The meals were great and staff were very attentive. My family greatly enjoyed our stay. A special thanks to Waruna!
We also loved the massages by Sureshika!

everything is perfect, very nice experience. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. the food is nice and the chef is a pro.

Great Hotel. Particularly happy with the service provided by Sampath. Amazing manager.
Hotel is really peaceful and well equipped. Tent are nice and provides a great experience.
Food was good also in the restaurant.
Great place to stay if you want to do the safari around.
Minor thing to take into consideration. We had some loud music from the town or the hotel around. Stops at 10 pm. A bit annoying when you need to wake up early for the safari the next day.
Nothing bad just worth mentioning.

The property is set in a picturesque location by a lake and with mountains in the distance. Our tent was clean and comfortable, though not particularly spacious. Dinner and breakfast were fine. Staff were friendly.
At times we felt like the staff weren't around when we needed them. In the morning there was a celebration for the New Year which involved traditional food and games. We didn't want to take part because we were leaving that morning (needing a quick breakfast!) and it was also all happening outside in 38 degrees. It felt like the staff really couldn't take no for an answer when we asked just to have a normal breakfast in the main restaurant - they agreed in the end but it was a very odd situation.

really friendly staff!! they went extra mile for our kid’s birthday, made a super special surprise with the cake and baloons. The tent was also really good, all the facilities you need were there. Such a peaceful atmosphere, we didn’t want to leave. Definitely will come back!

Beautiful and serene. Amazing manager.
Bit understaffed, could also be better lit up

The room was amazing, best breakfast during my trip in Sri Lanka. if you like nature you must spend a night here. monkeys and lot of birds woke us up at the morning.
The only negative note was the staff. In the evening the reception was good but in the morning we had a problem. We had to leave the hotel at 10:00 o clock and the staff at 09:50 were outside our tent waiting for us to leave. We asked them to wait 5 more minutes but they were in a hurry to get us out. we were very sorry about that!

The eco lodges were lovely, the surroundings and landscape was beautiful. So relaxing and quiet. The staff were so attentive, nothing was a problem and i was so impressed with Sampath, he was just a super star. We felt so looked after throughout our stay. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely return.
Nothing. Enjoyed it all.

The positives: set on a stunning lake, looking out across the water to the mountains in the distance, the sounds of the birds and the wind in the trees is sublime. The pool is great. The tents are nice, with some issues. People have mentioned noise from the road but we didn’t find it objectionable. Most of the staff is charming, kind and concerned about the experience. We did 2 safaris, organised with Flamingo, both excellent. The Sri Lankan curry is fantastic, but the breakfast is forgettable, many other menu options unavailable.
Overall the property feels a bit neglected. The tent is quite small (queen beds not king), cramped and over stuffed with furniture. The electrical outlets on pillars don’t function. There were plumbing issues. Outside are two worn out bean bags, saturated with monkey urine, putting off a nasty odor. The deck had puddles of monkey urine which no one saw fit to mop up. One design flaw is the air con box, much too big for the space, is set right next to the bed with bright operating lights, it’s nearly impossible to sleep comfortably with it on or off. The floor fan doesn’t combat the humidity. Housekeeping was uneven and incomplete.
My sports watch was taken from the tent during a time when there were no other guests on site.
The massages were mostly good, but someone needs to educate the young man on cultural norms and appropriate conduct. It’s not appropriate to order a female client to undress and then stand and watch while she does, nor to touch a woman’s groin or other private areas. It would be best to provide more than a small towel for her to cover herself during the service, and to leave the room afterward so she can dress in private.
The biggest negative is the indiscriminate development on the lake that impacts the experience. Party music from properties across the lake reverbs across the water. The Hilton, set cheek-by-jowl with Flameback since 2020 is a real problem (I suspect the glowing reviews were pre-Hilton). Owned by a local tea plantation mogul under the Hilton brand, the hotel is designed so the reception/restaurant/party pavilion is less than 100 feet from your tent. We were informed by a formal card that there would be a “community event” that would impact our sleep. The Hilton event in question was loud partying and drunken karaoke until 4am. The permanent nature of the card indicates that this a regular occurrence.

The team at flameback were pretty amazing especially Sampath and Varun, they took of every need we had. The property is very well maintained with all the facilities. Only improvement suggested is better lighting in the room as it was pretty low lit.

The environment with animals and lake is really enrich my stay experience. We enjoy the meal with lots of fruits combination and the food quality is really high in here. The staffs are really nice and helpful in here, they support us for everything and try to meet all of our requests. One of the unforgettable memory in here was, there was monkey try to open my room tent entrance, I love this experience which make me feel like I'm living in jungle. That's was really great stay and I will miss this place a lot.

Amazing nature, lovely glamping style with a lot of ❤️ put into it, proximity to Yala National park and especially the staff and guides 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️ So lovely and knowledgable 🙏🏻

Very beautiful place, nice staff, good service, honeymoon tent suite it self is an experience.
If I had to think something critical, I would say that food menu could be a little exciting/innovative.
4.5
Great Glamping experience, great service and nice team. Special thanks to Sampath and entire service team who have arranged everything for us. And to Chaminda, our Safari guide and our driver, who managed it to show us two Leopards and many other animals during the Safari that we have booked via Flameback Eco Lodge. Moreover we recommend the traditional cooking experience with a Sri Lankan Gilde chief cook and team.
Like in most of the places in Sri Lanka the wine list is nothing for wine enthusiasts. And for coffee fanatics a good coffee machine would be nice. But this is „complaining“ on a embarrassing and maybe ridiculous level. So sorry for that 😄

Staff were fantastic - looking after everything we needed. Very attentive and caring. We stayed in the Honeymoon suite and it was absolutely amazing - incredibly comfortable and clean, the pictures online do not do how lovely this place is any justice, it is very beautiful.

Its safe to say Flameback Eco Lodge made our entire stay at Sri Lanka the most memorable and amazing experience. the room, the whole atmosphere, the food, the staff, you just can’t find any problems at this place. the hotel is located in a spectacular area with a lot of green and a huge lake right beside you. you wake up in the morning to either the monkeys running around or to the beautiful sound of the nature and birds. and at one point during the day, you might encounter of buffaloes casually eating grass next to your room.
special thanks to the assistant manager of the hotel (Sampath) who made our stay at the hotel even more amazing. you could literally as the guy about any requests and he’s gonna make sure you get it.

We had a great time, thanks to the team’s care and exceptional service.

I don’t even know where to start! This is such an awesome place to stay. The lodge is very comfortable and I didn’t even know a „tent“ can look so beautiful inside! It has everything you need.
The lodges are right in front of a beautiful lake from where you can see a beautiful sunrise (if you getvuo early of course).
The staff went above and beyond to make this stay so wonderful. The even arranged a traditional Sinhalese/Tamil new years celebration with delicious food and funny games. It was such a wonderful experience. The food was extraordinary and SamPath and all the other staff members are a 10 out of 10! We were also able to book a safari with Flameback and I think they offer a lot more excursions (we only stayed 2 nights that’s why we only booked a safari) I highly recommend this place
can’t say anything negative about this olace

everything was just perfect. we stayed in the largest camp which has its own plunge pool and a big living space. the location is gorgeous and the place is managed very well by Prashant. amazing food options and great ambience. so much to do there plus proximity to the safari parks is an added advantage
absolutely nothing

This stay was a unique experience as it was permanent tent structures with tastefully decorated rooms. Your room key is for a padlock so something different. The customer service from Prashath was second to none, he is very tuned on to everything that is going on at the eco village, you really felt like you were getting that 5 star service. We did a cooking lesson, went on a safari and had a couples massage which he organised for us. The food onsite was really good and they had a nice wine selection also. You really do get a lot for your money.
There was a music festival close by one night but apparently this only happens once a year and is completely out of the control of the property.

Love the room and location of the hotel. Prashant was very helpful and attentive.
Spa experience was not that pleasant.

The location was incredible. Staff were more than accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing! Our private honeymoon tent was so special, isolated away from the other tents/rooms, with a gorgeous view over the lake.
Nothing, it was simply perfection.

Staff are very helpful, hotel provides alot of activities if required although you would be paying a premium to match the service.
if your a bird watcher its a good place to stay for sure
If you are into tent experience at premium price, might be your thing

this was glamping at its best. The high end tents (similar to what you would have on an African safari) are situated near the shore of the lake. The tents are nicely appointed and have all the necessary modern amenities. the dining pavilion is located the 2nd floor of the main lodge with views out over the lake. it has a lovely well maintained swimming pool. the property is set back from the road and has lots of open space and good birding opportunities.
no complaints!

The property is situated in an idylic location.
The personnel is the friendliest that I have ever met. The services: organizing safaris and other activities, food around the day was really the best that I got in Sri Lanka.
One of the few accommodations which I would really recommend!

The staff was amazing and did their best to welcome us.
We had a nice gesture for our honeymoon (on the bed and a special cake). Thank you so much !
The food is very good, the breakfast amazing. We spent an amazing time for NYE.
I would highly recommend this place !
The only thing we could tell but the manager knows about it this is the noise of the road you can hear when you have the honeymoon tent. This is really a shame but again the lodge is aware and working on it.

Everything! This place exceeded our expectations. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Mr Prashath made sure we had everything we needed, helped us with arranging our safari, meals and way to the next place. The service in the restaurant was exceptional, super fast and everything was very tasty, compliments to the chef. The waiters were very fast, friendly and polite.
If you want the full experience book the safari through the hotel, they will make sure you have a great day. Our ranger Jamil and the driver made that day perfect. We saw lots of elephants, 2 leopards, an eagle, crocodile, monkeys, slot bear, lizards, lots of rare birds and many more.
Highly recommend staying here! You are not gonna regret it ;)
Everything was perfect!

Clean, comfy and amazing facilities - is truly a luxury glamping experience. Great attention to detail and they had thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. Great pool to cool off in with beautiful views of the lake and birds. Exceptional service and the staff were very attentive and also the food was very tasty. Would definitely recommend and especially if you want to go on safari as they organise it all for you and provide snacks.
