We had a great week. The house is very comfortable. The hosts were very attentive. The Surrounding area is beautiful.
Seeing the cove drain out at low tide took a little getting used to but at high tide we saw the seal. Nearby hikes were amazing. We did them at all tides and all weather.

The cottage is adorable and is situated in a beautiful, peaceful location. It is super quiet with no interference from neighbors or traffic. Unfortunately, the cottage was not quite as clean as we are accustomed to. The appliances needed a good wiping, the shower was a little “hairy” and the bathroom had a faint urine smell, maybe from the floor around it? We kept the window open which helped. There was perishable food (open containers of yogurt, cream cheese & ice cream) left in the freezer & refrigerator, some of which we threw away. I respect the fact that each person is supposed to think about the next when leaving, but ultimately the housekeeping responsibilities fall to the property owner or manager. All this being said, after a little cleaning of our own, we did have a wonderful week and enjoyed the quiet moments with our granddaughter. Although uncomfortable to write, this is an honest review provided only to improve the experience for the next person.

We had a wonderful time at Pyne Cove Cottage. The cottage was clean, beautiful and peaceful. When we weren't out on adventures, we cooked, made a fire and relaxed in the blissful setting. We loved the nearby hikes and restaurants. Can't recommend enough.

Two weeks wasn’t enough! We loved the cottage and the property and the energy of the whole space. Our dog was adamant about staying but alas, we hope to visit again. Thanks for a much needed respite in beautiful Maine.

The cabin was just as it was portrayed and very clean and comfortable. The hosts were very communicative and helpful regarding local activities and hikes. My wife and I have been coming to Schoodic and the surrounding area since we were in our 20s (now in our 60s) and it brought back great memories to stay here. Great property and great area with lots to do within 20 minutes.

What a wonderful place to stay. We loved this cottage and could tell that the owners put a lot of love into it. It is a spectacular home in a very private location. Close to nature and all the owners recommendations for hikes and places to visit were spot on. Great communication with the owners. They were very quick to respond to any questions we had. Would love to stay here again in the future.

This was a clean, comfortable cabin on a beautiful tidal cove. It was very private, but only a few minutes from a town. One rainy evening it got quite chilly, but the heated floors warmed us up nicely. The combination of modern conveniences and coastal privacy in the woods make this one of the best rentals we've been lucky enough to find.

Cottage met all of our criteria and owners made it all the better with the gift bag and thoughtful phone call. Property was clean, quiet, private and the perfect spot for my wife, dog and I to explore the beautiful coast of Maine. The Hollingsworth Trail at Petit Manan down the street was beautiful as well as all the other outdoor sights from Acadia to the small parks and shops. Well worth a trip to Chipman’s Wharf for a lobster roll or other seafood delights including some to bring home to cook. All in all we the cottage was just as listed , exceeding our expectations and hope to be back soon.

Cottage is in a great location!! An hour in either direction and so many towns, trails, sites and activities to do. And of course, Acadia National Park. At the end of the day it was nice to go back to cottage which is in a quiet waterfront cove.
Hosts Michael and Sheila are very responsive and easy to communicate with. The cottage is so well taken care of and nice little touches that make it cozy and comfortable. We will definitely try to stay here again.

Private, secluded from the road, nestled in an abundance of firs and vegetation. Beautiful place with great view of the sea water cove. Beds are very comfortable, house is well furnished, nicely decorated, and very clean. We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

The property is even nicer than it looks in the pictures! Our family of four was very comfortable here and found plenty to do without heading to Bar Harbor/Mount Desert Island once! The owners were quick in responding to inquiries leading up to our stay. We had a great week!

We were welcomed with a gift bag containing coffee and blueberry jam, a host of helpful information and a clean well appointed cabin tucked in the woods and overlooking the water. Michael was very helpful and responsive to our questions. While the weather was less than perfect, we managed to take some wonderful hikes on trails right down the road!! The cabin is very comfortable and welcoming. Thanks for a great stay!

My husband and I and Alfie, our 9-month old golden retriever pup, thoroughly enjoyed our five-day stay in Michael and Sheila’s lovely Pyne Cove Cottage. So comfortably furnished and lacking nothing in household equipment, it was a wonderful Downeast retreat in quiet, laid-back Steuben. Waking up to a beautiful view of the cove through the pine trees set the tone for explorations of Petit Manon Wildlife Preserve, Schoodic Peninsula (still our favorite Downeast location), Eastport, Jasper Beach, community garden in Millbridge, and more. Favorite places for food: Chipman’s Wharf for lobsters (cooked for us to bring home) and steamers, Lunch on the Wharf in Corea, the food truck in Millbridge, and J.M. Gerrish for great breakfast and lunch in Winter Harbor. For anyone looking for an off-the-beaten path yet accessible to all of the attractions of Downeast (including Acadia if you’re not deterred by the crowds) location, we highly recommend Pyne Cove Cottage. Thanks, Sheila and Michael for our memorable stay there.

We enjoyed our stay in Maine. The cottage has beautil surroundings, secluded, warm, comfortable and had all the amenities necessary for our week stay. The owners are responsive to questions & even called to see how we were doing & if we needed anything. We also loved that they are pet friendly & so is much of the area. You are 1 hour away from Bar Harbor, but there is so much to do in the Steuben area & hiking trails here are quiet & just as beautiful as Bar Harbor side of Acadia. Milbridge is not even 10 mins away with little gift shop, pharmacy, grocery shopping ,Community garden is beautiful & Lobster food truck with the best lobster rolls at a reasonable price. We just love downeast Maine & hoping to return again.

As advertised, the cabin was fully stocked and very comfortable. The recommended hiking trails and beach in the area from the cottage were great for us - the hikes had astonishing views and the wild blueberries were ready for the picking. Can’t say enough about those scenic Atlantic views! Favs Schoodic Point and Grindstone. Thank you so much for our pleasant stay.

Sweet retreat
This cottage was spacious and in a peaceful location. All the furniture was super comfy and the different rooms were all very well planned and well oriented. The outside had a little grass landing to play outdoor games. The firepit and the view from the front door was lovely. Everyone in the family including our pup enjoyed staying there very much.

Comfortable and convenient
We stayed at the Pyne Cove cottage for a week. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The info provided at the house as full of good tips. The house was well provisioned and comfortable. Great beds! Ray Carbone the sculptor was a great find! The cove is tidal so pretty much inaccessible to kayaks or swimming if the tide isn’t high. There is another water access point close by, but we just did more hiking. The Sunrise on Pigeon hill is spectacular!

Perfect week away
This was a wonderful place to stay. A lot of thought went into the design and furnishings of the house itself and the outdoor spaces. Between swimming in the cove and running around in the woods our dog had the best week of his life! The immediate area is beautiful, multiple hikes on the peninsula without a soul around. For a rural area we were please to find multiple good dining options and a full-ish sized grocery store within 10 minutes. Getting to the Schoodic peninsula wasn't a long drive, we also made excursions to Mount Desert Island and Camopbello Island. We highly recommend!

Hidden Gem
This cottage was perfect in every way for our exploration of Acadia and Down East Maine! My husband and I took our twelve-year-old granddaughter to her choice of National Parks, and Acadia was the winnner!
The location of Pyne Cove Cottage enabled us to access Schoodic Peninsula as well as Bar Harbor and then retreat to our quiet cottage for an evening of movies, puzzles, lobster and s'mores. . . . the attention to every detail, the tasteful choices of decor, smartly edited for Down East flavor without the kitsch, the well-stocked spice drawer—and Pride and Prejudice film to boot (our granddaughter's favorite book!) It could not have been better! These are memories of a lifetime. We are so happy. . . . thank you, Michael!

Beautiful property, comfortable stay
Pyne Cove Cottage was perfect for us and exactly what we were looking for - a private, picturesque place on the water that was family and pet friendly. The cottage is beautiful, comfortable, and well-stocked with of all the essentials (and more). The cottage is tucked into a pine forest with a great view of the water from the front rooms. We brought our kayaks and enjoyed getting out on the water as the tide came in; we were thrilled to see bald eagles flying overhead. Milbridge was a quick 10 minute drive, where we found groceries, seafood, a gift shop and a beautiful community garden. The hiking trail and beach just a few minutes down the road from the cottage were great for us - the hike had amazing views at the top and wild blueberries, ready for the picking. Beautiful Schoodic Point is also just a short ~ 20 minute drive away. All in all, we throughly enjoyed our stay - a truly recharging time.
Our thanks to the hosts, Mike and Sheila for being so kind, helpful, and accommodating. It was very easy to communicate with them and they offered great recommendations that made our stay extra enjoyable.

Clean, quiet cabin.
The cabin was as-advertised and beautiful. It had everything we needed for our stay. It was extremely quiet at night and a nice retreat away. It was a little over an hour drive to Acadia National Park, but there is a lot to do at the cabin, as well as hiking in Petit Manan. It is also a short drive to the Schoodic Peninsula. We really enjoyed our trip and the cabin was exactly what we were looking for.

Otherworldly
Michael and Sheila are wonderful hosts, and their exquisite cottage made for one of our best family vacations. My wife and I spent a week with our seven-year-old and two-year-old. The 3 acre property offers a nice slice of down east scenery, and the cottage is a delightful, comfortable place to spend time—it is clear a lot of thought went into it, and everything is high quality. We had a wonderful time in spite of the less-than-ideal weather (it rained more often than not during our stay). We made several day trips to Acadia National Park (about an hour drive to Bar Harbor, but only about 25 minutes to the quieter Schoodic side of the park). One day we took the ferry from Winter Harbor into Bar Harbor. While Acadia is famous for a reason, we were pleasantly surprised by the gems within a couple miles of the cottage. A couple miles up Pigeon Hill road lies some outstanding hiking trails, which we had more or less to ourselves. The Schoodic peninsula offers much of the legendary Acadia scenery without the crowds. We were impressed by the food options in this relatively remote corner of the world (The Meadows, just a mile or so up the Road; Vasquez Mexican Food, the Pickled Wrinkle near Schoodic, and the outstanding fresh seafood from Chipman’s, which we cooked in the well-provisioned kitchen). We were also delighted to find a community vegetable garden in nearby Millbridge. We were truly sad to leave at the end of the week and look forward to returning.

Perfect getaway
This property is magical! When you step out of the car you are greeted by the smell of pine and a water view. The cabin and property are even better in person than in the pictures. Due to the pandemic we had to push our visit back a year and it was well worth the wait- the property owners were super flexible and understanding.
The location is a perfect mix of quiet relaxation and plenty to do nearby. We visited Acadia, found a local winery, cooked fresh sea food, traveled north to Lubec, and read in the hammock by the cove. This is the best rental I’ve ever experienced.

Welcoming Home in Steuben, ME
The home was exactly as advertised, and we had a great week exploring the town and the region. First, the house. On the ground floor: There are two bedrooms, a large family room, full bathroom, kitchen, and screened-in porch. There is a large loft area one flight up, where there are plenty of seats and a television. The grounds are private and you are right on the water. You can somewhat see another home, but it's fairly far off and through the trees. The driveway is gravel and easy for any type of car to navigate.
Second, the region. The house is just up the street from a couple of terrific hiking paths, and we hiked them multiple times during our stay. They are dog-friendly, which is a plus. The house is also a short drive to the Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia. This portion of the park is much less crowded, and the views/trails are great. In addition, you are only about 8-10 minutes away from a large grocery store and a few restaurants in Milbridge. It makes things so much easier when you don't have to drive 40 miles to grab something to eat.
Overall, I would recommend this house to anyone looking to get away and explore the region.

The attention to detail is exceptional in this cottage. The decor is inviting, kitchen is well stocked, furniture is comfortable, out door space is fun (we enjoyed the hammock). It was a comfortable space for 5 adults. The owners were available for any questions.

Relaxation and Comfort
We had a great time at the cottage. Everything is supplied and there was plenty of room for our 5 people. I also appreciated the gift of local blueberry jam that we enjoyed on thick slices of toast in the morning. Thank you Michael and Sheila for allowing us to stay in your home.

Pyne Cove Cottage was a great place to unwind and relax.
The Cottage was warm and inviting and included pretty much everything we needed to enjoy our week's stay. After a bit of an issue checking in the remainder of our stay was great. Close enough to Acadia and Bar Harbor, yet far enough away to be out of the mainstream traffic. Sitting around the campfire and star gazing was a highlight as well as our last night dinner of a lobster, steamer, sausage and corn boil. Yum!

Charming Cabin
Really enjoyed our stay at Pyne Cove Cottage. Very peaceful setting yet close to some great hiking and beautiful scenery. The little town close by ( Milbridge ) was so convenient and had everything we needed to stock up for our stay. The people there were so friendly too. We were traveling with our dogs and they couldn’t have had a better time.

Perfect House, Fantastic Homeowners
I found this cottage online on a Friday, and contacted the homeowners right away. I needed a place the very next day as I had just lost my house to fire. Mike could not have been any nicer, or more accommodating. With one days notice he managed to adjust things, rearrange housekeeping, and make exceptions for my needs so that I had a place to stay. He was wonderful.
The cottage.... it is a beautiful house and the location was perfect. I am lucky enough to live in Maine, so I wasn’t looking for a vacation, I needed somewhere to rest, destress, and pull myself back together after the fire. This was just the cottage. It is thoughtfully decorated, you can tell they take pride in the house. Exceptionally clean, has everything you could need, and quite possibly two of the most comfortable couches I have ever sat on! There are throw blankets in every room which was a lovely touch. The bed was also great and I was able to catch up on much needed sleep. TV has the Netflix/Amazon option which I hadn’t seen before, it gave me a chance to watch some cool documentaries, and just relax. I also rediscovered my love for movies as they have a great DVD collection. They provide TONS of useful information about the area. There is a binder filled with things, that even as a local, I didn’t know about. And everything in the binder is up to date which was impressive.
When I first walked up to the cottage, there were gorgeous flowers blooming in two flower beds, the house is surrounded by trees and is truly secluded. There was a fire pit, a path to the water, and two hammocks. Very picturesque.
The best part of my stay had to be the homeowners though. They were always available, and even checked in on me, which I really appreciated. There were many special touches when I arrived, Mike & Sheila have made the cottage very welcoming. They have a great attention to detail, and are a total pleasure to deal with. I hope to come back under happier circumstances so I can really enjoy all that Pyne Cove has to offer.
Thank you for a wonderful week,
Nicole

Beautiful cabin in coastal Down East Maine!
Out of all the listings we chose Pyne Cove Cabin to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We loved the secluded cozy setting near the water. The listing description and pictures are 100% accurate. Mike and Sheila were great hosts, and were always quick to respond if we had any questions.
The cabin interior is tastefully decorated, warm, inviting, and is outfitted with all the conveniences. Outside, there was plenty of room to let our dog "Malakai" run and play. Sitting by the fire pit while looking up at the night sky, there were more stars than we than we would ever see back home. We could even see the Milky Way!
There is so much to do within 15-30 minutes of the their cabin. Petit Manon has several beautiful hiking trails out to the water and rocky shoreline. A short hike up Pigeon Hill provided almost 300 degree stunning views. Scoodic Point (part of Acadia) is just an awesone place to spend a day and explore. Plus, no crowds. We were there during the first week of October and had much of the area to ourselves. Many small quaint fishing villages are tucked along the Down East coast. Shopping in Bar Harbor and exploring Acadia National Park are only 45-50 minutes away.
"Thank you", Mike and Sheila, for sharing your slice of heaven. We hope to return someday.

Wonderful stay in the woods on the water
We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at Payne Cove Cabin. Wonderful location in a wooded, quiet setting overlooking a tidal cove. Cabin is well furnished, comfortable and up to date. The owners are good to work with and checked in with us during our stay. We definitely plan to return when next in Maine.
