Fantastic location, property surrounded by amazing cafes, restaurants, unique shopping. At night great choices of Yakitori and bars. Host also offers many great suggestions, many of which we tried and thoroughly enjoyed. Only 5 mins walk to train so great location to stay to explore Tokyo. Wi-fi was also fantastic, best we had had in Japan.

Fantastic location, right in the middle of Shimokitazawa, hub for youth culture. Great bars, places to eat. A supermarket and the station are literally around the corner. The host, Ryo, provided a comprehensive list of suggestions for places to eat and drink (although some have closed). Also a great place to stay if you like second hand record shopping. The apartment was small but had everything we needed, even a washing machine. The instructions to get there and get in were super clear.
It wasn't quite clear that we were getting the apartment, not the loft, which didn't really matter in the end. It would be nice to have newer, thicker towels and a more comfortable couch, but these are minor quibbles.

Perfect location in Shimokitazawa, which is away from the main touristy area. Very close to the metro station, with lots of great restaurants and bars closeby, as well as cool shopping. The hosts were very responsive and had great recommendations for the neighbourhood. The bed in the loft was very comfy as well. We didn't use the kitchen at all (because we are in Japan and want to eat all of the food!) but it looked very well-appointed. I would absolutely stay here again, and recommend this place to any friends.
Nothing, it was great!

Location is fantastic! The apartment is a good size for my family of 4 and the loft space was surprisingly spacious! Love the little attentive details like the cacti with ‘name cards’. Host was really nice - we requested for an early check-in as we arrived very early in the morning and he acceded (which is super rare in our air bnb stays)! He was also very prompt, friendly and helpful in his replies. I left my jacket there and he offered to check out postage details. Much appreciated!
A minor quibble- the sofa bed was a tad worn. But that was easily ‘solved’ with the clean sheets and extra bedding/mattresses provided. Also, the double bed in the loft was very comfortable!

The apartment was very clean and well-appointed. Our host responded very quickly to our concerns, although the solution was out of his control.
The booking for this apartment is very tricky because, apparently, they book more than one apartment under the same heading using the same photos. If you're not paying closer attention than I was, you'll book the wrong one without realizing it. The photos show a loft and apartment (I assumed incorrectly that the loft and apartment were the same place, but they're not.) I was expecting to walk into a brightly lit apartment with a separate loft for sleeping and space for my son, but, instead, walked into a dim, small (but tidy and otherwise nice) studio apartment. I immediately felt that I'd been a victim of bait and switch and was pretty disappointed. Our host responded quickly to our concern and explained how the listing worked. He was very apologetic and attempted to move us, but the loft was already booked. Once I resolved to not let this hiccup get in my way, we made the best of the tidy little studio. After walking around Shimokitazawa, I realized that the price for this space was reasonable given it's location.
All in all, my only criticism of this was the lack of clarity in the booking process. I'm unsure whether that's an issue with the host or with Booking.com, but just be more aware than I was and you'll be satisfied.

Good location
Decor was very minimal as described…needed extra hooks for hanging bath towels The downstairs wardrobe could be less cluttered to hang clothing properly

This is a great location for shopping and chilling out in the neighbourhood. Shimo-Kitazawa has a great vibe. There was a lovely live band pub right next door to the building.
A very helpful owner when it came to communication and problem solving
I am always very supportive of independent businesses so I am very mindful in my critique. Unfortunately, I think this loft doesn't suit families at all. It is a better suited as a bachelor pad or for bunch of guys staying for a few days without the hassle of cooking etc and not being fussy about the condition or amenities. The photos of the property in the listing don't really reflect the true state of the space as some of the things were pretty run down. It was our only poor experience in Japan and given that these were our last 2 nights in Tokyo, it was tough.
The place seems to have been affected by Covid-19 losses and the neglect showed everywhere. We were greeted by a faintly stale fragrance in the house. There were three dead/dying plants, holes in the sofa fabric, pretty messy kitchen cabinet with no cutleries drawer and dusty appliances. The bedsheets were crumpled and pretty thin too. Now, I wasn't expecting hotel standard cleanliness but this didn't meet the cut. In every Japanese place we stayed we cooked breakfast for our boys but in this place, we were uncomfortable even drinking water from the tap. In fact, my partner developed a headache while inside the apartment so we had keep the door to the balcony open just to get some fresh air even though it was a pretty cold night in Tokyo.
Given that most toilets in Japan are so hi tech, the one in the apartment is pretty basic. Same goes for the hot and cold shower which was unreliable as well. We also had problem with water heater not turning on despite repeated attempts on our 2nd night(which the owner very helpfully assisted in making it work very late in the night). The owner also has a nice printed guide in the apartment with lots of information of the area, Japanese language phrases to help foreigners communicate etc.
Unfortunately, all that got negated by having a space which was very different from the description in the listing and not suitable for families at all.

Gorgeous apartment in the heart of Shimo-kitazawa with exceptional service and the friendliest host! Less than 5 minutes from the station, great location, great surroundings, stylish loft, great service. Absolutely recommend!

The loft was amazingly easy to live in, located in a very lively area, everything from amenities to neighboring restaurants, were very convenient! In addition, the host's consistency in his support throughout the stay (regarding facility questions and flexibility in check-in/out) were exceedingly prompt and made us feel very safe and comfortable.
Detergent ran out after 1 wash but otherwise everything was more than great!
