The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble for them. The pornstar martini was the best to date. Plenty of hot water.
The Hotel could do with a refurb, our room was very small and the bed was very soft and low. Despite being 2 of us, there was only 1 chair in the room, so one of us had to sit on the bed. You have to go downstairs to the bar /restaurant /breakfast. This was very difficult as we have limited mobility and we had been informed that once we were up the steps to the building, everything would be on one level.

The staff in the restaurant at breakfast were especially attentive. The staff member remembered our order from the previous day, which was thoughtful.
Good location from the centre (we were there for the jazz festival)
We managed to park and there seemed to be spaces available despite the festival and it being a race weekend. The NCP car park is nearby at about £15 for 24hrs.
The hotel looks a bit tired but comfortable and we would come back. We were on the top floor. Three flights from the dining room and no lift. We managed but it might be worth noting when booking in the future.

Location, beautiful building, great staff.
Unfortunately the room we stayed whilst it did have some good aspects, such as the bathroom and size, the ceiling looked on the verge of collapse and the room was very tired

Close to city centre. Easy and quick walk to city centre
Parking could be a problem

We had a newly refurbished room on the ground floor. Staff were very helpful and a decent breakfast was provided. We availed ourselves of temporary membership of the nearby fitness centre with swimming pool. The situation of the hotel is first class. Close to the centre yet quiet and facing gardens
Nothing really.

Location wise this is ideal, only a 10 min walk away from the town Center. The staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were large, but quite dated apart from the bathrooms that look recently refreshed. The use of the local leisure Center was also a good bonus.
I wouldn’t recommend staying here in a heatwave. With it being a listed building they can’t fit AC so it was very warm and dry in the rooms although fans were gratefully supplied. The main issue we had is that there is no lift, so this hotel really isn’t suitable for disabled people or ourselves who had a small child with us.

Lovely decoration

This hotel I very near all amenities and within walking distance of the high street and restaurants.
The building stands very fine and tall in a grand sense of the word.
The main square and small park opposite makes the stay quiet and easy to park.
The hotel has its own parking and seating areas ideal for visitors to access their luggage.
The restaurant was super and food excellent both in taste and presentation with very inventive cuisine.
Including beetroot bread while you wait.
The huge steep steps outside the grand hotel makes it hard to climb for disabled persons.
The room was huge and comfortable with a working fridge for cold drinks and bringing extra milk .
Room 2 was on ground floor and easy for my 85 year old to walk to with her walker.
But the breakfast and restaurant were in basement down 20 steps which had no lift or disabled access.
A difficult part of our stay.
We were told we could swim at hotel with a pool facility but before you say goodie !!
Beware there’s no pool on site only the use of a pool in centre a 10 minute walk away along with a good gym.
The use of a facility within a private building hidden in a shopping centre with a distinctive busy feel
The gym has a lift too.

Location
Number of stairs, no lift. Dirty bathroom fan an small shower cubicle but large shower head meant bathroom got very wet which, when no storage or shelves in bathroom made it very difficult to use the bathroom comfortably. Room decor very tired with water damaged ceiling.

Location and the staff were great. Bed was very comfortable.
Shower was too hot and bathroom was very compact. A little outdated and in need of an internal update.

Location.
Door retainers. Too abrupt & loud.

We stayed in a cheaper double room room, it was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were very attentive and accommodating. With walking distance to shops and restaurants, it was just what we needed when visiting family.
There was no water in our room as it was on a cheaper tariff but that was quickly resolved by giving us some glasses.

The setting, very leafy, helpfulness of the staff, had no problems at all
While clean I thought that certain areas of my room needed a paint brush, especially on the bathroom jambs

Great location, food and very friendly staff.
Room was a bit dated with scuffs on the wall and some pealing paint. Also there was a fair amount of dust built up around skirting boards and window sills.

Location and older features of the property were great, parking on site was a bonus. Also staff were superb.
Property renovated to not the highest finish, thermostatic valve on radiator broken meaning heating in full all day and night. Unfortunately found a fly in the breakfast on the last day before checkout

Standard Double Room was adequate but small so would advise not bringing lots of luggage. However it had a really comfy bed and nice bathroom.
Location is beautiful and breakfast was lovely.
Only recommendation would be to have a complimentary bottle of water and some drinking glasses in the room. I would consider this standard now in any hotel.

Excellent breakfast and location
Floorboards above room noisy when other guests moving about and decor of bedroom could have been better.

Staff very friendly and quick in resolving initial issues of the room. The building itself is beautifully decorated. The location is very convenient to walk to the centre. We had a great stay.

Clean, spacious bathroom. The room felt small because of the low ceiling, but was very accommodating.
Room and hotel smelt a little musty. No hotel staff to greet us on arrival.
