Whale Song Cottage is nestled in the beautiful Southeast Alaskan rain forest of Juneau, Alaska. The cottage is surrounded by lush vegetation, including an abundance of blueberries, ripe for your picking.in July and August. Just steps away from water views of Favorite Channel and a short walk to the beach, Whale Song Cottage is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle. A glimpse of the majestic humpback whales that grace the waters of Alaska can often be experienced in front of the owner’s property. Listen carefully- you may hear them sing!
Our cottage is your true ‘home away from home’. The kitchen is fully furnished with dishware and glassware, pots and pans, toaster, blender and microwave, propane oven and stove top, and full sized refrigerator. As you enter the cozy living room/dining area you will discover a propane fireplace and dining table with seating for four. The living room is furnished with a comfortable sofa couch, recliner chair, 4K satellite TV, DVD player, DVD library, and the main level of the cottage has a full bathroom that includes a deep bathtub w/shower. All plush towels are provided as well as a hair dryer.
The main sleeping loft features a queen sized bed that provides high quality sheets, extra pillows and a down comforter. Although the cottage is ideal for 2 people, there is a high quality inflatable bed that inflates and deflates automatically for storage during the day. Sheets, pillows and comforter are provided for this twin sized bed.
The back porch is spacious and seating for four is provided so that you can enjoy the surrounding lush Alaskan environment. An electric grill is also provided to grill your freshly caught local fish!

This cabin was perfect for my wife and I. Hosts were very accommodating, and the cabin itself was very private. Everything inside worked and it was spotless. For us, we appreciated the fact that it was very quiet, which let us relax.

Yes, we were tourists while staying here but we like to experience vacation away from t-shirt shops and crowds. This cottage allowed for that. Owners are on-site and respected privacy, yet were quick to respond to any questions. Very clean, nice selection of kitchen supplies, comfy bed, and private location. Best halibut fish 'n chips ever can be had at Sandbar and Grill and great bald eagle viewing from several locations at Eagle Beach Recreation Area.

We wanted to visit Juneau, but not as part of a tour ship mob. This cottage nestled in the rain forest several miles out of town was just what we wanted: secluded and quiet, with an attractive, clean, Alaska-accented ambience. The small kitchen provided everything needed for making our own meals. Our hosts were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. It was the perfect place to relax between our short adventures.

The place was beautiful. All amenities were met. The only hiccup was when I tried to have three people to visit me for a couple of hours, the husband came and YELLED at me, and kicked out my company. The contract only specifies about guests staying overnight (which none of them were - again - it was just a 2 hour visit) and parking - which could also have been remedied without the yelling and anger. He even threatened to call the cops before I could even process what was going on. He reveals that he was under a lot of stress because this was new to him, which I do have compassion for. I just think I could have been approached with more respect. His outrage was quite alarming.

Whalesong cottage is even better than the photos and description disclose. It was the perfect getaway for my boyfriend and I for a week. It is outside the normal range of the cruise ship crowds in Juneau, but still within easy reach. It is just north of Auke Bay where the fishing charters and whale watching tours depart from (do NOT pass up Forbidden Peaks Brewery for a meal and a beer), and just South of many of the trailheads for hiking / biking. We were lucky enough to see a small black bear browsing the blueberries around the cottage several times during our visit. He made himself scarce when he knew we were watching, as any good bear should. If there was a way to bearproof a hot tub, we would probably never leave. Julie and Rick are wonderful hosts with an amazing property and we are grateful they are happy to share it with us. Thank you!

We were in Alaska for funeral services, and Whalesong provided us a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. The owners are very nice, and the place is immaculate. As some have described, it is like staying in a tree house--a very comfortable one. I would not hesitate to recommend it to someone going to the Juneau area.

The cottage was just as appears in listing. It has good parking and is very private being located in the temperate rain forest surrounding Juneau. Owner has thought of almost everything one would need or want when traveling. Only item we could have used was packing tape. We left far too early to ask if any was available. Probably need a vehicle as it is about 8 miles outside city. Neither is a major item. We would definitely stay here again and definitely recommend it to other travelers.

Whale Song was an amazing place to stay and be able to explore the Juneau area. In the evenings, we could walk to the beach and watch whales, eagles and harbor seals. Close to hiking adventures and not too far from town. Julie and Rick were great hosts and have created a welcoming cabin. Would love to return someday!

This property is a great spot for getaway. Julie and her husband are great hosts. The cottage is cozy and well equipped for cooking. The bed is very comfy. The gas stove for heating (not cooking) warns the cottage very well to the point the upstairs gets a bit warm. There are not a great assortment of places to eat nearby but a well stocked grocery store is 10 min away. Great hiking in the area. Take the main road north until it ends for hikes and sightseeing. We loved our time in Juneau and at the Whale Song Cottage. Its located 35 mins from the city center and that suited us fine. The back patio had a great forest view (saw a bear!). There is a rocky beach nearby that we walked to. The cottage itself is well furnished with all the comforts, as listed. The high ceiling and windows lets a lot of natural light through and the bedroom loft was comfy. It's perfect for two and perfectly fine with three. Julie and her husband were great hosts. Overall, we loved the place and would love to return.

This spectacular gem in the forest was the perfect sanctuary for our stay. Everything you could want is there. We had major changes in our travel plans and Julie graciously picked us up close to midnight from the ferry terminal. The cottage is actually better than the pictures. Extremely clean and comfortable; has everything you could need; and it is surrounded by blueberry bushes...just step right out and pick from the patio! We loved our stay here and we were close enough to all of Juneau's main attractions.

The cottage was absolutely perfect! It had everything we needed to be comfortable and then some. The back porch surrounded by forest was so peaceful, and just down the road we found our favorite spot we were told is named Heart Rock Beach where the views and wildlife were spectacular. The location was great, and Julie and Rick were great hosts. Their cottage is well cared for and all of the little extras made for a great stay. We would definitely recommend this property and we’ll definitely be back!!

Best Vacation Rental Ever
This picturesque cottage was perfect for our Juneau Anniversary Trip. The rental provided everything we needed to experience being emerged in the environment. We enjoyed the distance from the cruise crowd while having access to all that Juneau has to offer. Starting each morning with coffee surrounded by nature was priceless. A rental car is the ideal mode of transportation. Julie and Rick were the kindest hosts! They were available for all of our questions/needs yet gave us plenty of privacy and space! We would recommend this rental without hesitation! If we have an opportunity to return to Juneau we would book Whale Song Cottage first thing!
