Staff were really nice!
The internet connection was super unstable to the point we simply couldn’t use it.
Someone has to open the door for you everytime you wish to enter or leave the hostel, which at times wasn’t very convenient.

We spent a night in a cozy room at Picaflor‘s. The guest house is ideally located near the Plaza de Armas as well as the hiking trail up to the Depositos.

The placement is great.
but the mountain view not much, no need to pay extra for that. Plus, the wifi doesn't work in all the rooms.

The room was beautiful and you could always hear the stream nearby. Comfortable bed and no issues with hot water. Great wifi.
Breakfast was not great (an egg even costs extra).
You have to be let in by the host every time you come back to the guest house and it took 30 minutes once because only 1 person works here and he went to dinner.
A space heater would be great and seems standard at other places in the Sacred Valley.

staff was very friendly
bathroom flooded
The room was on the ground floor so a lot of distractions at night and light streaming in from the corridor not conducive for a restful night

The location and the beds are confy
The view. They said a mountain view, but finally it is a part of the mountain that you can see behind a wall and a house in front of the facility.

Music all night, very noisy. We couldn’t sleep and the next day we had to go at 6am to machu piccu. They could have told us that there were a club / loud karaoke next door…..

Picaflor Tambo is in a quiet neighborhood, and a short hike to amazing ruins starts near their entrance. Diego met us at the central plaza on our arrival. Picaflor Tambo combines ancient Inca ruins with modern style and conveniences. Diego arranged tours and advised us of events, restaurants, etc. Delicious breakfast buffet was included and Diego brought a thermos of hot water and selection of teas to room nightly. We added nights to our stay because Picaflor Tambo is such a wonderful guest house, and we enjoyed Ollantaytambo so much.
Picaflor Tambo is an excellent and I would change nothing. It is important to note that Ollantaytambo has the most important Inca ruins in Peru, second only to Machu Picchu, and is on the train line between Cusco and Machu Picchu. Due to Inca Rail's strict prohibition to carry luggage larger than a backpack, Diego stored our luggage at Picaflor Tambo until we returned from Machu Picchu on our way back to Cusco.

The manager was very helpful, even getting up in middle of night to advise on location of clinic when our daughter fell ill with altitude sickness.

The best part of Picaflor Tambo was Antonio who was made everything happen. He helped us arrange for transportation from Cusco to Ollantaytambo, including tours along the way for a very reasonable price. He recommended the best restaurant in the area for dinner (Apu Veronica) and even packed a substantial lunchbox for all of us to take on our train ride to Machu Picchu. The hotel itself is adorable and worked great for us. There is an aqueduct the runs alongside the entrance of the hotel which you hear all night and in the morning and it's the most soothing sound.
Getting a full shower with hot water was challenging. It went in and out, which considering the structure of many of these buildings, it was tolerable. Although the hotel didn't have a heater, we didn't feel the cold in the middle of the night.

This is the perfect space to relax set back in a quiet part only a couple of blocks from the main center located along a little river. We had two balconies and Mountain Views. We ended up staying another night. The owner was also very friendly and made us a lovely breakfast.
Just make sure to call in advance so the owner can meet you as it might be a bit difficult to find.

Unique stay with a balcony overlooking mountains and ruins, tranquil atmosphere. The host was very friendly and accommodating. Both of our mornings were early, so he greeted us with“to-go” breakfasts for us each morning and arranged our taxi to the airport.
Having to go through the cobblestone alley to get to the location was difficult with luggage.

Nothing. I loved it there!

LOVED the street, view, size of the room, sound of the rushing water in the aqueduct outside, Antonio the host, the quaint town and will stay there again definitely! Also, I fell off a stone wall - hitting my head on another stone wall requiring stitches and a badly injured wrist. Antonio and his friends all helped me in multiple ways to get the help I needed!!!
Hot water is intermittent. Sometimes its only slightly warm.

We have been charged for a bag storage without notice

Hospitality from host. They're willing to help us carry the baggages to the car. So mice people.
Room decoration. Hospitality from host that couldn't be forgot.

The Hospitality of host is great. The hotel is clean. I visited in beginning October where the weather was rather cold so the room was cold but they provided me a portable heater which could help it better even not much.
The hotel could not be accessible by car. We had to walk on the brick road which was hard to people with big luggage. Anyway if you told the hotel in advance, they might help you by sending a trolly.

The location to the main plaza was very easy, easy walk to the plaza, to the ruins, and to all restaurants and bars. Also, we had an early tour one morning and would miss breakfast so the staff packed us a to go breakfast/lunch. They were very attentive and we appreciated their service and attention.
4.4 / 5.0
Very helpful staff, large comfortable rooms.
There is no car access and you must carry your your luggage over irregular stone paved streets.
