the room is very spacious with a wonderful view of Puerta de Sol. It is Christmas period and there is a Christmas tree set up. There is light show ever night which you can see clearly from hotel's balcony. Receptionist speaks English and is friendly. Room make up every day.
We met 2 holidays in the week that we were there and Sol station was closed from 5th to 9th Dec, everyday from 6pm to 9pm. We had to take metro to one station before/after and walk back to Sol. Puerta de Sol is crowded every night so expect some noise which is bearable. There was crowd control every night as the place was packed. They do not give room slippers and there arent tissue boxes given. There is only 1 to 2 English channel i.e. no Fox or Disney channels in English

The balcony overlooking a fascinating scene all day long.
Beds a little hard for our tastes

Location was excellent!

Location was great, Room overlooked the main shopping street, views were pretty and very nice to have balconies during day. Very little else to say nice about this hotel.
Hotel is very basic and not worth the location. Rented a triple room, did NOT look like photos at all. 3 beds jammed into a small room, barely room to walk around bed. The room was EXTREMELY noisy. Paper thin walls, could hear other guests using their bathrooms.(yuk!) A flushed toiled in any adjacent room sounded like the walls were flooding around us. Very loud street noice that lasted all night long. Rooms and hotel are very tourist-basic, don't expect upscale.

This was a nice hotel for us in a great location next to plaza del sol. We had a little balcony over looking the Courtyard heading into plaza del sol which was nice. Bathroom was clean. Overall it was a good value and staff were helpful with whatever we needed. They also have an outdoor caffè.
It was definitely nousy at night. Madrid does not sleep. But i was actually fine with that as I'm from a city myself so it's like white noise for me. But if you aren't it could be annoying.

Location and the room
I was not aware that one of the nights was not paid for. The hotel staff stressed me out during my vacation because there’s no proper communication between booking.com and the hotel!
It is my 1st time me being in a hotel where the hotel is locked all night and the guest needs to let the front desk every time the guest goes in and out! The staff is rude and hesitant to answer and respond to a guest request, need, question and concern. The breakfast was not included. There is no swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi. There is no sufficient value for the money!!!

location
bad mattress - very hard beds, not comfortable at all. bad sleep.
hotel cafe/restaurant hectic - staff all over the place.

The staff were superfriendly, receptionists, cleaners, restaurant staff...
The temperature in the rooms CAN'T be controlled despite heater is off the room get warmer, is not individual heating/AC, also most of the rooms have an space between the floor and the door and you can hear everything from the corridor, and the walls are very thin, you can hear the people from other rooms chatting.

I know it sounds trivial, but the shower was excellent! Also the room had a good clothes cupboard, and a small fridge, and a decent bed. The location was very convenient, if noisy during the day - when we weren't there that much anyway. In these two days we ran around town with our niece, so we didn't even have our usual afternoon siesta :) And the staff took care of our two requests - one, for checking out an hour late before heading to the airport, and two, for ordering us a taxi.
We always appreciate an electric kettle in the room, but, as in most places where they'd like you to eat breakfast, this was not available. We drink neither tea nor coffee and a kettle allows us to fix our own hot drink; it's not that we're too cheap to buy a drink on-site! Other than that, the hotel is exactly what we expected though not the kind of small place that we usually choose. In this case we needed a central location with good facilities for our last days in Madrid which included Fiesta de la Hispanidad, and that's what the Hotel Europa provided - along with a string of tour groups marching in and out.

staff very friendly and helpful

The restaurant in the morning (inside seating) was convenient for just coffee/tea and pastry/toast, and very reasonably priced.
The breakfast buffet for 13 euro a person was not good value. The food was not fresh, and the selection was not great. It also was not kept restocked. At 9:00 there was only the remainder of some eggs and it wasn’t hot, nor was the yogurt kept pastry selection also was very limited.

the location is perfect, it wasn’t noisy to be in the middle of everything! staff was friendly and helpful.
not too many outlets to charge your phone and we had a handicap room where the water from the shower was all over the bathroom when we shower
