than 10 minutes from Healdsburg with its delightful shops and restaurants and perfect for day trips to Sonoma County wine destinations and the beautiful Sonoma Coast. Communication with our host and the management team was flawless and we appreciated the bottle of champagne and goodies that awaited our arrival. Dog friendly too!

Wow. The views from this home are
breathtaking. It was tempting to just stare out the window all day. The home itself is lovely, with a well-stocked kitchen for cooking and baking, a super nice bbq, and all the bedding was so soft and comfy. The dining room has feels elegant and modern, seats 8 with comfy velvet chairs, and more great views.
Also, they do not just “allow” dogs, but love them, my Max was very pampered. They provide a whole set-up for them! They had this super plush bed set for him, with a surprise gift, plus a basket of filled with quick dry towels, a chuck it, and even a whole jar filled with delectable doggie treats. Max was in heaven, which of course made me very happy.
The morning fog and sunrises on the spa deck were glorious, despite some occasional rain. If you sit toward the back of the spa, you’re out of the rain and can enjoy the brave hummies and finches that are ever present (& you’re supplied with food to refill them)!
The boutique welcome wine was yummie, and there was even a voucher for a buy one get one tasting (I don’t know if they always have these) which was fabulous. Their custom visit guides helped us plan a fantastic trip, and we still have quite a long list to “to do’s” for future visits, including adding a day to rent the kayaks and get out on the river!
I think we found our new Healdsburg wine country home base. Everyone was a delight to communicate with, and ensured I had everything I could need.
Thank you Stephen & T

Beautiful views! Short drive to Healdsburg. House was decorated for the birthday and all the accommodations were great. Would definitely stay again!

Wow! Just a perfect place to get away with friends for the weekend. We very much enjoyed feeding and “playing” with the hummingbirds. Hot tub on the deck was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the view. The town of Healdsburg is less than 10min away so we could go and enjoy all it had to offer. However, staying at the home and taking the short walk down to the river was the highlight for us. We would definitely book here again!
4.8
Wonderful place to stay! Beautiful view, very responsive host. Super clean with a well-stocked kitchen. Would happily stay here again!!
4.8
We had an excellent time staying here. There was a lot of space and the outdoor areas are excellent. The spa was great to have. It was fun to sit and watch all of the birds feeding as well. There is no cell service, but we were warned prior to making the drive so make sure you follow the instructions. We'd highly recommend staying here. The host was very thorough and friendly!

“What a nice escape, we live in Glen Ellen but wanted to just chill on the river with our dogs. They never get to come so thank you for welcoming them! Sat in the jacuzzi in the mornings with the fog & coffees, perfect!! The owners are super sweet and checked in on us to make sure we were all good.
Dogs: Tucker, Dillon & Rascal
Humans: Kathy & Steve”

Stayed here with a group of 6 moms, and we had a blast! Such a beautiful property. We enjoyed the views, the birds, and the easy 10 minute drive to Healdsburg square. Very communicative management staff -- easy to reach, responsive, and helpful. Say hi to the hummingbirds for me!

This place is magical! The views are breathtaking, the property is spotless and well-appointed, and the hosts go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. They're not joking about the hummingbirds -- they're everywhere, and so friendly! My husband even got to hand-feed one, thanks to the guidance provided by our hosts. The location can't be beat. Just a 5-minute drive down the mountain, and you're in town square surrounded by amazing restaurants, shops, and wine tasting rooms. We would absolutely stay here again!

Overall it’s a beautiful location and area. We loved Healdsburg and being able to access it while also having the serenity of feeling like you were staying in the forest was awesome. The hummingbirds and finch are really neat to see. The hosts are very accommodating and there if you need them!
4.8
We had a great time and the communication was great. Loved the views and access to the river (rented tubes & kayaks - highly recommend)! House is nicely appointed. Town is fantastic.
One note for renters who plan to Uber/Lyft instead of driving - it is not easy to fund a driver at all times, so plan accordingly for extra time to find and get a driver.
4.8
A very beautiful home with stunning views. The sheer amount of feathered visitors was astonishing. The home itself was spotless and was perfect for the four of us.
4.8
This is a wonderful property located within Healdsburg, just a few minutes from the downtown square and walking distance from two Russin River beaches. The home is beautifully maintained with views of the Russian River and more hummingbirds and finches than we've ever seen! Our son was able to hand feed several hummingbirds - which we never thought possible. Stephen, the owner is very knowledgeable about wineries and tours. We had a wonderful three day stay and I would highly recommend this location.
4.8
The property was lovely! Clean, comfortable and the communication was great. We did not have any issues but I felt confident if we did they would be addressed. Walking in to personalized touches was so cute. Had everything we needed and would definitely stay there again. Very much enjoyed the hot tub and surrounding scenery. Birds were amazing! So many hummingbirds, jays, finches and woodpeckers. Town is close and we enjoyed our time there…lots of good food and wine. The hospitality all around was top notch.
The roads getting to the house are extremely narrow, we were glad to have navigated them for the first time in daylight…not a long drive on these roads. If you have any issues with stairs the house would be difficult to maneuver. The river was ok, nothing great about it. That being said it is a beautiful home in a special area.
4.8
We enjoyed our stay at this comfortable and welcoming home especially furnished and thoughtfully equipped for for guests. It has all the amenities needed to enjoy a nice get away from home and reunion with friends. It is in the lovely Fitch mountain hills just a few miles from the center of Healdsburg, with beautiful views and hundreds of hummingbirds and other birds attracted to the bird feeders on the property. The hosts are warm and friendly and communicated well with us before and throughout our stay. Thank you for the extra touches you provided to help us enjoy our visit in your home and in Healdsburg!
4.8
The house is in a beautiful, peaceful, and unique location, with plenty of room for our family and lots of space to hang out together and have quiet time. Close to a lot of fun things. Every amenity imaginable. Great nighttime lighting.
4.8
We had a great stay here celebrating my wife's 40th bday. The location is beautiful - I've never seen so many cool birds. At any given time you could see 15-20 hummingbirds around the house and there is a large window with a great view to watch. This location is about 10 minutes from downtown Healdsburg so not far at all to go to dinner or to visit wineries. The hot tub is great too. This is a very good option for anyone looking to for a place to stay in Healdsburg.
4.8
This is a beautiful vacation rental!
The location is perfect, 10 minutes from Healdsburg a town that has great resteraunts such as like The Troubadour, Willies, and the Quail and Condor. The shops are upscale and unique, I would be surprised if you leave without any trinkets.
The lookout has 14 busy hummingbird feeders and feeders for the plentiful American Goldfinches, House fitches, Scrub and Steller's Blue Jays, just to name a few. I had a great time photographing and watching them.
The house has so many windows with amazing views. You can see even the Russian river and hear it from the beautiful wrap around balcony.
The living room is huge with plenty of comfortable couches to sit in, beautifully decorated, gorgeous fireplace. It has a huge window with a amazing view of the mountains and river. The bedrooms were comfortable and we both had a great nights sleep.
The hosts are wonderful, they sent lots of information before my trip and they called when we arrived to help familiarize us with their home.
I definitely recommend this vacation rental and now that my son will be working in Healdsburg, I will be back.
4.8
Enjoyed a peaceful and private stay at this whimsical property perfectly set on Fitch Mountain.
Out of every window and balcony are bird feeders that attract happy hummingbirds and all types of birds. Spent a lot of time relaxing looking out the windows to soak in the natural beauty.
Stephen and Tenay are gracious and responsive hosts. Thank you for a relaxing stay. Looking forward to the next visit

Stephen and his caretaker, Tenay, were incredible hosts for our family before and during our getaway to wine country for Thanksgiving. They provided us with a list of wineries to try out, “fairy doors” to find with our little ones, and drives to the coast and river. When we arrived at the house, we were greeted with gifts for all of us, including the two dogs we brought with us! We even got a follow-up phone call an hour I’m after check-in (which they allowed us to do early btw!). We felt like our hosts went above and beyond to personalize our stay and cater to our traveling needs. We enjoyed watching and feeding the hummingbirds that visit the house. We also loved seeing the sunrise over the mountain each day. The kitchen had everything we needed to prep our Thanksgiving meal. All 7 of us (even two kids), plus 2 dogs, fit comfortably in this home! We would absolutely recommend a stay here if you are looking for an intimate stay in Healdsburg!

Our stay at the property was everything that we imagined. If you're looking for a weekend getaway with nice views and hummingbirds everywhere, this is your place to stay. The property manager is extremely kind and thoughtful and really makes the stay special.

Our time spent at Fitch Mountain was incredible. The home & property are beautiful, and the views are breathtaking! There is plenty of space to relax, inside & out. The living spaces are super comfortable & cozy, kitchen is well stocked with great appliances. Bedrooms are super comfortable & cozy as well. I felt very much at home. Also, the hummingbirds were an absolute delight. They brought me a lot of joy each day. We also saw some deer in the evenings, which I loved! I’m already missing the place, and will most definitely return in the future.
If someone in your group has mobility issues, they would likely want to stay in the first floor bedrooms. The layout worked well for us, but something to keep in mind. Our host, Tenay, was amazing. She was beyond accommodating! Thanks so much!

Outdoor decks are great! Many hummingbirds so fun to watch. Kitchen well stocked. Views are amazing. Owner great communicator. They decorated the dining to help us celebrate our anniversary, nice touch! However the 2 bathrooms are on the lowest level, no bathroom on main floor or the big bedroom on third floor, we weren’t able to use that big third bedroom due to no bathroom.

This was the cleanest place we’ve ever stayed and what a relief for our first time traveling with a baby. Our dog was also welcomed with a comfy bed, treats, and all the dog supplies you could hope for. Stephen and the property management team were a breeze to communicate with and we felt very safe and tended to. It was a relaxing and lovely stay for everyone in our group. And you can’t beat how close it is to town, but far enough to afford a spectacular view. We will definitely be back.

“Look out” lives up to the description and more. A bonus is that the photographer owners’ showcase some of their spectacular photos on clean white walls. It feels like an art gallery. Their attention to design details was fun. A simple fan is engineering art highlighted by a blue ceiling. These folks have taste and I will steal many ideas.
For our busy lives, the uncluttered simplicity was perfect for a monastic weekend. We enjoyed the quiet private setting, views across the valley, quick walks to the river and close proximity to the eats, treats, and tastes Healdsburg has to offer. The humming birds are magic. Viewing the stars from the hot tub left all my troubles behind. Thank you S and T. P

We really enjoyed our stay at the Finch Mountain Lookout! It has everything you need, the views are STUNNING, and the property manager checked in frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. Oh! And they added special touches for our birthday celebration.

Do not stay here. This man will watch you on his cameras (which is disturbing in itself), and then accuse you of being a criminal and try to charge you thousands of dollars for any minor infraction of his draconian rental agreement.
We took perfect care of his house. There was zero damage. But he is trying to fine us for “property damage” for having too many guests. We had well within the number of guests allowed at the property, but more than the number we initially listed when we booked. Instead of reaching out to us about it like a reasonable host, in which case we would have explained our mistake and paid the additional guest fee, he is claiming the maximum property damage amount allowed by vrbo, and he sent a message threatening us with “criminal” action from his lawyer (which is absolutely ridiculous).
This threatening action all came AFTER he sent us multiple very kind messages after our stay asking for a positive review. He never said anything was wrong. It is clear now that he was trying to manipulate us into leaving a positive review before threatening us to try to get us to pay for property damage that did not occur.
Staying here is not worth the risk. I’m sure this man will now respond to this review with some ramblings and accusations, as he’s done to others. Vrbo does not allow me to respond, but I’d suggest taking whatever he says with a grain of salt. Again, just don’t stay here. Why risk this treatment?

We were impressed with the thoughtfulness and small and large touches on the property. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed; the kitchen has everything necessary for the budding chef; games for adults; the Pet Play and Stay Kit was amazing as was the water gear for the family; hummingbirds and other feathered friends everywhere!; the Russian River a short walk away and the restaurants, shops and wine tasting in Healdsburg a seven minute drive. We truly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.
