We were only looking for a place to drop our stuff, room to have a shower and get ready before heading to the theatre which was only 18mins walk away and a place to rest our head. This ticked all our boxes. Bed very comfy, staff welcoming. Nice and clean. If you just want a place to put your head down and keep your belongings whilst you visit the many attractions in the city it's ideal. For the price we paid we got all we needed.
Single glazed windows so you can hear some noise from outside but as your not on a party road noise was not constant. No coffee in room only tea but we like tea too so that's fine. No hot water for a shower in the morning but this may be if other rooms were having showers at the same time it can affect the temperature. That's fine with us though. I understand as I used to work in a hotel. Still was able to wash and brush teeth. Room was on a slight slant so the bed did feel like it was lower on the right but the mattress was extremely comfy so I slept well. Small TV but wasn't there to stay in bed watching TV so no real issue. Suggest having blackout curtains/blinds. Not a lot of light got in but as we approach summer the early light can disturb sleep.

Believe the reviews on Trip Advisor.
I usually take bad reviews as a grain of salt, so I took a gamble on this hotel.
I look for location & price when booking. I stayed here due to flight complications, so this was the best price for the location at short notice. This place looks like it belongs in a scary movie. When arrived, I honestly laughed at myself. I quickly got dressed, so I could go out to dinner and get hammered, before having to sleep in this yucky hotel. Worse than I thought possible.
cleanliness, up keep, windows that were more secure. Smelled of smoke.
Doors seemed unsecure. No safe available for valuables. Bad signage on exterior buildings to indicate what buildings belonged to hotel & where "lobby" was located.

The only good thing was location.Otherwise old dirty stained smelly carpets, stained curtains, unwashed tea spoon, creaky floor boards….the list is endless
Everything as mentioned above.oh yes no lift with dangerous staircase to climb with luggage and no AIRCON.When I opened window as iLondon was sweltering at 28degrees room was swarmed by houseflies.Barhroom was so tiny that it was impossible to take shower unless idea of taking shower means not moving your arms In shower at all. Horrible experience

Very run down hotel in an excellent location

Location is about all this hotel had to offer me.
The TV remote was missing on arrival. After complaining the technician appointed came to determine the TV make and model, advising that someone had stolen the remote. The replacement unit he later arrived with had dead batteries. He then had to go to a shop to buy more. The technician had an odour of drink, not a good advert for the premises.
I was advised that the premises had no dining rook for breakfast despite this being clearly stated in the guest book in the bedroom even though this is stated on the Booking.com page. Overall a distinct lack of attention to detail.
The toilet had brown stains in the bottom of the bowl, towel rail was hanging off the wall. The shower tidy was loos on the wall and not fit for purpose, obviously blocked.
The shower drain barely coped so flooded.
The shower head had residual lime scale on it which does not indicate to me that legionella risk control in the premises was adequate. (I do this for a living so found this unacceptable)
Toiletries were inadequate.
No teabags were provided only instant coffee.
There was a constant sound of running water in the soil pipe, presumably from an upstairs room, this was reported.
No bath matt is provided to keep the floor free from splashed water from the shower.
I had to jam the TV areal cable against the wall to maintain a constant signal.
The valance on the bed was tatty and frayed.
The room was not cleaned during my three night stay. Overhearing another guest at reception I understand they only plan to service rooms every two days.
There is a sign in reception reminding customers to give them a good review!!!!!!
I routinely get a much better service from a nearby hotel, when I can get a room (I stay in the area around once every two months) this a depressing alternative for the same money.
My impression is that guests are there to make the owners money, there appears to be no interest in providing a competitive professional service available in other hotels for the same price.

Leaving
The Portable appliance test (PAT) certificate was out of date by 1 year for the TV (that didn't work) and more than 6 months for the kettle and the fan, the hair dryer didn't even have one attached.
The TV did not work as it had no aerial reception.
The promised garden view overlooked a flat roof and some untidy trees.
The check in was long and made more complicated than necessary.

The hotel is ideally situated a short walk away from the British Museum, the beautiful park and coffee shop at Russell Square and very conveniently close to St. Pancras and two Piccadilly line tube stations. I had room number 8 on the second floor of the Thanet main building (not the annex). The room was mostly clean, except for the carpet, which was hoovered upon request, so no problem there. The bed and sheets were spotlessy clean and comfortable to sleep in. The old fashioned window could be opend which was a pleasant surprise, as this is not always possible in other hotels. There were 3 sockets, quite a number of light switches and lamps and a hair dryer which all worked fine. The shower was very small, but ok if you‘re not very tall and bulky; the water was hot and there was enough pressure to produce a good shower experience. Wifi was excellent.
The toothbrush glas wasn‘t clean and the rubber shower mat was mouldy, but it had obviously not been used for a very long time as it was rolled up and had been stuck in the small space between the toilet and wall. The tv didn‘t work, but I didn‘t use it anyway. The chair looked rather tattered and worn out, its upholstery is in desperate need of renewal.

The staff is excellent, very helpful. and always polite. Bed was comfortable. The hotel is in Holborn which is very central yet quiet. Tube is 5 mins walking. Places like Covent Garden, Soho, and Chinatown are super close as well.
I was having trouble taking a proper warm shower. Although everything set like it should be, the water wasn't even lukewarm, and the water flow wasn't excellent neither.

the location was brilliant.
the room was incredibly dirty, lots of hair on the carpet and stains on the beds.
The bathroom was dirty and shower room had a mouldy shower curtain. The shower didn’t stay hot for long and the shower light kept going off, you had to wave your arms around to turn it back on.
The kettle in the room was broken and the milk was out of date.
There was a lot of door slamming throughout the hotel during the night.

Location in central london was important. Most hotels were outside the budget, the Thanet luckily was inside. The double room was perfect - given I was mostly at work, and out for dinner the majority of the day/night. I could sleep well.
the property was sufficient for my needs

location was fine
needed a little maintenance.

The location was great. The staff were quite friendly. They could accommodate a late check-in. There were some decent books lying around. The price seemed to be quite competitive.
Thin walls, tiny room, not especially clean. (Shared) toilet and shower room in need of renovation, a bit grim. Certainly not the standard I'd expect for a three-star hotel.

Large clean room, historic building in central location, quiet street in the front and green area in the back.
No reception (had to go to nearby Lonsdale Hotel), little water pressure in the shower, very slow to get warm water in the shower, no shampoo in shower, just Tesco handwashing soap, remote control of the tv out of batteries, no breakfast, expensive for what I got, etc.
2.0 / 5.0
Location perfect
The building was shabby, top floor, sink had a 'do not use' sign on it, no cups
1.5 / 5.0
The location was useful for my trip
The room locks were not very secure, the rooms were not very clean nor cleaned or towels changed during my stay, the so called toiletries were laughable. The cups for the coffee were dirty and unwashed. There were old drink stains on the bedside table.
The extract fan in the bathroom had been turned off and this has led to mould growth in the bathroom.
How can a so called three star hotel not offer any dining facilities or even a continental style breakfast.
I was originally offered a room on the third floor and there is no lifts available.
It just felt that everything was being done 'on the cheap'.
I will not recommend nor be returning to this hotel.
