The dinner was excellent and very good value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great service throughout
The beds were a bit hard but it is a matter of choice as we both have back problems.
3.5
Location excellent as a stopover on our journey, parking good, receptionist friendly and helpful, large airy room had everything we needed, comfortable bed, tea and coffee facilities, countryside views. Easy walk into Ilminster which is very attractive.
Washbasin taps very hard to turn off effectively, paint flaking off bathroom radiator, spider nestling in hand towel. Stains on several bedroom curtains, headboard and fabric wall covering. Walls and ceiling finishes tired, in need of some repair and a repaint.

We did not stay for this booking. On 1st May but on return a wedding had just arrived and there was no room for us to park. Bearing in mind I am disabled and had booked a disabled room you must appreciate this was not acceptable. If you look at our history we only book where there is on site parking. We will not be booking there again and I will be checking that they do not charge us.

rooms are very comfortable
single room very noisey

lovely comfortable room and as we had taken our westie it was great that there was a special area where we could have our breakfast with our dog.
Bed was super comfortable.
the only thing that let the Shrubbery down was the breakfast. the first day was good but the second day if looked like microwave cooking..the scrambled egg looked like rubber.
My husband said the same for his full English.
2.5
Staff in restaurant cheerful and helpful but kitchen staff didn't know that "Eton Mess" should contain meringue - their's didn't!!
Noise from road traffic, shower leaked extensively all over floor. Clearly an old problem as poor "bodging" and several blisters of paint evident on the side panel.
2.5
The coffee was the worst I have ever had. An American was so weak you could see through it to the bottom of the mug. An espresso was just as weak and was only about half an egg cup. Had an Eton mess, which was a mess. I think the majority of it was poor strawberry yoghurt topped off with 1 strawberry and a very small amount of meringue

I stay here weekly now, the staff are lovely. Place is comfortable and surroundings are beautiful.
Nothing negative to say

Room lovely and big - bathroom done out nicely
Cold shower with no power - took me half hour in cold water to wash shampoo out of my hair!

This is the second time we have stayed. Good location for our needs. Spacious room. Good Parking. Was over in a separate block which i assume was to keep us a little further away from the noise of the wedding party.
Was disappointed with the room, was not as nice as the one we stayed in before. Very noisy pigeons walking on roof. Wedding was on which would have been good to have been informed about as it meant we couldn't get dinner (we were told we could) but then sat waiting in the restaurant for 25 mins being ignored before we went off and found an indian restaurant in town.
Booked room with Queen bed which last time was larger than out super king and home and this time it was more like a standard kind size.

Dinner was excellent. Didn't have breakfast. Good parking.
Thought pub was just ok but had expected more. Availability of pub food would have been appreciated. Lack of offer by staff to help with luggage.

The location just out of the town is excellent, plenty of parking with a lovely view out the back
We asked for a quiet room with a bath and got exactly that
The hotel decor is tired and our room smelled quite musty. We chose not to have breakfast at £15 a head as there were plenty of local places offering much better value.
4.0
good location, large car park, friendly staff, good room and lovely breakfast
it’s the same criticism I have for most hotels: at £100 a night it always seems quiet pricey.

Location. Breakfast was expensive but ok. No kids eat free option.
Cold room. Small fan heater we found in the cupboard we put it on to help warm us up but it kept over heating and turning itself off .Really noisy radiators coming on in the morning at 6 am that woke us up and then kept us awake . Really little tea coffee milk offered in the room, not enough for 2 cups of tea each. The hotel had a bad unpleasant smell of damp and old stale odour. Staff not particularly friendly or helpful. They couldn't be bothered. Also no plug sockets near bed to charge my phone etc

Good price with my genius discount.
Radistor didn't work, but there was a free standing one in the room, so they were aware of an issue.

The food in the restaurant was good. The staff were pleasant.
The room was very cold when we arrived, there was a plug-in heater on but it didn't heat the room very well. The radiators came on later but it was a while before the room warmed up. In the morning the water was not hot enough for a shower.

Very welcoming night porter, I checked in after midnight. Comfortable room, free biscuits! All round great stay.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, we got an early check in and they sorted out our breakfast when we forgot to pre-order.
The heating in the room is only on at certain times, though there is a plug in radiator that you can use if necessary.

very spacious bedroom
very cold bedroom when we arrived. breakfast of scrambled egg and smoked salmon could have been better. mouldy grape! should have had more time before cooked breakfast served.
