About North Captiva Island
The beautiful, pristine island of North Captiva is a private island with only 300 homes. The island has no cars, and the only modes of transport are golf carts, and bikes which is something we are quite proud of. Most of all, the island is an incredible sanctuary to wildlife providing guests with regular sightings of dolphins, manatees, gopher tortoises and tons of birds. Sun, sand and seashells are also bountiful. For dining out we recommend Mangoes and making a booking at Over the Water Restaurant. Ask us about Private Chef options also!
How do you get here?
North Captiva Island is easily accessible with a 20 min ferry ride from the mainland. We recommend booking with Island Girl Charters which departs several times a day from Pineland Marina. Private charters are also available.
If you are flying in; closest airport is Fort Myers International (RSW)
Pls Note: Due to VRBO system limitations, the "Cleaning Fee" covers more than just the thorough cleaning of the property after your departure. This fee includes toiletries for your party. Pick up at the dock and transportation of your party and luggage upon arrival to North Captiva. Drop off at the dock / luggage assistance on your check out day.

We had a smooth arrival and the most beautiful, cozy home with every amenity we could ever want. We will be coming back as soon as possible! 💙

Just returned from Casa Del Sol and can’t wait to return. Family of 7, had the most relaxing and beautiful time. Owner and property management responsive, kind and professional.

The house was extremely comfortable for our family vacation. The pictures on-line matched the actual experience. Access to the pool club and use of the golf carts made for a fun time for all!!

Completely remodeled interior was clean and well decorated. Large family of 11 and still allowed kids to have their own bed. Great location close to the beach and an easy walk to Mangos. Nice to have the heated pool as an option. Kitchen was well equipped and grocery delivery was super convenient.

Magical Vacation
Our 2 families stayed for a week in paradise. Communication/interaction with Tortuga Property Rental was easy breezy. They were very quick to respond to their texting phone number. The house was just what we needed. Perfect location from gorgeous beach- the golf carts made it easy to load up people/beach gear. Definitely need to keep the golf carts plugged in when not in use. One was a little less energetic. But we used both with no major issues and had a blast buzzing around the island on them! The house has everything you could possibly need for a wonderful stay. We were so happy to have the pool. It's partially shaded which was perfect when we were cooked from the beach but still wanted to relax outside. Sunsets from roof are AMAZING. Tons of board games to play- never found the Xbox which was disappointing for kids but I'm not complaining- less screen time;) We used Tortuga Property rental grocery and seafood ordering services- very smooth and easy process. Fresh seafood was delicious! I think it would be hard to not have a great time on the island no matter what but we were very happy with out stay at Casa Del Sol!

If you don’t stay here, you’re missing out!
My husband and I came to the island for the first time in September of 2020- and we fell in love with it. We decided to bring our parents and our kids back this trip so we needed a much bigger house! We found Casa del Sol and decided this was the place for us! We started the week off with minor hiccups but nothing that the owner didn’t immediately handle (or do the best he could!) to help make our stay amazing. The house was the perfect size and was well equipped with everything we needed! Sunsets were beautiful from the roof and it was just a short walk or an even shorter golf cart ride to the water. If you’re looking for a place to stay… we definitely recommended this one! Thanks Maikel for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Family Island Paradise
Property was perfectly located to access all features of the island quickly. Kids enjoyed the pool every spare moment of the trip. Roof top balcony made for amazing sunsets. From booking to checkout, everything was seamless.

A group of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The home is beautiful and in a great location. This is definitely a trip off the beaten path, but we enjoyed some “island time” and it was well worth the trek.
We had one golf cart that had some old batteries, but it ended up getting us where we needed to go.
We had all the towels a group of 12 could use.
The pool was awesome.
The internet/ phone service was unreliable, but we barely noticed and were able to unplug a bit.
We would definitely recommend!

Amazing Vacation
The vacation was wonderful. North Captiva is such a unique and beautiful place to vacation. The house was very nice and the owner and property managers were wonderful. The only complaint we had was that we eventually had to leave. :-)
A few tips, the island is very laid back. No need for fancy clothes, in fact the kids didn’t have shoes on their feet for a whole week. Avoid the restaurants during the day on weekends, seems to be a lot more people and restaurants very busy on weekend. The NCIC pool area is fine, but nothing special, the house pool is nice but shaded a lot during the day, so our recommendation is the beach with a little pool time. And rent a boat for a day it was amazing!! We saw so many dolphins right up by our boat.
If you are considering this vacation we say DO IT! The island it’s quiet, no cars was such a nice break from the hustle, the beaches were NOT overcrowded. It was an amazing week of relaxing and disconnecting from the world a bit.

Maikel was very attentive and always responded with any questions or needs I had.
The place was great! It was the island life I have been wanting to experience. We had a great time.

One reason I chose this particular VRBO was due to the owner, Maikel, being willing to talk to me and answer some of my initial questions before signing on. Maikel, was very accommodating and promptly answered all questions I had throughout my week’s stay.
I had reserved this place for nine family members but due to Covid only five of us made it. The other four included a three- and five-year-old. We had planned for them to reside in the bunk room and when we discovered the spiral stairs they’d have to traverse, we kept wondering how they would have done going up and down them.
Being on an island without a grocery store takes a lot of planning to include shuttling us from the airport to the ferry station, the ferry ride, and the golf cart trip to the house.
The Tortuga management team and VRBO owners provided great tips and assistance on how to accommodate the whole trip. Follow their tips and you’ll do ok. ‘Tortuga’ was timely on meeting us and taking us back to the ferry. They were very responsive to our needs as well. For groceries, we used Debbie @ Fresh Pick Grocery service and that turned out to be a great choice.
We were there for the beach and that far exceeded our expectations given the width, length, and billions of shells. But focusing on the accommodations, what we really liked was the pool, the golf carts, the close walking distance to the beach, and the club facilities (primarily the fat tire bikes). We also liked the beach chairs, game equipment, and the propane grill provided. We had some concerns knowing there were only two bathrooms, but it turned out they where very accessible and even our original party of nine would have been ok.
The only appliance that gave us problems was the dryer which took a long time to dry clothes. The Tortuga team mentioned that this was due to be replaced.
We had a junior high student in our party and she was required to spend a couple of hours a day on homework which required internet access. We didn’t expect fast internet speeds but also didn’t expect the very slow speeds and lack of coverage either. If we had to use the internet to download a lot of data, it was best to go to the roof top deck and use our cellular data vs the wi-fi provided in the house. When doing so, it was plenty fast.
We never go to the same place twice but if we were to do so, we’d use this VRBO again.

Great location. Nice house and pool. Our party enjoyed Casa Del Sol very much. Excellent beach chairs and amenities, good kitchen and utensils.

Always worth the travel!
North Captiva Island is an absolute gem, and worth the planes-trains-automobiles adventure to get there. Claire & Maikel have done a great job outfitting their home to compliment the island paradise, and were incredibly responsive to the needs that did arise while we were there. We had a lovely Thanksgiving week, and will certainly be planning our next NCI trip soon.

North Captiva Isla d getaway
We had the best time at this property. I have stayed at many vacation rentals and can vouche that they were amazing when it came to giving us concierge services. The best service as of yet. This place is on a private island and the vive was so cool. You really feel disconnected. The place was fully stocked, had 2 golf carts to get around and was in walking distance to the beach. Plus it had beach chairs for everyone and we literally just sat and watched the waves. Sunrises from the rooftop and sunsets on the beach were perfect 10’s. We already want to go back!

Excellent stay at Casa Del Sol
Our group of 8 with 4 kids ages 5-8 had an unforgettable time. The house was clean and well appointed. The owner Maikel and his wife Claire were extremely responsive with any questions we had about the house or island. The management company Tortuga was also accommodating and provided great service. The house is private and has a crows nest that has an amazing view of the island and beach. The beach is very close and great for relaxing and gathering shells with the kids. We will be back for sure.
4.5
This house is perfectly nestled on the island within walking distance to the beach. The house was very clean upon arrival, there are plenty of beach towels (you will need them), the kitchen is fully equipped. We had a golf cart issue that was eventually resolved by the property owner who was overall very responsive and helpful. Tortuga was difficult to reach overall and less responsive to the golf cart issue than I would have expected or preferred. The beds were squeaky and the dryer did not dry well making getting the towels done before departure impossible. Tortuga was made aware of the dryer and stated they would work on it.
Pending the golf carts are in working condition as the property states this is an amazing place to rent. It is worth it to see the beautiful, calm, quiet, shell filled beaches Captiva has to offer.
We of course want to come back and would absolutely rent this property again.

La Casa Del Sol is a well-appointed house on North Captiva Island. Our crew consisted of 10 people, 4 adults and 6 children(ages 3-13). For the good, the kitchen is well stocked furnishings are nice and home is in decent condition. North Captiva Island is away from it all, the rooftop deck on La Casa Del Sol is amazing; sunsets and sunrises are beautiful! The pool was a must and our kids loved it after a day at the beach! The house has everything you need, beach chairs, umbrellas, games, poolside bar, cornhole, outdoor shower, etc. For the bad, there is an issue with the upstairs(envelope, HVAC, etc.). It's very muggy, damp and actually wet upstairs. The bunk room temperature was cool, but other bedroom upstairs was warm and both were oddly damp all the time. Downstairs, the HVAC would creep up in temperature during the hot of the day. Both golf carts need replacing. Upon arrival on Sunday, one broke down and had to be towed. The same cart broke down again Monday and the other cart was intermittently breaking down and working. We repaired one on Tuesday and then by Wednesday both were picked up and fixed and owner treated us to dinner at Mainstays(Barnacles) for our time. We attempted to rent an extra cart, as did the owner and none were available on the island. For the....Tortuga management was less than par. They did have a representative in TN that was responsive, but otherwise we would send texts and get replies, but no communication or follow up. We contacted the owner(based on some passed reviews that mentioned this same issue) and worked through them. Our grocery ordered was not picked up(at least not 75%) of it. When we arrived, about 25% of our food was there(no cold stuff). I called Publix directly and from what I heard, the Tortuga representative only picked up the non-perishable groceries.Cold food was delivered around 10am Monday. With no grocery store options available, we purchased 7-8 items for $40+ at Mangos to get milk and try to get us by for breakfast. In the end, it was a rough start to the week, but by Wednesday we had settled in with working golf carts and could enjoy all that North Captiva Island had to offer. We can see the appeal, but would necommend properties managed by Tortuga. Wildlife is abundant, including ospreys, manatees, dolphins, snakes, tortoises, etc. Beware, mosquitos are abundant too(bring plenty of bug spray)!!!Shell collecting was fun, we found sand dollars and conch shells galore!

My family of 12 had an amazing stay at Captiva. We truly enjoyed La Casa Del Sol and it was spacious enough for everyone. The location is fantastic as it's only steps away from the beach and it's close to the club pool and bar. Overall, the house was beautiful, had great views, and was really cute.
I was a little concerned about logistics but the owner provided tons of information that made getting to the island, grocery shopping, and getting around simple. I also would encourage joining the Captiva Island Visitor Facebook page for more tips.
The owner also quickly responded to an issue we had, which was nice to have. The management company on the other hand was difficult to work with, not responsive, and created a little stress.
Overall, our North Captiva vacation was one of the best vacations we have ever been on!

This place does not reflect it summary. The property is poorly maintained. The house wasn’t clean when we arrived . We had to finish the family that stayed before us laundry and wipe down all surfaces . The furniture and appliances were broken . The pool was dirty and who knows the last time it had been shocked. The golf carts were broke down the entire time we were there. To top it off the house was infested with cockroaches . When I told the owner and asked for a partial refund he told me “there will be no refunds”. Definitely was the worst we have stayed in

We loved the house and I wish I could give it 5 stars but there were some difficulties. First: the house is lovely with lots of room for 12 people to spread out. Although there were just 2 bathrooms it wasn't a problem because we didn't have to dress up and go anywhere. The pool was nice and sunny with tons of pool toys. Lots of towels. The problems were with Tortuga Rental Management. There were no washcloths or shower gel. We complained And it was never resolved. And really, 4 rolls of toilet paper? We ended up buying it at the store for $3.50 a roll. When we arrived, there was only 1 golf cart and it was not parked on the ramp so it could be charged which didn't really matter because the battery cable was broken. We called Tortuga and were told they would be there "shortly". Anyway, the first 3 days we had no golf cart. Finally, they repaired the cart and after another after a not so nice text to them they brought the promised 2nd cart. I really don't enjoy giving a bad review but that's just how it was. I would love to rent there again but would not consider it through Tortuga.

Property Management Company is Terrible!
When we arrived, there was only one golf cart and the listing stated we would have two. We had a party of seven, including my elderly parents and three children. The property manager, Duncan, would not reply via text or return phone calls. After multiple times of asking Duncan about the golf cart and him telling us he would get us a loaner...he ghosted again. We did not get the golf cart in the morning as promised. We went out searching for him. We ran into one of his employees who gave us a loaner with a sketchy battery (He was so kind, not his fault). Not having two golf carts for three days put a noticeable dent in our vacation because we couldn’t go anywhere as a family.
The pool was green for two days.
Captiva Island is gorgeous and we will definitely be back! Although next time, we won’t be renting from Tortuga Properties. Duncan has no communication skills and couldn’t care less about whether or not you are enjoying your trip. He literally didn’t answer a dozen or more texts and wouldn’t answer the phone...not to mention how his voicemail was always FULL. I guess we were not the only ones trying to reach him...
Summary: The house was beautiful and location is great, North Captiva is a dream! I would be mindful of who will be “managing” your vacation. Beware of Duncan!!

Idyllic island getaway - soooooo relaxing!
This is a lovely home with plenty of space for 3 adults and 2 teens. The location is amazing and the island is so pristine. If you want to slow down and get away from it all! THIS is the place. The Casa Del Sol property and owners are incredible. It's all you could ask for. Just be prepared for a few reasonable logistical challenges with getting on and off the island - but it's worth it for the beauty, peace and serenity of the locale!

Look no further for the best time ever!
Beautiful house and surrounding property. Was more like being in the Caribbean than Florida. Exactly what we needed after this long pandemic year. It was the perfect space for our 2 families (4 adults, 5 teenagers and an 8year old). The kids adored the bunk room! It was a great island to balance all of us being together and the kids having some freedom! The house is steps from the beach and a short walk to the North Captiva Island Pool. A challenge to pick our favorite spot...beautiful beaches, house pool with tiki bar, rooftop sunsets/sunrise, morning coffee on the front porch, this house is everything as described in the photos and more. Great decor, clean, everything you might need in the kitchen, new Tommy Bahama beach chairs, pool and beach toys. The property manager was fun, helpful and addressed all our needs. The island staff at the pool club and restaurants were exceptional. We saw several turtles on the island, dolphins, manatees, and interesting birds. We rented a boat and took a trip to Captiva for the day for lunch.
Don't be concerned about the ferry ride (30-40 min) and bringing groceries...this was the easiest part! It only added to the uniqueness of the trip! Fabulous house and great island life experience.

AMAZING PLACE
We enjoyed every minute of it. Property management was very responsive and helpful. The house was well stocked with everything and super clean!!! Loved that the island was golf cart only. I would highly recommend getting groceries before hand - takes the stress out of it all.

Terrific and relaxing spring break
The home is beautiful! The pool was so nice...the weather was a little chilly to,swim, but the area was well shaded. The kitchen is very well stocked and the supply of beach towels was much appreciated. We really enjoyed our stay.

Great house!
The property was nice and the location was great with just a short walk to the beach. The island is beautiful and a fantastic getaway. The property management was minimally responsive, beginning before our arrival, and throughout our stay, which caused a great deal of frustration on multiple occasions.

Perfect retreat!
We're a group of 3 families (6 adults & 5 12yo boys) from New England looking for a warm escape from the dreary cold and everyday routine of home. This house was perfect for us and had everything we needed. Yes, you need to take a ferry to the island and grocery shopping was a unique challenge since we're not local and had no car. So keep that in mind if you're flying into Ft. Meyers. The house was clean, checkin was a breeze, the owners & property managers are quick to respond, the bunk room for the boys was KEY and the roof top was incredible. The kids loved the pool and the freedom to play with no cars to worry about on the island. We fished all day and enjoyed the sunsets on the beach which was SO close by. Beyond pleased with our stay and you will be too!

Great family vacation
The house was great! Perfect location between the beach and the club pool. Short walk to both. Best beach for shells!!

Best kept secret during trying times
Captiva North is nothing short of a wonderful, secluded getaway. You have to take a ferry to the island, which in itself lends it to being a quiet, not crowded vacation. It was perfect to take a group of seniors that just graduated high school and are headed off to college. The house was ideal. Having our own outdoor pool was a game changer. I addition, the location of the house was ideal. You can get to everything so quickly with your golf cards. The island has a couple of restaurants, but we decided to stay home the entire time for dinners and not risk any public gatherings. We did go out for lunch a couple of times and of course for some ice cream runs. Access to the club is another bonus of staying at the house. For our group, the bunk beds in one room was a game changer. We also enjoyed sunsets every night from the amazing viewpoint at the top of the house- so unique and special. We can't say enough about the house or the owners or the management company. They were so understanding if we had to cancel due to any COVID issues in Florida and they were uber responsive to all of our needs. The management company was running a little short on staff, but they were working their tails off to make everyone happy. They truly cared that we had a wonderful experience. We pre-ordered our groceries, which seemed outrageous price-wise, but turns out it was totally worth it. We had a little mis-order and they make it right immediately. I am torn on sharing this paradise, but I want to support the owners an the management company- especially duing these COVID times. It was very safe, clean, and they care about their guests. In addition, the house is gorgeous!
