Typowy hostel
Poszłam do Pana z recepcji poinformować, że nie ma czajnika na kuchni. Usłyszałam, że powinien być. To była cała pomoc

Very unhelpful and straight up rude staff. The self check in didn’t work and the person in the reception told me to “read me email” as an only response even though I said it didn’t work. I came into my room and there wasn’t any clean sheets available on a bed so I could make my bed. When I told the receptionist about this she condescendingly told me as if I was a child “you know you have to make your own bed right?” To which I said yes but that’s hard when there isn’t any clean bed sheets. It took at least 30 minutes for my to get my clean bed sheets. They were also super unhelpful when I asked for help with public transport and local recommendations. The location was far out from everything and the whole place was filthy and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a week.

gentilezza staff, spazio nell' ostello che non era mai affollato
Le cucine sono 2 piccole e distanti sarebbe meglio una bella grande... materassi un po' sottili poco comodi, 2,5 km dal centro a piedi

Todo bien

The facilities were very clean and comfortable. The usage of codes instead of cards makes everything very easy and practical.
The guy at the reception was super friendly and helpful.
Reaching the city center by public transport seems to be a bit complicated

One of the best hostels ever, highly recommend

Location is good is you will be traveling on
You have to make your own bed.
Showers and toilets were disgusting.
I have traveled a lot in my life but for the price you pay its really not worth it. 5€ would have been worth what you get.
Guy at the front desk was really nice though

They are remodeling the hostel into a family freindly environment! We have been staying at the Dalur since 1999, back when it was a young adult (rowdy hostel, so we camped at the Dalur for two decades). Since this past winter they have bee remodeling and its a pleasure to mingle with local families and campers from all different backgrounds.
Guests make the difference of your stay, so treat each other how you want to be treated and everyone will have a great experience. The staff is amazing and always helping if a situation arises!!! I have been staying here once a month since March this year and it is my go to location for the swimming pool/hot pots next door. Second choice is Loft downtown for close restaurant walks in the winter and Sunnhollin pool.

The hostel is perfect if you plan to go explore nature sights - all buses that do tours stop right outside the hostel! The kitchen is very big and comfortable with a nice view, bedding is clean, and i liked the free lockers for bags. I've stayed at so many hostels throughout the years all over the world and this one is one of the best.
The location is quite far from center, so if you are a city explorer (which i think you are not because you go to Iceland), you should look elsewhere.

Location was pretty good as it was right next to a bus stop with buses going to popular hiking trails or to downtown Reykjavik. The staff was very friendly and made the check-in/out process smooth. There are also long-term luggage lockers for a few which came in handy as we did a hike for a few days before our stay.
The overall cleanliness of bathrooms/shared spaces was not the best which was unfortunate considering the higher price of a room.

twice i stayed here. highly recommend
keypad locks are everywhere in the corridor, entering password to open so many doors are little annoying

Almost center of Reykjavik! 30 minutes to the church:)
Very uncomfortable divided rooms (by gender). Cozy kitchens, but you have to go to them through the whole hostel.

close to town
had a shocking nights sleep thanks to other guests snoring. one of the bathrooms was out of order so it was often a long wait for the shower. the downstairs bathroom was in need of cleaning. the downstairs area does not look anything like the photos.

Location, free parking, kitchen, and nearby local swimming pool with hot water.
Kitchen amenities & chess in lobby.

The hostel is good to stay few nights, easy checkin and check out.
It is too expensive for a hostel room.
Towels are old, should be renovated.
Instructions about sheets are not clear because in the room it says that should be removed during the check out and leave them at the reception but when you go to reception it says that only green sheets, but we had white ones so not clear what to do.
