La Jolla is a small condo complex sitting up above beach level. There are stairs that lead to the small, quaint beach where you can have food, massages, rent kayaks/paddle boards, or hire out a boat excursion. We love it here. The one restaurant on property is excellent but isn't open year round. You might have to navigate a couple flights of stairs depending on condo but they were working on extending the elevator when we were there last.

Condo has a great location with a scenic view from the balcony. Well equipped with everything you need for your stay. Great on-site restaurant, or you can walk to various good restaurants in town in about 10-15 minutes. Vibe is very low key and quiet and relaxing. Pool was great. Hot tub was nice and hot! A very enjoyable stay here.

Probably the nicest condo on the property. The owners have done a beautiful job decorating.
Only problem we encountered was the elevator for that building has not yet been installed.it wasn’t easy carrying my wheelchair and luggage the additional two floors.
Mismaloya grill is fantastic! You don’t even need to leave the property.

We had an amazing week! Everything was lovely. Our second stay at La Joya de Mismaloya and we will be back I’m sure. Can’t beat the ocean view.

I don’t normally write reviews. The Mismaloya Bay is probably only 10 miles from downtown Puerto Vallarta but the traffic at peak hours/ peak tourist times ( we were there over Christmas) created a slow trip. Perhaps 40 min or longer in our rental car. The parking is easy at the condo. Public transportation of a variety of types is readily available. Parking downtown can be more difficult depending on location. The bay itself is stunning. The facilities are excellent, private ownership for these condos with many not utilized when the owners are gone. Despite a review indicating difficult beach access that is not true, for my mobility level at least. A stairway and gate lead to the beach which is maybe 50 yards away. Several small restaurants deeper into the bay community. The condo itself is top notch. The balcony and views are awesome. Quiet for the most part with occasional music from the all inclusive resort a small distance away. Some road traffic rarely heard, mostly just hear the waves on the beach rocks below the window about 60 feet. The sandy beach is over to the left about 50 yards as stated. One restaurant on facility. Excellent pool with plenty of seating. Not many people at the pool with rare children at our stay. Great jacuzzi below the room as well as at the pool. Frankly, I would buy a place there, or at least consider it. The check in after hours was a little awkward. I speak Spanish so it was OK, but during the day would have been better. Amy, our liason for the location was great via e mail but unfortunately back in the states for our trip from Texas’s. Some broken English but most speak Spanish. Doubt much of a problem for English speakers only.

Lovely view....but limited beach access
As others have noted, the view of the sparkling bay and crashing waves below are magical. Overall we enjoyed our stay, however, as committed ‘beach walkers,’ we were disappointed that the beach access is via a very slippery rock outcropping or along a busy road. Since we couldn’t walk on the beach, we ended up going to the town daily, which offers its own charms. However, we did feel a bit ‘captive’ in the unit.
The remodeled unit is quite attractive, however, they seemed to sacrifice functionality for aesthetics. Not one chair is comfortable. And the listing says it ‘sleeps 4’ which is wrong. The sofas do not accommodate guests or children. (We didn’t have either, but be forwarned.)
Minor issues include an erratic coffee maker and toilet that needs repair. The bedroom does have muffled street noise (and slight vibrations); we solved this by keeping the bedroom windows closed all the time and letting the sound of the crashing surf drown it out.
Beautiful view. Lovely weather. Wonderful condo staff and security. All in all this was a wonderful trip.

Exceeded our Expecations
La Jolla de Mismaloya is a very well cared for condominium complex. The views are spectacular with an abundance of sea life and bird life visible right from the balcony of the condo. The coastline and sunsets are exquisite. Watching the local pangas and fisherman come and go is quite entertaining. We stayed in this unit for 2 weeks and another unit for 1 week and we would recommend both of them.
The staff is superb and will help you with everything - from getting your luggage and groceries to the condo to helping with directions. They are all very friendly and the pride they take in making your stay enjoyable and keeping the building in tip-top shape is abundantly clear everywhere.
The pool and surrounding area is a real treat especially for those who like swimming laps. The lounge chairs and umbrellas are a big plus making sun or shade readily available. And there are also shaded palapas with great chairs. The bar & restaurant will serve you at the pool.
This unit was recently refreshed with new paint, furnishings and art work making it a very comfortable place to stay. For the most part, the kitchen is well stocked with the things you need for cooking. I provided some feedback to Amy of things that would be helpful to have for future guests. So I expect any shortcomings will not be there in the future. And BTW, Amy was super easy to communicate with about the unit and helpful while we were there!
A couple of other big pluses is that the condo water is filtered with bottled water also available if you prefer at the front desk. There's a really nice restaurant within the condo complex, there are laundry facilities available for use for free, taxis are readily available, there's a couple of restaurants within walking distance and the local bus stop which goes into old town PV is directly across the street from the hotel. We found it very easy to get groceries and other supplies during our stay.
The reason we gave it 4 stars overall is that there is considerable road noise, which really didn't bother us in this unit as the back of the condo is below street level, the bay has a small beach not great for walking on and there is an all-inclusive hotel that is rather loud when they host weddings.
However, none of these things were big enough issues for us to not want to come back! Our 3 weeks in the complex flew by so you know we enjoyed ourselves. We DO plan on returning in the future because the pluses far out weigh the minuses!!!

Spectacular views of Mismaloya Bay.
Enjoyed the beach and bay views. The highway noise was significant, took some getting used to.

Paradise found
Our rental was a wonderfully appointed and recently remodeled condo. We stayed nine days for our Misamaloya vacation. Everything we needed from extra beach towels to well stocked kitchen utensils was provided. The AC when used at nighttime for sleeping was very comfortable as was the ambient temperature during the daytime if we stayed in. The security is top notch. There was always a security guard watching out for the owners or renters. Special kudos to "Rosa" for assisting my wife with her photography and security issues on numerous occasions. My apology for dropping and breaking a wine glass. If you are looking for a "safe", very well appointed condo complete with satelite TV I highly recommend you check out this condominium rental.

Thanks Amy, unit looked great.
How best to see the schedule of rentals? We do plan some upgrades. Judy would like to have her fingerprints on it to make her feel more like she is part of it. We would like to plan some work in May, is it open during that period? April--May-June?
Have had some issues with title/working with Cynthia! Nice lady.
Will discuss with you. Thanks again for all the assist.

Beautiful place to stay and be as active or inactive as you want.
Condo was spacious, clean and nicely decorated with a fantastic view. Staff were friendly and helpful. Misamaloya is a wonderful fishing village, with lots of activities - swiming, fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling and hiking. Mismaloya Grill located on the property had delicious fresh food for lunch and dinner. Can't wait to go back!

A Most Excellent View
We were delighted with our most restful stay in Mismaloya about 40 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta. Our off-season visit was quieter than usual with some amenities closed for the holiday and season. However, great grocery stores like Sorianas made meal preparation in the well equipped condo enjoyable. We learned to take the local bus back and forth to the city...easy. The Zoo offered an afternoon of fun and exercise as we walked back and forth. We also took a day trip with Vallarta Ventures on the catamaran to snorkel and see the coastal sights. The beach was small and in Mismaloya we felt a bit isolated at times. But we will never forget the views and sunsets.

Nice Condo, Terrible Staff Avoid!
Although we rated this at a 1 to 2 star rating, the condo itself is a 5+! The condo is beautiful, well outfit with fantastic new or relatively new granite counter tops, large refrigerator, large screen TV, everything you could ask for in a rental condo and spotlessly clean, with fantastic views from the very wonderful deck overlooking the bay and towards the Night of the Iguana movie set.
The reason for the low rating is: 1) we should have been told there was no restaurant or bar. Although it apparently is open during the "high season". So there was no where to get even a beer or margarita, although you could walk into the little town to buy both. 2) But the MAIN reason of the low rating is the front desk staff. First of the several times we visited the front desk there was no one there period, however there was a security guard at the gate, when we did ask someone to come to the desk they were noticeably annoyed at being disturbed from having to come to the front desk. When there was a person at the front desk, they were possibly the rudest, coldest front desk people we have come across in our numerous trips to the PV area including several other parts of Mexico. Honestly the worst we have ever had the unfortunate experience to meet. We would not recommend this complex only because of the staff not the condo itself.

Beautiful, Quiet, Fully Stocked Kitchen
This unit is beautiful, quiet, full 24/7 security with views of Mismaloya bay and the Pacific ocean from the balcony. We saw dolphins, pelicans, fish, cranes from the balcony. We had gated access to the beach with snorkeling, jet skis, restaurant, bar and massage and small boat tours to Los Arcos, Yelapa, etc. There's a poolside restaurant and bar service during peak season, beginning in November. Onsite there is a pool, two hot tubs, gym, tennis court, ping pong and pool table. Bus stop and taxis right out the front door. This unit is recently remodeled with everything you could ever need; fully stocked kitchen with a dishwasher, king size bed, TVs, stereo, DVD player, cards, games, etc. This unit is close to a second secluded hot tub overlooking the bay. We loved this unit!
Despite it's distance from downtown Puerto Vallarta (10 minute taxi ride) there's a lot to do nearby; El Eden, Canopy zip line, zoo, Botanical gardens, horseback rides and Los Arcos small boat snorkeling, fishing and/or scuba tours. The small boats are willing to do longer excursions on request.

Great location
Great location, but the unit itself is beginning to show its age. Shower doors leak, 4 of the 7 knobs on the stove are broken (particularly irksome with the oven as it's impossible to determine the temperature!), the dishwasher broke during our 2nd week. A new one was delivered during our final week, but it was not installed and we had to navigate around a large crate in the middle of the dining area for the balance of our stay. However, we were not there to live indoors! The property and the pool are immaculate; the staff are very friendly (unless you have to deal with Raphael who kowtows to the owners and dismisses renters when he's having a bad day!), and the on site restaurant and its owner Pablo are a treat. Being in Mismaloya is far enough away from PVR to escape the hub-bub, but close enough to get into town with ease. I would definitely recommend it. Again, the beautiful location far out weighs any deficits.

Beautiful, relaxing, friendly vacation spot.
This condo is located on a cliff with the ocean waves crashing on the rocks right below you...very relaxing to sit on the patio and listen as the sound relaxes you. You will also see turtules, colorful fish, and pelicans right from your chair.
The inside of the condo has been totally renovated with new counter tops in the kitchen and stainless steel appliances Including a dishwasher. The living room has comfortable furniture, new flat screen TV and a nice music system.
In my opinion, this is the best place to stay in Puerto Vallarta. It is very safe, close to town, great friendly staff and very fun people that stay here.

Mismaloya Condos
We have spent part or most of the severe winter months (January - February) at this lovely location overlooking the stunning beach at Mismaloya, and have booked through this owner's representative for three seasons. The unit is impeccable, up to date and well-equipped. Everything is as described, and a great value. You can stay twice as long in Mismaloya for the same peso as you can stay in Miami (if you wanted to stay in Miami that long!). Beyond the basics, however, is the congenial group of owners and renters. We have made many friends we stay in touch with and see year-to-year. The condo is a short trip to the lively town of Puerto Vallarta with restaurants galore, Margarita's at sunset and plenty to do when one wearies of the beach and the pool. Side trips from here also provide diversion for those who are adventurous. We'll be back in 2015.

Puerto vallarta escape
We had an awesome 10 days in beautiful Puerto Vallarta. Check in was so easy thanks to Francesco and the staff. The condo was fabulous. The decor, the layout, the view and the amenities were just as the pictures seen on line. The only thing missing was a washer and dryer, but we did not have a need for either. One thing that might be difficult for some was no elevator in bldg 7, but the staff was helpful with the luggage.
We had breakfast on the deck overlooking Mismaloya most mornings. Unfortunately, the restaurant and bar by the pool was closed as most of the owners had left . We had breakfast at the condos Girasol just 5 minutes with the bus or we went into town and enjoyed fabulous pancakes at the pancake house or Freddie Tucan on basilo badillo
We met some lovely owners and renters by the pool and were given several recommendations. At the beach at Mismaloya ask for roger who will take good care of you and the food is very good and fresh. In the town of Mismaloya, we had a lovely dinner (very reasonable) at Tony's . The fish was fabulous and the service was excellent
We had several wonderful meals in town some new to us and some old favorites. Pollos on aquiles serdan (great bakery. K Rico as well)la cigale on hidalgo, Mediterranean cafe on Mina Behind the church and the blue shrimp and la palapa and daiquiri dicks on the malecon. All were very enjoyable
We went out to Bucerias (blue and white to Walmart and change to bus to Bucerias. The town and restaurants has grown and we ate at el Chevero on the beach to a great band. The food was good as well as the service(try the coconut shrimp) the higher end restaurants (marks) is over the kissing bridge. There are many boutiques as well.
The highlight of our vacation, besides the great weather 83 degrees and little humidity, was the boat tour thru vallarta adventures to las caletas to see the RYTHM of the night. Don,t miss it. It is worth the money the buffet is incredible
We would difinetely recommend this lovely condo and look forward to returning possibly next year. Puerto Vallarta is friendly safe and filled with many activities for all ages. Having returned for the 6th time, it feels like home. R and J
