Petit déjeuner plus que moyen , établissement un peu défraîchi, pas de télé dans les chambres

Owner?/manager met us (1 other guest) at the ferry dock without any prior arrangement. How nice!
Good breakfast in a dining room with a GREAT view of the fjord.

The hotel was charming, the breakfast was great, and the host was friendly, helpful, generous and responsive.
we generally really liked it. A small point is that it might of been nice to have a kettle and tea and coffee in our room.

Balestrand is a small town. The hotel is located within walking distance of everything, and the room is rather spacious. The reception staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast spread is adequate.
Nothing much to comment on this, except that the shower curtain doesn't help much to prevent water flowing out from shower stall, and bathroom floor mat was not provided.

Beautiful location, friendly staff, great breakfast, amazing water view. Right next to St Olafs stave church.

There was an old world charm to the older part of the hotel, where the lobby, and breakfast room is. To get to the breakfast room you pass through a number of rooms decorated in the fashion of the times which lends for a wonderful atmosphere. There is a comfortable area adjoining the reception with sofas, chairs and a big tv. There is a room with a billiard table. There are quaint areas outdoors to sit in. The guest rooms are in a newer addition with an elevator. These rooms are simpler but comfortable with enough closet space and with two armchairs and a table between. Our room had a large window looking out to the fjord and the church below. The breakfast was ample and laid out aesthetically. Soft music played in the background. Overall it was a pleasure having breakfast in their dining room. The person who checked us in introduced himself as the brother of the owner. He offered to give us a tour and some explanations about the hotel which we really enjoyed. Later on we met the owner who also was friendly and answered our questions about sightseeing and travelling to our next destination. There is complimentary tea and coffee near the reception.
The bathroom was quite small with very little room to put needed toiletries.

The hotel is located in a great area of Balestrand, right off the water, next to a Stave style church, and walking distance to downtown. The room itself is outdated but the common areas of the house that you see in the ads is very comfortable with several areas to relax in. Breakfast had a good variety of foods and you eat in a dining room with a view of the water. The owner is very friendly and after I told him I was looking to see something specific while in Norway he went out of his way to make it happen which I really appreciated.
The room kind of reminded me of a dorm with two single beds on the opposite side of the room and some furniture in the middle. It was outdated with no amenities like a tv or coffee maker. This is not related to the hotel but good information for tourists- We visited in mid September and a lot of things in Balestrand are closed for the season or close very early so options were limited.

I will say my stay here was the highlight of my trip.. my room was basic but comfortable with an amazing view out to the fjord. Staff was always helpful . Also the town itself was so lovely to walk around especially in the shoulder season, it was so peaceful. It was the relaxing getaway I truly needed..

Large, comfortable room with balcony that had a corner view of fjord. This is an older, quirky hotel but charming. Great breakfast included.
Shower leaked all over the whole room.

The breakfast was extensive with juices, hot and cold cereals, boiled and scrambled eggs, a variety of breads, meats, and lox, and plenty of wonderful steaming coffee. A true delight!
The gentleman at the front desk was personable, kind, and enthusiastic from the moment he picked us up at the ferry until we said good-bye.I sincerely hope I can go back to the Midtnes Hotel someday!
Honestly nothing.

We upgraded to a fjord view room and enjoyed sitting on the balcony to relax.
our host was so accommodating. We were picked up at the ferry terminal which is only a 5 minute walk to the hotel. We stayed two nights and both mornings we needed to be down at the ferry at 7:50 so we were able to have a full breakfast earlier than scheduled. Having two comfortable chairs in the room was a plus. The hotel lobby and adjoins historic house have many places to sit and read. There is also billiards table. A visit to the small church next door is a must.
The bathroom is a bit small but functional.

The owner was just wonderful. He picked us up at the ferry dock and transported us and our luggage to the hotel. He recommended a restaurant for dinner. Hertz did not give us correct information about our rental car and we found out that it was about 90 minutes away. John arranged for a car in Ballestrand and gave us excellent suggestions for how to spend our day. The car rental company was not able to accept credit cards so my husband had to go to the ATM to get cash for the car rental. When we had NOK left over after paying for the rental car John let us pay for part of our hotel stay with cash so that we did not have to worry about converting the NOK to USD,

Hotel has a good location in town
Wish I could say something positive about the room - old furniture, mattress in the bed quite hard and walls are very thin. Also the room was overheated and window was only possible to open a bit. Acceptable for the one night I stayed, but from my perspective overpriced for what you get ( can only speak for the single bed room).
