About this villa rental
This magnificent property stands, with its unique burgundy color, on a hillside above Positano's bay.
It was born as a monastery and starting from the 18th century it was enriched by particular and precious objects coming from the middle-east and other countries of the world, given that Positano was situated along the main routes of spices, silk goods and products imported in the Old Continent. The merchants passing through here, not only left works of art, but also a mix of culture and traditions of ancient populations that is visible in the décor of this historic villa.
Since the beginning of the 20th century, Positano became gradually the shelter of many artists and one of these Edward Ghillausen, a Bauhaus member (the artistic and philosophic German movement) established in this villa together with his wife, where they lived until the year 2000, leaving a further hint of culture, also considering that their usual visitors were artists or literary men themselves.
For all these reasons you will breath art and culture everywhere in this building, which make it even more fascinating.
Guests have the option of reaching Palazzo Santa Croce via a convenient public elevator directly from the Amalfi Drive.
Operating from 8:00am to 24:00, this elevator provides a swift means of transportation, allowing guests to reach the doors of the Palace from Amalfi Drive in a few minutes.
As the elevator is not managed by the villa management; any inconvenience cannot be related to them.
While the scenic 10-minute walk (including 190 steps) remains an option for those who prefer it, the availability of this new elevator offers a more expedient and efficient way of access.
From the main entrance you have access to the terrace where you can admire the breathtaking view of Positano and of the sea.
The terrace is furnished with ancient tiles featuring sacred scenes, with terracotta vases of different dimensions and comfortable sofas. The terrace is connected by three entrances, to the kitchen, the dining room, the lounge room and the staircase.
The kitchen is composed by a mix where technology melts with antiquity, fitted with majolica and marbles, the bread and pizza oven and the big baroque pantry.
The dining and relaxation area consists of two rooms and it is furnished with an antique wood table and monumental chairs, comfortable sofas, a library with a collection of antique books and paintings.
On the lower floor there is an inside heated pool with Jacuzzi and a fountain for cervical massage, it is covered with local tiles.
There are also a sauna and a steam room, two showers and a space with a massage table. Furthermore from there you have access to a terrace with solarium and an outside Jacuzzi.
On the first floor there are the two main suites with decorated ceilings, both characterized by a typical XVIII century imprint. The first one features a console with mirror, two columns on the sides of the bed and numerous antique paintings. It has two balconies and a marvelous terrace with view on Positano's beach.
The other one is characterized by a strong spiritual furnishing with a privileged altar and paintings representing sacred scenes. The style of this room is in harmony with the rest of the structure, with decorated ceilings and bathrooms with antique tiles. It has a terrace with sea view and on the main Church. A corner with sofas and armchairs offers the guests a moment of relax observing the beautiful Positano.
On the second floor there are the two junior suites, both characterized by a sloped ceiling with wooden beams. In those rooms the furnishing is sober and the colors are light, enriched only by some antique objects. From the wide window of one of these rooms you can enjoy an amazing sea view and of the town of Praiano. The room has also a small private terrace with sea view and view on the garden with the typical colors and fragrance of the Amalfi Coast.
The second room is characterized by a wide window with a Mediterranean style that faces the charming town of Positano and the garden of the villa with orange and lemon trees and bouganville.
On the same floor there is also a single room exquisitely furnished, with en suite bathroom.
All the rooms are equipped with all comforts in order to satisfy the most demanding guests that will spend a relaxing and unforgettable stay, finding a complete assistance typical of a 5 star luxury hotel, such as: the daily (8 hours) personal chef-cooking service, maid service, Concierge service, included in the rental price.

Wonderful service
Our stay was wonderful! The staff went over and beyond to make our vacation an experience we will never forget! The food they prepared for us was the best we had on the entire Amalfi Coast. The worse part was saying goodbye!
We would love to go back again sometime!

La dolce Vita
We dreamt of a Villa in Italy and the dream came true at Villa Cardinali. The Villa is gorgeous with its Baroque decor and stunning antiques with a beautiful view of Positano and the sea. The staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful and the Chef delighted us with wonderful meals morning and evening. We celebrated a 60th birthday with our family of 6, and Villa Cardinali was the perfect choice.
