About this house rental
Welcome to Villa Nel Bosco, a Tuscan-Style home with 4 bedrooms that can sleep up to 8 people. It is located on Trinity Road, which connects Napa and Sonoma Valleys.
What We Love About This Home
Located halfway between Oakville in Napa Valley and Glen Ellen in Sonoma County, this romantic Tuscan-style retreat is a one-of-a-kind historic estate. This beautifully decorated home and its lavish grounds create a setting where you will want to linger and forge memories of your own. The property even was featured on HGTV's House Hunters on Vacation!
Trinity Road takes you from the Sonoma Valley to the crest of the mountain and down the eastern slope to Napa Valley. Turning into Villa Nel Bosco, you’ll discover a broad, open meadow that sweeps down through a working vineyard of premium Syrah grapes and onward to a lush expanse of emerald green lawn. At the foot of the meadow is a Tuscan-style home; its warm, earthen tones and arched entryway welcomes visitors into this idyllic estate.
Exterior Details
Luxurious outdoor amenities, such as the great lawn, the bocce ball court, dining pergola, swimming pool with a sunken whirlpool spa, an outdoor shower and changing room, and fire pit, are enhanced by the backdrop of mature oak and pine trees that create a totally private environment.
Interior Details
As you enter the home, a curving staircase descends from the second floor, creating a graceful entryway, which opens to the various main floor rooms. The wall above, along with many corners of the estate, is hung with original art commissioned for the home.
Each room has windows and doors that open to the grounds. Rich green wooden exterior shutters imported from Italy are practical and decorative. The interior walls are hand-done in Venetian plaster with a soft, sand tone and all the floors have radiant heat, making the house comfortable in any season.
The main floor is designed for an easy flow. The kitchen is well equipped for gourmet preparation or a simple and delicious meal of local ingredients. Stainless steel appliances and oak cabinetry are a visual contrast to the custom concrete counters and floors. Have a casual breakfast or lunch break at the counter, or just kibitz with the cook. The kitchen is open to the dining area and its hand-hewn table and leather chairs.
Beyond the dining room is a media room/den with a large flatscreen TV and media center. The house is wired for sound that can be controlled from individual rooms. A guest half-bath with copper sink and custom vanity is located between the kitchen and the downstairs bedroom.
Carved, rolling wood doors off the entryway of the house lead you into the front guest bedroom. This bedroom shares the downstairs half bathroom with the other rooms on the first floor. The two twin beds face the window to the lawn and vineyards and a window seat overlooks the garden. The room has two armoires, one with a flatscreen TV.
A separate living room offers tufted leather couches with a slat table between them on a thick carpet.
The second floor staircase leads to a landing and an alcove with an antique desk near three arched glass doors leading out to a wrought-iron balcony.
The primary bedroom has a king bed with a linen headboard. The room offers a walk-in closet, cozy seating areas and a wooden cabinet that contains a flatscreen TV. The vaulted ceiling gives a feeling of space and intimacy at the same time. There is a glass door that opens to a petit balcony overlooking the bocce court.
An oversized soaking tub in the primary bath allows you to gaze out at the vine-covered pergola and pool below. There’s a glass-walled shower with European-style fixtures, a custom concrete vanity with two sinks and a separate toilet.
A second upstairs bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed and a blend of elements such as an Indonesian headboard, a zinc chest with crisp linens, and an inviting air. There are ample closets and a flatscreen TV. The third upstairs bedroom has a fresh country quality and contains a queen bed. This room has a flatscreen TV, double closets and a vaulted wood ceiling and a glass door opening to the sleeping porch. These 2 guest bedrooms share a spacious bath with two ceramic sinks and a custom marble counter. The stucco walls are finished in a cool, blue, and the theme is carried into the separate shower and toilet with light blue stone tile.
With so many exceptional and captivating aspects to experience, you will want to linger at Villa Nel Bosco, finding your own set of memories to take with you.
Guests staying at Nel Bosco will enjoy access to BeautifulPlaces pre-arrival assistance. The property is stunning and the house is very beautiful. The pool area in the back is a lovely place to congregate, as is the fire pit out front. The bedrooms are comfortable, although the shower pressure is VERY poor (several in my group didn't even wash their hair the entire trip because of the low pressure). The main con is the remoteness--it's difficult to get Ubers/Lyft to the property so if you plan on relying on those for transportation I would look elsewhere. It takes a solid 20+ minutes to get to Yountville, and longer to get to Sonoma square. If you want to spend lots of time at the house relaxing, and less time going out and about, this would be a great option as the house is very beautiful. If you want to be coming and going from the house often, then I'd look closer to town.

The house was amazing and we had a great time at the property. It was a great location to visit Napa Valley or Sonoma.

Beautiful home, good location to cover both Napa and Sonoma. We had a great stay.

Pls note we gave this a 5star and it is deserving. They have thought of everything. The drive up Trinity Rd is not for the faint of heart and we were there during the atmospheric river rain! Not a place to drive during bad weather, think washed out roads and mud slides. BUT the property during good weather I have heard “magical” and I believe it! Just not our luck this time :)

What an absolutely perfect place to stay in the Napa/Sonoma Valley! Perfect location right between both valleys. Such a relaxing place with everything you need. Quiet location with a fabulous backyard and pool. Some of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. Just book it!

What an incredible property! We visited to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday and had a wonderful time. Using the hot tub under the night sky filled with stars was one of our highlights. We also enjoyed sitting in the front room playing card games by the roaring fire. Hearing the birds talking to each other in the morning was another treat. The house is so well built and decorated simply beautifully. I will definitely visit again. It is a little jaunt up the hill, but no big deal especially if you have a driver, which I would recommend if you are going out for a day or wine tasting. The solitude is magical!

This experience has been exceptional! The road to the house is a little nerve racking but worth the trip. The house is exactly as advertised.

Property was amazing. Highly recommend!

It was a magical week; we were 3 couples and it was more than spacious for 6 people. Even though 2 of the rooms upstairs had to share a room, there were no issues associated with that. Ellen Freschauf was extremely accessible when we had mechanical issues in the house. We would gladly come back again.

Spectacular home in a VERY Remote Location away from all the hustle and bustle. 30 mins from the Vineyards in St. Helena and Yountville. Great Pool and home has a Fabulous Kitchen. Loved it !!!

Six girlfriends stayed in the house - property is beautiful and house is unique. The property was centrally located with access to both Napa and Sonoma wine country. If you are prone to motion sickness the road to the house can be a challange.

Idyllic stay in the hills above Sonoma
This beautiful property delivered everything it promised – the house itself was impressive inside and out and made for a wonderful getaway in the hills between Sonoma and Napa Valleys. The beds were extremely comfortable, and we were motivated to order new mattresses for our own beds at home as soon as we got back. We went swimming every day in the pool to take advantage of the mid-afternoon summer heat. We dined several times in Kenwood in restaurants with outdoor patios as well as on the property. The property managers were very responsive before, during, and after our stay—and after we discussed that we had left a child’s stuffed animal behind in one of the bedrooms, they went above and beyond in mailing it back to us with a sweet card. The road leading to the house is a winding one, but we navigated it every day without mishap.

Napa-June 2022
Very Nice property with all of the amenities that we needed - travel to and from was a little more than expected with the winding (ascending / descending) roads, but were happy to spend time at the Villa while we were there.

Beautiful and awesome location to both valleys. Quiet and very comfortable for our group will most definitely visit again.

Incredible Stay
The property was gorgeous, exceeded expectations. Turning the corner of the driveway and seeing the house for the first time is a spectacular moment. You could easily come here and happily spend your entire vacation just at the house. Communication before and during our visit was very prompt, helpful, and informative.
I know a few other reviews mentioned the road up the mountain to the property-- in my opinion, it's really not that bad if you have some experience driving through mountains (think northern AZ, Colorado). The roads are winding, and there are some sharp turns, but it's definitely do-able if you consider yourself a reasonably good driver. If you have concerns, just take it slow, and avoid driving in the dark. The host can connect you with a car service as well.
Overall, would highly recommend, and would stay here again.

Just a wow property from the time you drive up. A bit of afternoon serenity after a busy day in Napa. A true gem. We will be back!

Wonderful villa!
We loved our stay at Villa Nel Bosco. The house and grounds are beautiful and exactly as they appear in the listing. The pool area in particular is stunning. The amenities (e.g., bedding, TV set up) are an added bonus. The staff at BeautifulPlaces was communicative and helpful. The roads up to the house are long and winding, but the location is otherwise perfect. Would rent again in a heartbeat!

Tranquil, Idylic, Peaceful
You will be transported to another world. The house and property are perfectly situated and provided the rest, relaxation, and space for our group. Every part of the property is well thought out and gave us the exact experience we were looking for and then some. We were a party of 4 couples celebrating a big birthday and several significant anniversaries. The kitchen was amazing for our group (including a chef/caterer).
The drive up is not for the faint of heart. It is not easy for those that have never experienced the road but well worth it. We created many wonderful memories and the team managing the property really went above and beyond to make our stay truly ideal.
Highly recommend for anyone wanting to get away from it all or bring together family and friends for an unforgettable experience.
