Felt very welcome in this small hostel. The bed's were comfortable and all the facilities were quite clean. It's very good value for money.
The female dorm was a bit crammed and there were no lockers for valuables.

Loved the beautiful space and garden. Our room was comfy. Fantastic feijoa and walnuts offered in the kitchen which was a lovely touch.
It would've been great to have had another shower area available and a separate toilet space for rooms outside main house.

Close to the River for walks. Beautiful old hotel .
Needed my own transport to navigate my way around . Looked closer on Google Earth to walk from Car Rental Company to catch Bus to Palmerston North 5 minutes later. Would have missed the Bus.
It was very cold in Winter by the Whanganui River. The Oil Radiator in my room didn’t turn on. It was cold going to the bathroom via the outside verandah.

Didn't have time for breakfast but I'm sure it would have been great like the accommodation.

The preservation of history.
I like football and cricket on holiday but there was no time anyway so it was pleasantly irrelevant.

Old villa with character, amazing atmosphere - old photographs on the walls, vintage cozy lounge. Good water pressure in the shower.
We stayed during winter and it was a bit chilly.

Genuine and down to earth people. A YHA with a human touch.
Beds will shag in the middle. Not too sure if it's a nz thing

We stay here regularly for rowing training camps. Great common spaces, great kitchen. Parking available and close to river.
Only one shower for dorms.

A beautifully renovated colonial mansion which was clean, comfortable and affordable. I loved that the mansion was furnished fitting of its Era. Lots of fresh towels available in your room and the shared bathrooms. I loved the bath robe which was an extra touch for comfort and the electric blanket. The property exceeded my expectations. I never used the kitchen or lounge but I am sure they were great.

We didnt realise but we had booked into the backpackers park of the house.
But it was fine-great price and we were only there for one night.
We had a private cabin type room out the back and it was a good size and
clean. Bed was comfortable.
Shared bathroom next to our room was large and very clean.
Not our usual accommodation but very pleasantly surprised.
Couldnt catch the chicken.
