About this cottage rental
Welcome to Hatteras Island! This cozy beach cottage is located just one back from the sands of the pristine Cape Hatteras National Seashore. With two bedrooms, one bath, and an open living and dining area, this is a perfect spot for your beach getaway. There is plenty of parking space, a covered area for equipment/gear, a fish cleaning station, outdoor shower, ROKU TV With Hulu Live, high speed Wi-Fi, and a shared laundry room. Beach access is across the street, and there are restaurants and shops within close walking distance. As a local resident, I can assist with any questions or concerns you may have during your stay, as well as point you in the direction of adventure and fun! I look forward to seeing you at the beach!

This house is in a great location but it is poorly maintained.
The roof leaked, we were locked out of the only bathroom and it was not cleaned properly so we did some of it ourselves.
It was not ready at check in time but this was not a problem for us as we arrived late.
This could be a good house if it was better maintained.

Very responsive host, easy check in. The cabin has a new deck, new chairs which was great. The two bedrooms and one full bathroom were clean and well stocked. Outside shower as needed. The location is awesome with a quick walk to a wide beach through the dunes. Walk to Avon Pier. Within walking distance to several restaurants and shops. Easy to get to other locations on Hatteras.

Getaway Cottage
Overall we had a good stay. We felt like the rental for this was a little overpriced considering that there is some work that needs to be done. The access to the beach was awesome! The location for the cottage is quiet. Usually we don’t pay for a beach house so this could just be accurate pricing for that area of the OBX. Chase was very nice and accommodating!

Overall good
Detail clean when possible. Trash behind both chess drawers. Fire extinguisher out of date. Smoke alarm was sitting on shelf. Trash can outside stunk . Good access to beach. I would suggest less kitchen items and don’t keep what other renters left behind. Have less but have utensils clean. I would not trust bottles of spices, etc that people left. Quiet.

Great little house with room for dogs.
The house was exactly as advertised. Good location to either walk to beach or drive 3 minutes to escape people so our dogs could run off leash on the National Seashore Park. Plenty of nearby restaurants and shops, it was a wonderful stay!

Dog friendly - get away
It was nice to have an option to stay with our 2 dogs at the beach. We enjoyed walks on the beach and sitting on the deck at night and watching the stars. Home was a good size for 2 adults and 2 dogs. However home could use a professional cleaning and is in need of some maintenance and repair. Owner was quick to respond regarding plumbing issues, but the decks and stairs are in need of TLC and not recommended for anyone with children or issues climbing steps.

August Beach Vacation
We had a beautiful week at the beach! The house was clean and very close to the beach. Everything was as advertised. I would recommend providing some hand towels. The grill is missing the lower grate so that made it difficult b/c the coals were too low. Chase was an awesome host who went out of his way to communicate and make our vacation very enjoyable. Just as described!
This cottage was exactly as described. If you're looking for a low key vacation with prime beach access,. this is the place for you. The walk to the beach was convenient and simple and the cottage had everything needed for our family of 4 + our dog. I had a hard time finding a pet friendly house so that our senior dog could join us for her last summer and I'm so glad I chose this one. The central location within Avon was ideal and if we hadn't had our dog with us, we probably would've walked or rode out bikes the whole week. We loved the wall of glass sliding doors and the large & comfy couch. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed for the week. Chase was super responsive and communication top notch. I am requesting a refund of $1,813 of the $4,697.54 paid to Chase Davenport due to the fact that the owner did not uphold the implied warranty of habitability for Reservation ID# HA-G6F1YG (June 12-26 2021).This rental property did not meet basic living and safety standards.This refund request has previously been sent to Chase (property owner) on 6/26/2021 via VBRO messages with no reply.The septic system was not operational the first week of our stay & was repaired the second week of the stay. The aroma of sewage & water overflowed from the septic tank every toilet flushed, laundry & dishwashers run or someone takes a shower in the unit. After alerting Chase of the severity, he sent a friend over to spread Lime powder around the overflow area.The area around the unit was wet to the point, the person mowing the grass was wearing knee high rubber boots. When the sewer construction was complete, we were left with no internet & cable.I alerted Chase. He insisted the outage was NOT due to construction.However, it was due to construction, and the cable company ran a wire across the newly dug yard to the nearest telephone pole.In addition to the septic issues, the property had other defects.The property advertised shared laundry, which anyone would assume is designated to individuals staying at the property. On numerous occasions, I witnessed individuals arrive at the property, that were not renters, and use the laundry facilities. It is an unsettling feeling to see strangers at your rental unit at various times of the day. I also requested that Chase ask the other renters in the units to not use the laundry facilities until the sewer was fixed, because of the massive overflow & stench that was escaping right next to our unit’s outdoor space. The use of laundry facilities by his friends only exasperated the issue of smell & overflow. I also do not believe the cleaning was up to the new standards that must exist due to Covid. The towels & sheets for the units, lay thrown and un-folded. I would also question the structural integrity of the steps up to the unit.Many of the steps appear to have been repaired by a non-professional.I even noticed a gap or two in the railing that should be addressed. On our last night, a tractor trailer arrived at 10:30pm, to pick-up the 2 pieces of heavy machinery that were used during construction.I have documented the above items & happy to share. This home should never have been rented in this condition.

Perfect pupper vacation
Had a blast with the 4 of us and our 2 dogs. Place was adorable and exactly like it was listed. Great location to the beach, even made friends with the next door neighbors and the house behind us. Definitely will stay there again.

Decent house, needs fine tuning
The distance from the beach is great, you just need to cross the street and climb over the dunes to get to the beach. The house was decent, and as advertised, but needs some attention to detail. The lighting was poor and it would have been great to have ceiling fans in each room. The kitchen was well stocked but could use a few more sets of silverware for a family of 4. All the appliances were new, and worked well, which was nice. The grill was missing the bottom grate for the coals to sit on which rendered the grill useless. The deck and stairs have seen better days and were soft to walk on in many places with the railings falling off, and the deck chairs were flimsy. Chase was very helpful and responsive with anything we needed. Overall, we had a great week and it was a fine place to stay, but it's got a ton of potential to be an awesome little cottage!

Thanksgiving beach trip
We stayed at this property over Thanksgiving. It was perfect for my husband and myself along with our two kids and two dogs. The kitchen had everything we needed and the location was perfect. Chase was easy to communicate with. We will definitely be back!

Property was as described, conveniently located to the beach and other amenities. It was definitely nice to be able to bring our two Labradors, although my 9 year old wouldn't climb the steps forcing me to carry her up! If your looking for a nice quite spot to kick back and relax this place is perfect!

Great location, open floor plan with a beautiful wall of windows, short walk to a great beach and nice comfy furnishings. We loved our stay and hope to get back to this cottage again. It was perfect for our family - 2 adults, a teenager and our small dog. Chase was very helpful and responded to questions very quickly. We had a great time - Thank you Chase!

Rustic but charming
The property is very clean, and the owner went out of his way to make sure we had everything and could check in when we wanted. It is rustic but extremely charming and in a great neighborhood. Added plus is the front porch is all gated off so our dog happily came in and out and in and out! Great hideaway for a long weekend.

Perfect Location, Steps from the Beach!
Tom and I couldn't have been more pleased with the house, the location and how awesome Chase the property owner was! We spent the week here with our dog, just steps from the beach. It was a perfect location! The house was super neat and clean with all the essentials. While we cooked some meals, we were within walking distance to anywhere we wanted to eat and a very short ride to the supermarket down the street. This two bedroom house was perfect for 3 people and our dog. Having coffee on the balcony at sunrise was such a treat. And amenities! Washer / dryer, grill, outside shower, even room for a few mean games of corn hole. The best part? Location. You can't beat being steps away from the beach. This was our first time in OBX and we're really looking forward to coming back next year. Tom already got new fins and a boogie board. Thanks for making it a great first experience Chase!

Perfect Avon Vacation
Chase is a great host. He thinks of everything. This house is exactly as described. Perfect location for a couple or small family that want to enjoy all that Hatteras Island has to offer. Very short walk over dunes to the beach. Neighborhood is peaceful and quiet. Restaurants, fresh seafood and libations all within walking distance. Kitchen stocked with everything you would expect. Interior is tastefully decorated and well equipped. It is simply and awesome beach house. This is why you come to Hatteras Island. You will have fun here!

Small but clean. Queen bed was comfortable enough.
Beach lovely but waves big and strong current. We didnt feel comfortable swimming. My husband fished on the shore and pier with no luck. Close to restaurants and Food Lion is a good grocery store.
Picnic table needs replacing and rental could use a few amenities such as tupperware, foil, cling wrap.
No real issues with the rental but beach was not as anticipated so I wouldn't return to the area.
We did enjoy Ocracoke island, quaint. 1 hr free ferry.

Cute, quaint little beach cottage!
This little place was more than we could have hoped for! My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary here and had a blast. The beach access was a super short walk and we enjoyed many days in the sun. The house is cozy with a beachy feel and is well stocked with all the essentials. We loved sitting out on the porch and liked having an outdoor shower to rinse off after days on the beach. Chase, the owner, is very responsive to messages and made sure we had everything we needed. The google speaker in the cottage was an awesome touch and we listened to our favorite songs all night long. Highly recommend this cute little cottage!
