Idyllic riverside location and the new restaurant since our last stay is a real additional asset with lots of light and space overlooking the beautiful gardens. The food (breakfasts and evening meal) were excellent. The staff were friendly, effective and efficient.
Bed too soft for our liking, but bed was clearly of a good quality. The shower in the bath was difficult for our elderly parents to get into i.e. to climb over the side of the bath. The kitchen extractor fan is just outside our room (room 2) bathroom window so a bit noisy. It came on about 0700 and went off about 2300 so did not disrupt sleep and I cannot see any alternative given that it comes from the excellent new restaurant addition we loved! Consider the limited parking on a Sunday afternoon as people are there for Sunday lunch and Afternoon Teas so as we arrived prior to our check in there were no spaces and we had to park in the public car park for a few hours prior to spaces opening up in the hotel car park.

A beautiful property and location.
The room was cramped and the mattress soft but the shower was top class. The restaurant is the best for miles around, if expensive.

Beautiful character hotel full of English historical charm.
. Simply stunning well kept & maintained grounds , with the river backdrop is a huge feature for this hotel. The generous number of bench seating nestled in the many tucked away tranquil areas , ideal for soaking in the birdsong and ambience of the grounds.
First class breakfast promptly served in a wonderful bright restaurant .
The shower room allocated (5) was very compact / small and the shower room appalling . Extremely tight small shower with difficult controls to get correct temp . With the sliding door closed the barely any room inside.
comfortable bed & pillows .
With 2 x main windows unable to open & no air con this room could prove very warm in mid summer .

Well positioned, lovely grounds
The room was at the top of the building, in the eaves. I am tall and it was uncomfortable having to watch my head all the time.

setting and staff were amazing
would have liked a fridge in the bedroom

Staff were very friendly and the location was excellent. I wasn't able to have breakfast until the last morning as I had to leave earlier.
I was surprised that the waiters couldn't remember who had ordered what when they were dealing mainly with couples. My husband was in the hospitality industry for years and was taught by Anton Mossiman how to make sure you knew who had ordered what when you took down an order. It would be worth training the staff.

The breakfasts were lovely and the location suited us well since we had relatives coming from two different directions. The gardens were in excellent condition and a pleasure to walk through. Lastly, kudos to the great staff especially on the desk and in the restaurant.
We thought the beds a trifle tired. The bed linens were superb but these were the only beds we met on our 21 day trip that caused me a bit of a backache. It was a shame that this item let the side down.

quirky period property. lovely dining room overlooking river. restaurants and High street nearby.
bathroom very small. didn’t like the pillows

Poor.
The Hotel thinks it serves good food and charges accordingly. I thought the food at Breakfast and Dinner was alright but in no sense good and in particular the bacon used for breakfast was too thick and the scrambled eggs were not hot.
There was an unpleasant oily taste to the cooked breakfast.
The basin provided in our upgraded room was not large enough to shave in and the glass shelf above made it difficult to wash ones face. The windows in our room did not fir properly and it was very small for a room billed as a suite.

What a beautiful find! location perfect for Wareham town centre and river walks. Only had an overnight stay and didn’t bring suitable attire for a very cold morning walk unfortunately. The restaurant for dinner and breakfast is in a stunning glass extension overlooking the rear of the property and river. Church bells on Sunday morning - perfect!

All good

History of venue
Paying all that money to have rain coming through the windows having wet towels to soak it up
Cold and crafty en-suite
Not a suite as was expected
Good in dining room was not what was expected for the cost involved

The view and the building
No signal on TV. No biscuits or hot chocolate in room. Coffee machine stuck to top as it hadn’t been cleaned underneath. Breakfast could have been hotter.

The gardens are a hidden treasure. Location by the river is exceptional. Breakfast choice was excellent. You can have anything that is on the menu - this is not obvious - so go for it!
en suite could not have been smaller. Truly cramped.
No one at Reception when we arrived. Rang three times. Asked staff three times before anyone came. Half hearted apology - we are busy! A complementar drink in the bar or a bottle of wine would have sorted it.

Breakfast poor,location and comfort ok.
We visited this hotel some years ago and the food was great, but this last visit apart from 1 or 2 dishes was not up to standard.

The location is perfect.and surrounding gardens are lovely.
The staff were curt. Very unfriendly on arrival. The room was smaller than lead 2 believe. The lack of storage 4 anyone staying longer than 1 night.

Breakfast delicious, fresh and hot.
Room service is almost non existent if you want a snack. No menu, they did offer to make up a sandwich which we declined.

It was an amazing hotel full of comfort (incredibly clean) with helpful, kind, smiling staff. Everything was done to enable us to enjoy our stay which we certainly did. All meals were delicious from breakfast to dinner. The hotel and garden are purely beautiful, maintained to the highest of standards.
