About this house rental

This beautiful detached house is found near the village of Foxcote, surrounded by fields and woodland and has breath taking views. The house has five good sized bedrooms (two master suites with spectacular views) and three bathrooms. There is plenty of living space spread between the kitchen and three large receptions rooms. The house has its own fields, bordered at the bottom by the Wellow Brook.

As part of the property there is an old converted Bedford TK Horse Box and a fairly ancient 1970s Caravan which you are welcome to use on request. The Horse box has 2 double beds, and the caravan has a double bed and one single bed. Neither can be described as luxury accommodation but both are perfectly nice for teenagers, children and intrepid adults. Please ask for details and also note there will be an extra cost for both.

The village of Foxcote is quintessentially rural, its houses and farms scattered through the hills. The walks from the house are gorgeous, either bordering the river or meandering through the valleys, ending up at the enchanting country pubs of Shoscombe or Wellow. The place is steeped in history with pillboxes along the Brook and the ancient burial mound of Stoney Littleton Long Barrow a thirty minute walk away. Local outdoor activities beyond walking also include horse riding, rock climbing and hot air ballooning.

Foxcote is 15 minutes from the World Heritage city of Bath with its Roman Baths and Pump room, Bath Abbey, theatres and parks, excellent shopping facilities and restaurants. It is also within easy striking distance of the famous cathedral city of Wells, Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Glastonbury and Longleat House and Safari Park.

Unlike most holiday houses, this home has real character. Despite the odd inconvenience, it has proved for the second time, to give us the space and ambience that we appreciate! The week has been such a special one to be together and relax.... we have all found the special place inside and outside where we enjoy relaxing or playing.

Lovely home in a lovely location, hosts were very communicative and helpful throughout. Great walks across the fields to local pubs. We really enjoyed the fire pit and large garden, in particular.

A beautiful quirky home full of life and character
A beautiful quirky home full of life and character
Staying at Jacky's house was so perfect for our family get together. We were 3 generations and everyone was well catered for. The house was so full of character and charm, with so many family areas to hang out in (both inside and out), that we didn't need to go out as much as we had planned...it was so enjoyable just to be there. The house and gardens were so spacious and beautiful and Jacky was such a generous and helpful host, making us all feel so welcome and our stay so easy. We'd all love to come back again next year. Thanks so much, Jacky.

This is a home not a rental property. Walking in feels like stepping into an imaginary Marie Celeste. The place is full of the feel of the family who live here. It has everything you need for an idylic rural escape, bedrooms and lounge rooms galore, sheep, hens, rabbits and guinea fowl in the surrounding fields, a sheltered sitting area with a fire bucket to cut the chill of the evening, and wide views across to the distant church. Oh and yes their are pubs in good walking distance.
